After doing a bit of research, this particular set of commercials hails from April of 1978. The ad for the 2 'new' sitcoms,Rollergirls ,and Joe and Valerie is the main clue. They both debuted April 24th of '78 (info courtesy of Google search). I apparently have too much free time on my hands😅
Hey, it's the people who have "too much free time" are the ones that really bring the information we love. (and yeah, I'm one of those people with way too much free time too! But in my case, it's called being a Night Owl!)
2:13 - Chris Bliss was the juggler who was the opening act for the Jacksons' Victory Tour. Who, in their right mind, would hire a JUGGLER to perform in a STADIUM??? I still remember going to the Victory concert, in 1984, and sitting way up in the stands, at Exhibition Stadium, wondering why there was a lunatic onstage, trying to catch bugs with his bare hands. That's what it looked like, even on the big video screens. It was so ludicrous, that I never forgot it, or the name of the juggler.
You often see weird performers like that at state fairs. I attended the Eastern States Exposition in 1996 because my then-girlfriend wanted to see Billy Ray Cyrus. The act that went on stage just before Billy Ray was (are you ready for this?) an Iron Jaw act. For those who have no idea what that is, that's a person, most often a man, whose act consists of balancing large, cumbersome items on their jaw, and it dates back to Vaudeville days. The guy actually had a canoe balancing on his chin. Helluva lead-in to "Achy Breaky Heart", eh?
2:13 - Former Spirit and Jo Jo Gunne keyboardist Jay Ferguson in the promo for The Midnight Special. Jay was later responsible for scoring many early episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles.

I remember it was a pretty big deal to get to stay up and watch The Midnight Special, if I could stay awake long enough.
RUclips are currently releasing past full eps every Friday.
0:42 Love that SelectAVision ad!
You can see how Americans took to VCR's as we did.
We didn't get our first VCR until 1980 & it wasn't an RCA SelectaVision. 📼
@@luisreyes1963 Our first was a JCPenney-badged Panasonic model from 1981 my mom got in the summer of '82.
RCA VBT-200

The Sullivan family who owned the New England Patriots funded the Jackson's Victory tour. It sent them into bankruptcy

Nice to see the ads for Rollergirls and Joe and Valerie. Never seen either of them. Forever fascinated by all the flops of NBC's Silverman era.
I love 1979!
I also love 1978!
1:43 I can see why...😛

My buddy Wendell Brown 😊
I love all of the PSA’s …
Guess the National Guard ad inspired George W. Bush to avoid the Vietnam draft...😅
2:44 This man has been in the news lately
man i was hoping for an old car ad
Will a National Guard PSA suffice?
Not only was NBC a train wreck during Lame-O with a Lim-O’s time in charge, they had an actual Super Train, and it actually wrecked.
Imagine…
Rick, can you do all episodes of Love, American Style from 1969 on ABC, sponsored by Oscar Mayer, please?
1:43 Underalls commercials appears to have been filmed on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank.
Yes! And the first girl was walking backwards from behind.
