I think I mentioned in a previous comment that Yun'Shul states that the goal of the drowned gods is to reach the moonseye, but ultimately hearing this information blows your head up from insanity so therefore nobody actually knows this. Fortinbras also states in his journal 'We drown to readily. Pry a soul free from its vessel and it drops like a stone', with the vessel being the physical human body and the soul being the thing that resides in all humans (presumably the soul is made out of The Song) But Fortinbras says 'drops like a stone', probably talking about how without any physical vessel (The Human Body) our souls sink to the depths. I think this proves the theory that the drowned gods are scared to wake up and only rise the tides themselves as a last resort when a form of civilisation overuses/ misuses the song, to prevent themselves from waking up. The game itself is combat orientated, you literally get ganked every other day. The nature of the world is that humans are really good at killing eachother and monsters lie around every corner. Each soul that drowns rises the tides bit by bit, just like how you mentioned a bunch of people jumping in a swimming pool will eventually cause it to overflow. I'm also pretty sure Arch Mage stated that 'there are no safe uses of The Song' and each use of it pulls in The Voidfog and Tides ever so closer to The Moonseye. However, I'm not sure why the gods don't just instantly rise the tides immediately to drown everybody in an instant. Maybe it will cause themselves to wake up? Or maybe there are other forces coming into play which makes them have to follow rules. Like why give humans the chance to escape the depths with a trial? Why does a god have to grant humans resonances to give a second chance of life? i know this is yap but deepwoken lore is very interesting

My interpretation is that the main 4 attainments had always existed, humans simply discovered them. However, humans use sort of ‘fake’ developed versions of the attunements. For example, I’m pretty sure flamecharm doesn’t actually control fire, rather the ability to create combustion. This is the version of flamecharm pleeksty created and taught to his people. But upon consuming a piece of a drowned god, your capacity and knowledge of the song increases, now being able to wield the ‘true’ version of that attunement. So ‘true’ flamecharm isn’t just being able to make combustions but being able to speak to and control the flames themselves.
This made me think, who was/is in charge of Celtor? I mean who even are the voices and how are they able to do what they do? Did the person in charge of Celtor do something to drown the city for malicious reasons? I mean we really don’t know much about who these voices are and I’d love if they could get more attention in the lore
