    I would add some gravel at the bottom so water can be released from the pipe. great video very jealous!

      @SurprizedDaily 3 года назад

      very little if any water will get into the pipes....with the coupler on top where the rope's tied through to stretch the net, it'd have to be a sideways driving rain, which I doubt much water would ever find it's way in, if any at all....I need to build me a range like that here!

    Just one idea. To help prevent some of that flexing you said you don't love, tie off the top of the pipes individually with tension to a nearby tree or ground stakes that are screwed in further away. Use tie wire to hold more tension. It will pull the pipes apart and prevent that flex, and also give you more stability if you get hit with a windstorm.

    Secret to driving those pipes down... duct tape a hose to the top end, get on top of the ladder next to the pipe and turn the water on. Use the pipe as a water drill.

    Matt, a couple of suggestions 1. you need to put something on the threads of the tee so it doesn't cut the rope with wind, it could be a piece off hose. 2. if the rope is nylon it will grow and shrink greatly due to humidity, polyester or poly propylene not
    is affected as much. Great job!

    Oh yeah.. Those teens looks real excited to be doing a work task. They couldn’t wait to get started.
    As for the build. Borrow a large hammer drill and ground rod attachment and drive the poles in. No digging, no cement work. If an electrician can drive a ground rod 10’ deep, you can get a conduit pipe 3’ easily. After you get your height, put in a 90° fitting on each side pole, adding a horizontal pipe between each vertical pole (adds stability). If you still want to be able to lower the net drill a hole on each side of the upright poles to string thru. Just some thoughts on less labor.

    Matt, you may need to add a second anchor to each pole to prevent them from collapsing inward. Loop a second rope through the t fitting at the top and down to the anchor top keep the weight of the net and the repetitive impacts from pulling the poles together. Having the second anchors further away from the pole base would provide greater resistance against said collapse.

    Cool new setup. You can also measure the distance between the bottom of the poles and tie a rope that length to the top of your nets Then use the ground anchors to pull the poles apart from the tops. That will eliminate the flexing inward of the poles. But awesome net brother

    Glad that you and your family safely made it to your new home. I hope that net works for you. Years ago(15) I made my own net set up in my back yard. Started out buying retail products and after the netting on the second one broke and golf balls were flying through the cedar pickets of my fence I investigated a better solution. I ended up locating a net maker for a commercial fishing company in I believe Washington State who made me a custom net to my specifications. I figured the marine nets were more durable in the Texas heat and humidity. I beat 200 balls a day in that net for 10 years without a tear. Tuck this info away for later. Also, quit practicing so much. Your swing is looking too good.

    I would put a couple of long bolts though the bottom portion of the poles that are in the cement to give added stability. And several inches of pea grave in the bottom of the hole for drainage.l As for water gettin in the pole you could put a couple of weep hole for an water to drain out. Also use a wood block on threaded pipe when hammering to protect the threads. You have a very nice set up Sir.

    i miss the chickens! but wow that's a nice property you got there! perfect for a golf setup! great project o have the kids involved too.. to fix the bend in the pole, you can option 1, thread another pipe to the top ends of your pole (from tee to tee, which would stiffen the connection) option 2, just use another one of those auger, tie another rope to pull the posts back or option 3, just pull the top of the posts from the tree.

    The large net it is great. Being able to practice in the shade is huge in the mid-atlantic heat. If you got severe thunderstorms coming through, they can have some very stiff winds. Keep an eye on your project. You may want to drop the net.
