A trip on the "Maid of the Loch" paddle steamer on Loch Lomond, Scotland.
Filmed in 1967 on Standard 8mm film and scanned onto video using a Reflecta film scanner.
The trip starts/ends at Rowardennan and also shows the piers at Tarbet and Balloch.
The Maid of the Loch has been out of service since 1981 but there have been attempts to restore the ship.
Notably, in 2019 the Maid was pulled from the loch but immediately slipped back in due to an equipment failure. See here • Paddle Steamer Maid of...

Scottish tourism has boomed in recent decades, which is why it seems crazy to have left such a wonderful tourist asset floating motionless by Balloch Pier since 1981. Volunteers have done a great job looking after her over the years since, but a lot of money is still needed for the final push back into service.
Sadly, even the 1960-modernised electric train link to the pier and the lake was closed and dismantled because of shortsighted budget cuts in 1986. Here's hoping that operates again one day too.
