@Biscuit1973 I truly loved wkbs 48, I'm glad I have the week of Laurel and hardy movies and I also have 2 mugs with wkbs 48 logo on them! Great memories
My favorite part was right in the beginning with the Booberry and Count Chocula commercial! The Monster cereals were my favorite! Thanks for the memories!
Thank you so much for posting old channel 48 with the voice of Dr Don Rose. He was so funny quite the comedian annoucer for wkbs 48. I hope you post more of those in the future.
Both channels had the Looney Tunes. 17 had the silver and redrawn eras (1947-1959, 1968 W7 (1935-1943)) and 29 had the gold (1934-1947) until Turner bought them out of that channel.
The sad part was that some of the cartoons (Battle of the Planets, the old Mighty Mouse shorts, etc.) and live action shows (i.e. Six Million Dollar Man, The Incredible Hulk, etc.) were never broadcast on Philly UHF channels again, while other shows (i.e. I Love Lucy, The Beverly Hillbillies, All In The Family) would not be aired until Philly 57 arrived in September 1985.
The TV48 Fun Machine! I knew at some point someone would upload it!! In case your interested, I've been doing a lot of retro creations from various time periods. One of them is based off of the clip from 10:56.
Which movies were aired? Did they include 3-D shorts? I doubt it since The Three Stooges had two and were aired on WTAF-29 (Sundays 11:00am-12:00noon).
I liked these Speak and Spell esque bumpers, as well as their prior bumpers, "In Philadelphia, the kids' choice is, channel 48!" RIP both Dan Foley and Dr. Don Rose.
I grew up in Philly, but I'm slightly too young to remember this. This station never came in very well so I would always end up watching Philly 57 instead. I remember it being a low budget station, but its content seems to be on par with the stuff other channels had on in the era. All UHF stations had a ton of old stuff on to fill time until the mid 90's when Paramount, WB, and Fox bought them. I remember channel 48 in the late 90's for airing ECW, weird old cartoons like King Leonardo, and sometimes even anime. It seemed completely random.
Is there anyone reading these comments on this account because I remember WKBS channel 48 back in the late 70s and early 80s during the time when the net work was done serving Philadelphia and other states nationwide because I remembered during the weekday afternoons, channel 48 had a cartoon program called the KBS fun machine, and during the introduction, they will show an arcade gaming machine, which shows all of these children’s cartoons from the past up into the 80s and this is during the time when video game machines within evolving, such as Pac-Man, which was very popular during the 80s before the net work leader, signed off back in 1983.
I had this station from March of 79 to July of 83 boy i miss this station
I am grateful that I have 4 laurel and hardy movies as broadcast on channel 48 wkbs with commercials intact.
I really miss WKBS 48 because of all the stuff that wants aired on that network over so many years.

After WKBS-48 folded, some of the cartoons were moved to WPHL-17 and WTAF-29.
Those were the days! Watched both 17 and 29 a lot!

@@libertubey2199Philly 57 (WGBS) had Wonder Woman and The Bionic Woman.
@@andrewweisneck1102 Yes, they did.
Me TV needs to place cereal commercials during their cartoon shows
They don't even show all of the episodes of the cartoons they air.
@@billybarnett2846 I know I am planning to cut my viewing of that channel due to those reasons
@@booberry349 Always medicare ads ir another Lake Lejune situation.
Hope that MeTV would launch a new 24/7 separate network, MeTV Kids & Teens.
@@pernelldhThey are.
It's called Me-TV Toons.

Oh damn, I remember the Tomy Tronic 3d. One of my favorite toys
Kim Martin was the other announcer (two years before he announced for WGBS, now WPSG)
Great posting! Takes me back to being 13. Seeing Fred Savage in a Sesame Place commercial is deep.
I remember those 3-D movies...good times

All the SFX from the Speak and Spell were remixed.

I like how the only arcade game-sounding thing they could afford for the bumpers was a Speak n' Spell.
They probably could've afforded others, but Speak N Spell was very popular, so that could be why they chose that.
lol I had one of those back in the Very Early Eighties ( 1980-81)..
Little kids today don't know the joy and excitement of going to the circus.
Speaking of circuses, do you remember Bozo's Circus?
