- What's it like in Gibraltar? Join me on a Tour of Gibraltar on Spain’s southern coast, a region well known for its towering rock and fascinating military history. The British Overseas Territory situated at the end of the Iberian Peninsula is dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, famous for it's siege tunnels and it's monkeys (actually Barbary Macaques,) Although it covers less than 3 square miles, the strategic location of Gibraltar has made it one of the most fought over places in Europe. For centuries it has withstood political manoeuvring, sieges, battles and today, with its red call boxes, Union Jacks and high street shops, Gibraltar staunchly stands as a small pocket of England in the heart of the Mediterranean.
We start the tour in Casements Square and walk in to Gibraltar town centre towards Main Street, We the pass through Grand Casements Gates and cross the street to explore Ocean Village - The famous marina and site of many bars, restaurants and coffee shops. from there we explore the rock of Gibraltar and it's many attractions including :-
Apes' Den / Barbary Macaques - Gibraltar's wild monkeys in their natural habitat
Gibraltar Nature Reserve, Upper Rock - Gibraltar's most prominent landmark and nature reserve
Mediterranean Steps - UNESCO World Heritage Site Buffer Zone
O'Hara's Battery - Highest point of the Rock of Gibraltar
Skywalk - Glass lookout with spectacular views at the top of the Rock
St Michael's Cave - A natural cave in the heart of the Rock
Windsor Suspension Bridge - A suspension bridge - not for the faint hearted
I also check out the beaches of Gibraltar including
Camp Bay & Little Bay - A former quarry turned into a lido, and a little rocky beach by the cliffs
Catalan Bay - A picturesque village by the sea located on the east side of the Rock
Eastern Beach - Gibraltar's largest beach located adjacent to the airstrip
Sandy Bay - A secluded beach with orange sand from the Sahara
And lastly Gibraltar Airport is listed as one of the most dangerous airports in the World. Not at least because of it's only 1777m long runway, but also because of the 4-lane Winston Churchill Avenue, which is crossing the runway

My parents lived in gib my brother was born there we still have family friends there. Iys my happy place and one day would love to live there
I live in Gibraltar and was born here and I find it amazing that people are shining light on our amazing place :)
you are welcome!
Give it a go yourself
Why wouldnt we supoort our british friends
Don't be amazed. Looks like it might be the last authentic, charming enclave anywhere on the Mediterranean where developers and/or billionaires haven't taken over.
What currency usual using Gibraltar?
Excellent video presentation - I am a Gibraltarian living in UK and thoroughly enjoyed it.
That means alot, thanks
I'm a brit who's had the pleasure of visiting Gib on a few occasions. What strikes me most about the lovely people there is that they're (for the most part) so proud of their heritage and identity. More so than anywhere I've lived in GB. I often fantasise about living there. Such a beautiful part of the world.
EDIT: This video has brought back many fond memories. Thank you.
You are welcome
I hope Gibraltar Tourist board chipped in for your trip, you've made a very good advert for them :)
Lol
We don't really need any advertising! Many locals make great videos of our rock. But we are glad that you enjoyed your stay, you are welcome back anytime.
A nicely put together video.. thank you.

@@Higgyhoggins look bro I live here, it's a tax haven 😂
Me and my girlfriend went to Gib last year and loved it, we're going back soon and cant wait. Great video, really enjoyed it!
Awesome! Thank you!
Sunsets are my favourite part of the day, you can't beat erm 👍
Agree
First time I have ever seen Gibraltar properly. Beautiful. And that sunset was stunning. Best things were the apes. Gorgeous little things. Thank you. 😊
We fell in love with Gibraltar after getting married there. We stayed on the Sunborn and we'd highly recommend it to anyone getting married in Gib. We were lucky enough to be allocated a room on the airport side which is away from the bars and a little quieter. Gib is a quirky place which we like. Its fascinating listening to the locals flicking between Spanish and English in the same conversation, sometimes in the same sentence!!
We are staying in the Sunborn in July we just did the Sunborn London so really looking forward to it in Gibraltar.
Out of all the places you.ve visited ....without a doubt this is my absolute favourite ...for real ...just wonderful 😊
Tim I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this trip you made. Everything there is so so spectacular and beautiful. It takes your breath away. Thanks for making this amazing trip. Loved it very much.💕
Been living in Gib for over 2 years and you have visited in a day more than what I have in 2 years !! 😂
Lol
I Love Gibraltar 🇬🇮🇬🇧🇬🇮 I Can’t Wait To See The Sights When I Take Me And My Dad There
It's a great place
Wow. Didn't imagine Gibraltar to be so relaxed and tranquil.
Gotta pay it a visit some day. Seems like a lovely spot.
Greetings from Sweden.
Great video!!
I go to Gib once a year for work, I love the place.
It's a Marmite spot, you love it or hate it.
The people are lovely, I have many friends who live there.
They are fearlessly patriotic and loyal to Gibraltar.
If I had the cash I would move there.
I was born in Gibraltar. It is a Wonderful place to live.Everyone gets on well very peaceful indeed. And I love it.💖
:-)
Am from Tanzania Africa I want to visit gibraltar please can I get your what'sup number or any address??
If you were born in Gibraltar, then you are a Spaniard! Congrats! 🇪🇸🇪🇸
Thanks Tim for bringing Gibraltar to us, it looks a great place. The video was stunning, you are doing a fantastic job and what you are doing far exceeds what the TV channels are providing.
wow thanks for saying that Richy, means a lot
Richy i couldn't agree more with your kind comments, Tim does an amazing job, definitely my favourite RUclips channel for sure.
Gibraltar is part of Spain not UK colony get lost

You are welcome and lucky to live here
Brilliant video Tim! As a local, I’m really happy with your video, highlighting the best parts of our little area in the mediterranean, especially our unforgettable Britishness which many people don’t know about 😄 Glad you enjoyed your stay. Shame you didn’t speak to any locals to ask them how British we are, I’m sure you would’ve had some very interesting and patriotic responses 😂 You’re welcome back any time!
Thanks, yes that would have been great idea
Haha…yeah they will tell you how British they are while explaining and talking to you in spanish 😂😂
@@TheBeast-ub9jo lol
@@TheBeast-ub9jo We are bilingual, a privilege not everyone has. 😉Someone asks in Spanish we will reply in Spanish, someone asks in English we will reply in English, unless we are talking amongst ourselves and then we can talk Llanito, unique language to Gibraltarians. 🙂

hey Ian
This was by far the best vlog on this place, now I feel like I want to visit 👍
Yay, thank you!
Me too , great vid 👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic video representing Gibraltar. I live here and i love it. It is lovely to be shown like this to the rest of the world via your video. Well done and thank you
Thanks Stuart, that means a lot
Walking on that suspension bridge gave me the chills just watching you walk it
lol
Hi Tim, we have recently come across RUclips channel and my husband and I love it! We have seen a few videos so far and I love it how informative they are 😊Great work 😊🤩Amazing 👏👏👏Makes me want to visit places so badly! Gibraltar Is definitely one off them! Keep up the great work 🫶☺️
An amazing place! I'm from Gib and living in New Zealand now and can't wait to go back and see Gib! Truly unique with so much to offer!!
absolutely Ave. thanks for giving it a watch remember to subscribe
You correctly refer to the architecture looking British in some places (the red brick building you pointed out is the British Governor's Residence). Then you say it looks Spanish in other parts. However, the building you pointed out as Spanish looking, and most other traditional residential buildings in Gibraltar have a strong Genoese/Maltese influence. Hence all the Venetian shutters. There were Spanish style buildings at one point, single floor, with red tiled roofs, but those have mostly disappeared as the population expanded, because of the need to build upwards.
To a visitor, the most Spanish thing about Gibraltar will the the language you hear on the streets. While the official and formal language is English, informal conversation is mostly conducted in Llanito. That is, a mixture of English and Spanish, peppered with local versions of words borrowed from Maltese, Italian, and Moroccan Berber.
Gibraltar shops & Bars in the daytime look absolutely amazing 🤩
Main Street the bins & the flower pots, Post Box & even a UK postcode 😲
Mini Matalan
Holland & Barrett wow so strange a Holland & Barrets in Gibraltar!!!
Topshop certainly has a Spanish feel.
Ive got to admit if i could go anywhere aboard one place might be Gibraltar!
English money too!
Ocean Village, is amazing the Casino Ship!
I bet youve been in there Tim!
Ive never been in Casino in my life but i would love them especially this one.
I cant imagine what the Casino inside the Ship is like!!
The caves magificently awesome!
All the natural formations in the caves & the shades of browns & greens!
You deserve an award for your Cycling Skills cycling, talking holding the Gimbal Stick & panning the camera!
I don't know how you do it!
Those steps were very steep on your journey up & down the Rock of Gibraltar!
Another English tie the Windsor Suspension Bridge looked pretty study but so so high!
I don't know if i could of walked over the supension Bridge i doubt it!
But what fantastic views.
That must of been hard leaving your camera on the rock edge while you walked back on the Bridge to demonstrate how high it was!
The Monkeys were adorable 🥰 & they all behaved themselves.
I wouldn't of liked to see the Snake, i don't blame you for freaking out!
The 🐒🐵 Monkeys look so human!
The one rubbing its eyes!
The sky walk looked thrilling if you can stand the height & the heat!
Must be so difficult climbing all ghst way in the Sun!
You weren't sweating even cycling & filming!
How do you stay on your bike holding on with one hand😮
Highest point of Gibraltar breathtaking!
The beaches look awesome underneath the Rock of Gibraltar!
Beautiful golden sands & blue waters🌅💘
What a Waterwall spilling out from the aww inspiring Rock!
British Flags on Gibraltar Beaches.
The colourful Chalet type Beach Houses are lovely.
The Lighthouse even looked English/British.
My highlight of this vlog is definitely the cycle up 'The Rock' to see the Sunset.
Ive used up all the lovely words in the English volcabulary to describe that Sunset just emotional & more than Beautiful!
Its my favourite sky when its a Sunset!
Thr Flood lights are incredible illuminations.
Walking across the Runway of the Airport incredible!
It looks a massive Airport too.
Absolutely stunning vlog Tim from a year ago.
I cant wait to see your vlog coming up very shortly in 2023 from Gibraltar 💚🧡❤️
So much nostalgia watching this video, I do miss Gibraltar so!
A lot of new things to see since my last visit c.2007.
I am curious to know where all the people are; it looks so devoid of tourists and locals.
Thanks!
devoid of locals .. it was busy! lol
Wow! Been following you for a while and never realised you did a walk around Gibraltar, and WOW you went everywhere! I have been working in Gibraltar for 15 years and you've reminded me just how great it is. As a cross border worker, I just see the business district area every day and offices and its easy to forget the other side and the top of the rock. You really know the place well, even a few facts I didn't know! The big building near eastern beach are new apartments, supposed to be affordable housing.
Soon you won't see cars crossing the runway as the new airport tunnel (Near eastern beach) is due to be opened in the next month or so finally! But you will still be able to walk and cycle over the runway crossing. Great video Tim! The Gibraltar tourist board could probably use your expertise!
Thank you! I'll be bck in a few months 😌
As a child in the mid 1950’s I spent three years on Gibraltar. Two refuelling stops on Vickers Viking to get there and one three years later in a Vickers Viscount returning to the UK. The video brought back many memories. Weekends at Catalan Bay and weekdays at Eastern beach or the Nuffield pool if it still exists.
Thanks for watching John, remember to subscribe
Nuffield pool still exists but is called Europa Pool now. It is no longer run by the military but by Gibraltar’s government for use by the residents
Nuffield pool is still there apparently, but it's a public pool instead of military and family only.
Indeed, the sunset was breathtaking! Thank you for an enjoyable trip. 😍
Brilliant Tim think you've talked me & the Mrs into giving Gibraltar a go in next couple of years. terrifiv shows by the way!
Never seen Gibraltar ever on any TV programmes, but Tim as always you have presented it in such a professional way like all your vlogs, never knew it was like this, looks like it's a very interesting place to visit and you have captured it so well, thanks for sharing as always ❤️😀👍
Means alot thanks Stephen
@@WalkWithMeTim You are welcome Tim and congratulations to yourself and Gaby on your wonderful news, we are so happy for you all ❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic Video we are visiting Gibraltar in July this was great to watch
Thanks Alison
I divide my time between Gib and the U.K…..I really enjoyed this. Great stuff! I’m here at the moment and, naturally, enjoying the warmer weather.
Thanks Gill
Now, with your video, I don't have to go to Gibraltar, but I would like to. Your very extensive description gives us a complete picture and confirms that Gibraltar is much more than just a rock
I visited Gibraltar while on a cruise in the Mediterranean. I was amazed oh the massive tunnels in that mountain. It was a city underground and the Nazis were clueless about it. England planned massive operation from that mountain against Nazi Germany during WWII.
Excellent video,thanks.
This place looks so nice! My family is thinking about going there!
Have fun
BEAUTIFUL, especially the way you managed to capture everything.
I highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t visited Gibraltar to make sure to add it to your bucket list ❤️❤️

Thanks for this wonderful video, I have been to Gibraltar several times when I visited my sister who used to live near Marbella. It is a fascinating place. When at the top the view over the strait to Africa shows just how narrow it it. On at the top of the rock you are standing on one of the Pillars of Hercules looking at the other in Morocco, Jebel Musa.
Thanks Peter it's amazing place
Thank you for all the fantastic videos you make. I feel like I'm there.
Your video has put Gibraltar on our list of places to film sunset! I had no idea it was so beautiful there.

Nice one mate, " Gibraltar born & bred" here living in New Zealand, the other side of the world. Looks like quite a few changes, Camp bay, we used to walk through the tunnel to get there for a swim, & Catalan Bay, we used to walk through the tunnel for a swim & picnic lunch, great days plus my Sacred Heart school days. loved it.
I think we didn't call them monkeys in my day, but "Apes" Monkeys have tails, Apes don't (Just saying)
