Paddle Steamer Maid of the Loch & SS Sir Walter Scott - 1981

A circular trip from Glasgow began with a Railway journey to Balloch Pier where we boarded the PS Maid of the Loch for a sailing on Loch Lomond to Inversnaid. After a photographic opportunity to film the Maid setting off to return to Balloch - and a coffee break, we boarded a coach to take us onward to Loch Katrine to join the SS Sir Walter Scott at Stronachlachar for her return south east sailing to Trossachs Pier. Here we joined another coach connection to Stirling Railway station for the return journey back to Glasgow. These Silent Super 8 cine film pictures onboard the steamers were recorded on my first visit to Scotland on Friday 4th July 1981.

Yes , I think that was the last year she operated.
So sad that restoration is taking so long.

@@PeteDevrell It certainly is sad Pete. We stay in Southampton now but get up 2 or 3 times a year. We had our reception on her in 2015 and my gran worked onboard in late 50s. Big shock when we saw her up on the slip in September. Fingers crossed. Happy new year
