Vic Roby was the announcer on the Bob Newhart promo. Bill Rippe was the announcer on the Sha Na Na and second In Search Of bumper. But on the opening preview, it sounds like Fred Collins was the announcer.
@@fromthesidelines - This was not the only infamous movie where she would announce the bumpers. On May 15, 1981, she would do likewise on "The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island."
So much nostalgia. The news break about Israel sadly sounds like todays headlines. The Monte Carlo ad brings back good memories. My stepfather bought two, a blue one in 1981 and a brown one in 1983. They pased the 83 one down to me. It ran over 100K miles. The last commercial is horrifying though 😮
When he became NBC's president, Fred Silverman was desperate to generate "heat" in his initial programming to make viewers *want* to watch. This TV movie was one of those gambits. That the band was sorry they were ever involved in making it (as Carrie Fisher was, appearing in "The Star Wars Holiday Special") was a sure sign this was an embarrassment for all--- except Silverman. And there were more embarrassments to come..........
"They're odder than 'THE ODD COUPLE'! Sunnier than 'SONNY & CHER'! It's Mie and Kei......" "It's 'Kay'!" ".....AND JEFF! They're Japan's hottest superstars- *PINK LADY,* in their American TV debut! HE's hit comic Jeff Altman! *'PINK LADY'!* A new series coming soon on NBC!!!!" {February 1980}
Silverman didn't realize that until *AFTER* he signed them to NBC. He tried to make the best of a bad situation.......and it WAS pretty bad, as mediocre ratings forced them off the air after a little over a month.

Last saw this when it first aired so this is definitely a treat!!!!
I was only 10 days old… Wow, so this is what commercials looked like when I was born. 😮😂
I don't think I've ever seen 70s ads look so good! Great transfer!
The announcer for In Search of bumper was Fred Facey
Peggy Taylor was the announcer for the "NBC SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES" bumpers.
Vic Roby was the announcer on the Bob Newhart promo.
Bill Rippe was the announcer on the Sha Na Na and second In Search Of bumper.

Yes, it's Collins.

KISS Meets the Phantom. Brought to you about 3 weeks before the “Star Wars Holiday Special”. What a great era in made-for-TV “specials”

@@fromthesidelines With only one minor little flaw: The ladies don’t speak English.

I remember most of these commercials. I don't remember though burger king having a steak sandwich. It must have not been there long. 17:05
"CHiP's" normally scheduled at this time will not be on this evening, but return next week at it's regular time.
Burger king so much more friendlier service then like mcdonalds than today
On the "NBC News Update" from Washington, who would have been that announcer - Phil Gaines, perhaps?
Possibly the coolest thing online. Did you happen to have any of the actual movie footage? The quality it top notch
@ 18:24 - Nazis and Kristy McNichol. What a golden age of entertainment it truly was.
But what a preposterous premise. That would never happen in real life

I will agree that McDonald's fries are very good.
The days of when McDonald's French Fries were cooked in beef tallow & when Cheetos are now designated as Crunchy & Puffed. 😋
Come and get it burger king😅😅😅
