Never saw Phil with Pantera. I have seen him twice with Down and he was actually great. Saw Him once with the Illegals and they were fantastic too, played some Panteraa tunes and smashed them of course but Phil was better with Down, purely because they played their music as a team, a proper band. They walked out and owned the stage and the crowd from the first minute til the last. Both times it was a real pleasure to watch them do what they do best. On top of that, there's the fact that they played Bury Me In Smoke and it is an absolute weapon of a song. Phil has always been a controversial figure but as a frontman there aren't many who can beat his energy.

Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford are just a couple of examples. Obviously there was better front man in other classic rock groups like Freddy Mercury. You get the point. But we are talking metal. And that disturbed guy is good he may even have better vocals than Phill, but Phills energy surpasses alot of singers. He turns up the 🥳

Nobody talks about his bass playing or his bass sound. He's an absolutely solid player and his sound is quite unconventional for metal, I've never seen him let loose, but I imagine he has quite a few tricks hidden away in his arsenal

I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone enjoy themselves on stage as much as Phil did here. Even though it’s only 1/2 of Slayer it was heartwarming to see Phil live a dream come true... on his birthday no less.
