Take a Minute: Local Heritage - The Maid of the Loch

More than just a boat, the maid is a piece of history, a symbol of heritage, and was once a source of pride for the people of Loch Lomond. For 29 years, she carried passengers up and down the Loch until she was retired in 1981. Now, she is being lovingly restored by a dedicated team of volunteers in Balloch. Now you, too, can support the Loch Lomond Steamship Company's mission to get the Maid back in the water by paying for a guided "hard hat" tour!

In the 1950,s I huddled the funnel on cold windy days. Ah, such memories. My Mother worked on the boat.

I done a big shite in the right hand side of the engine room in 1989.
Could you check if it’s still there?
It’ll be well shrivelled but it was a hefty load, so I reckon half will be there.
It would be great to be reacquainted with it again
