I love love love my 2013. It currently has 122,000 miles and going strong. At some point, well down the road, I plan on refurbishing it with a rebuilt or new engine along with replacing most everything else it'll need. It's a great truck and we hope to keep it forever.
I don’t think the ‘13 Raptor looks dated at all. I’d buy one if one were located near me. Great video though Brian. I love your insight, especially since you are a Ford Tech. I’m thinking about a Ford after my current lease is up this coming year. Don’t know if I’m leaning towards the Ecosport or Edge.
Changed front fox racing shocks on my 2010 Ford raptor svt and now there is a squeel in the front end when you hit the gas let off gas and stops what can I do
Hey man is the new 2018 f150 5.0 tick really a problem or is it just the way the engine acts? I'm really considering one but dont want to have a problem with a new truck. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, We have not seen a F150 or Musatng in our shop with the noise issue. I am not trying to defend Ford by any means but the F150 is the best selling vehicle in the WORLD but you only hear about the .5% with issues. I would not hesitate to buy one.
I know you can usually get a pretty good deal on used Raptor shocks and they are great when they work right but they do have known issues. I personally would go with a reputable aftermarket setup.
Great video Brian.... off subject alittle. I have a 06 F150 STX 4.6L romeo. Just lost #3 cylinder. Has 0 compression. Haven't tore it down yet...was wondering if these are notorious for this and what causes this. I have 140k on it and I'm the only owner. Oil changes every 5k... well taken care of. No noise at all. Just runs rough, no power. Also I live in Somerset County Pa. who do you recommend... I am willing to take it to anyone good and reasonable. I wanna pass it down to my daughter she turns 16 in a few months. Thanks
That's pretty rare, the 4.6L is really reliable. I think its in the head otherwise you would be hearing some noise in the bottom end and you would have metal contamination in the oil. I would take it to your local Ford dealer at least for the diag. Sorry, I am not familiar with any shops in your area. Thanks for your support.
PIPSBURGH VIEWS is there a way you can find out since you know u work at the blue oval lol i can find good take offs on ebay and i was wondering if that could work?
I found my clunk after replacing everything, struts, ball joints (upper and lower) both front axles, sway bar links and bushings. ended up being my front axle support bushings...
I had a clunk on my 2014 ford raptor for years now that's driving me nuts, it's not struts or sway bar links. Where did you get the axle support bushing from, any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Great video. I had an issue with a clunky suspension on my '04 FX4 Supercab. I had the upper control arms and struts replaced, but the clunk remained. The stabilizer links were bad and had to be replaced after I did the other repairs. When you do a strut/control arm change out, is it good to change the Stabilizer links at the same time too? The truck drove much better after it was all done.
The upper control arm ball joints were a somewhat common issue back then. It doesn't hurt to replace them at the same time but if there isn't any play in them, I would leave them be.
That $500 isn’t 100% refundable. Whatever your shocks n struts need on the rebuild, they take from your deposit. So if the ones you send to them need a lot of work, you might get 100-200 back. Doesn’t sound right to me. That’s why I just bought new ones. Now I can rebuild mine and have a spare set.
They want you to describe the condition of your shocks before you send them in. That way they can estimate your refund and the condition of the shocks they send you. Obviously it would be better to buy new if you can afford it.

Just be really good at changing the oil and you should get 400K out of the engine.. 6.2L is a great engine.
Nice torque wrench. 🙂

Good video!
Thanks for noticing Paul!
Damn, 4 hours labor is what the book says? Whoah! That's generous of Ford!
Warranty labor would only be 1.9 hours.

Awesome video Brian!
Thank you Caleb!!
Nah 1st gen will never be dated because it’s iconic it also has the svt badges unlike the 2gen. Hehehe the v8 motors will outlast the boosted 6 too.
You are probably right Jay.

Had mine rebuilt by TSW and still have clunking. I have all new linkage to include upper co tell arm.

What’s the length of those rear shocks fully extended from Eye 2 Eye??
Useful. Thanks!

@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS thank you much appreciated.
Another awesome video!
Does it make sense to get the f150 raptor shocks for my 2010 fx4 or should i just get the aftermarket ones?

I have a 2017 f150 and the rear end calls for 75w 85. Should I keep it the same or change it to 75w 140?
We do swap it out occasionally, but I would stay with the Ford recommended fluid.
Also a 2:21 that lower control arm looks a little beat!
How to change spark plugs on 2013 to 2018 f150 3.5 to 2.7

Any updates on the rebuild? Did the shocks last long?
He traded it in on a Superduty about six months later.
can one buy the 2017 fox suspension and put it on a regular f-150 of that same era?
I believe the will but you won't get any real benefits unless you replace the upper and lower control arm too.

Were those bed pillows in the packing box? Wow!!!
Yes, ingenuity! lol
Foot pounds this foot pounds that but not once got out a Torque wrench.
My impact gun is pre calibrated LOL

Will have to keep all that in mind when I look my Raptor over in the spring.

How much did you pay for the replacement?
Around $700 but that was a few years ago.
Labor should be half the price of the shocks!!!!!!

Mention torque specs but never used a wrench in the video. Lol brap brap is good enough.
My impact guns is calibrated perfectly!
Overpriced junk.
Awesome video Brian!
