People might be on the fence about a certain bike, SOLELY due to its color, and it’s not like you’re catering to the discount bike crowd, so your client base probably wouldn’t mind the extra cost, if having the EXACT color they want would make them love their investment that much more.

Excellent video Chris! The more I think about the Homage, the more it occurs to me how much of a true alternative this is to a car. Full suspension with the rear shock more or less hidden, super easy to get on/off, parallel batteries with a whopping 1,250 WH that don’t even look like they are there, belt drive, sealed hub gearing, integration of all wires, new cockpit, with all the weight essentially on the bottom of the bike inherent with the step thru design. This is the ultimate e bike and reminds me of the Tesla Model Y because of its ability to go on most terrain, yet won’t tip over because of the planted weight of the battery on the bottom bed. I think that if someone gets this bike and maxes it out with all the bells and whistles, they will enjoy many many years of commuting on it. The Superdelite is great and very rugged looking, but it is still so modular in its appearance as compared with other high-end electric bikes like the ST5. The Homage nails both seamlessness and functionality and delivers a bike that is really in a class of its own. Well done R&M!!
I had not considered this bike prior to your review. I just thought it looked weird. But your description changed my mind completely and I now understand the reason behind the shape. I like low step where you just move your leg to the other side and off the bike you go. I rode one (not a Homage) while in France a few years ago and enjoyed being able to stop and disembark with so much facility. The available double batteries only make the bike more interesting, as I like longer rides. I will eventually have to decide between the Homage and the Nevo, both awesome. As a person who has mobility issues courtesy of a sport's injury which "compromised" my left hip and knee, the idea of an electric bike, which enables me to get out on the highways and byways with the wind in my face, is extremely attractive. The advantage of the Homage, when mounting and dismounting, is obvious. The big advantage, however, is the power reserves provided by the twin batteries. It gives you the confidence of knowing, even if your body malfunctions during the ride, you can still get home with minimum physical effort by utilising maximum electrical assistance. When you're a "crock", the last thing you want is to be stranded by the side of the road with depleted batteries. Great video, by the way, and, you're right, your stubble does look better thinned-out. 👍👍👍
I am into recumbents right now, but if there ever was a two wheel upright to lure me back, this Homage with Rohloff would be the one. Thanks again for the updates.

Chris, just wanted to say a huge thank you for these videos. They are incredibly helpful although it’s painful seeing these gorgeous R&M bikes and not being able to afford one. Would love to change my Specialized Vado for a Supercharger 2. The dual battery was good before but now they are both 625s, that’s incredible! Do you get BMW eBikes? I’m extremely tempted to get one, their latest one is superbly well specced, they have made it with Brose who make the motor for my Vado and it’s a stunningly good price on top.

Thanks for your supportive comments. Usually when people want to be more upright I recommend the Nevo3 or the Homage. But really all of the new bikes with the new cockpit stem have the option of the comfort bars and between the adjustable stem and the swept back bars you can get really upright on any of the bikes. Having full suspension is really helpful for your back when you sit upright as all your weight shits to your back.

Hi, Chris, When do you think you can test the dual battery version of the Homage? I have reviewed the 2021 SUV Ebike announcements of many manufacturers and there is no other manufacturer's model that meets my needs as well as the Homage. We often take our grandchild or dog on the carrier. That is why I liked the rear suspension and the low entry. We mainly ride on dirt roads, forest tracks and hilly terrain. Therefore I need MTB tires and a frame with high torsional stiffness. I need the high range for our long tours with luggage. Further plus points are the high payload of the optional Gates belt. My only criticism are the missing lowered struts for panniers. So you can't mount panniers if for example a basket or a box is mounted on the carrier. You do have good relationships with R&M. Can you address this problem?
Hey Michael, unfortunately there has been some delays in the first production run of the Homage but we should see them late this year or early next year. I agree with your assessment that not much compares though. Regarding the use of the panniers and a racktop bag, there are some solutions to this. You've mentioned the "high speed" Bosch motor a number of times, but I'm still unclear as to what that entails... Does it "go faster"? "...rev to higher RPMs at lower torque?" "...allow a quicker cadence?" Sorry that I haven't got this nailed down after literally 5 different reviews.

Riese & Muller too pricey for me at the moment but they are BEAUTIFUL bikes! Price is relative, if you are using the Bike as an actual commuter/car replacement it's a F***ing bargain compared to the cost of a good used Car, plus health benefits, no insurance, no registration, no GAS!

Went to Fully charged in London to get my e-bike and offered the RM but it was just way out of my price range. In the end went with the Gazelle U380 HMB which works out at £2.5k cheaper. But lovely e-bike range.
R&M should let people factory order color options. My wife wanted her's sparkling green. "Smallish" expense compared to the high cost of the bike itself.

Pierre, This is a great question! I highly recommend you ride one of these bikes. You’d be surprised how well they handle. The suspension is really nice as it improves the braking performance and maneuverability by keeping the wheels planted no matter the terrain. I’ll try to do a video at some point on that topic.
Hi Chris. Last video you mentioned you were going to do an interview and asked if we had any questions we'd kine answers to. One that's come to mind is whether it would be possible to make a heavy duty full suspension bike for heavier riders. (I weigh 130 kg). Thanks for excellent content!
The challenge here is the suspension on the market. In theory this is possible with coil springs like that on the Load, but I will see if I can work that in with me questions for Marcus as he would be the one to know and figure it out if anyone can do it.

R&M and Propel could never recommend that since it would void the warranty and it’s not tested so I would tread carefully if you consider this. I will see what info I can get from them though
Marathon Mtb tyres are more off road and have more puncture protection than moto x. I've found they work well on and off road. It would be better to wrap the frame to change colour and it adds frame protection.
The bike looks very nice particularly given the full suspension. The shop paint ide sounds like a good option to offer; even better if you can get a software package that lets them see how the colours you offer look on the bike before they commit to going with their choice
Designing a step through with 1250 W batteries is quite impressive. But I don't understand why R&M has choosen such big chain ring, generating far too long gear ranges (for models with belt). I don't understand their choice, especially that their MTB versions of Delight have usable gear ranges: 10m for each pedal stroke is only usefull to professional sprinters.
Many of these bikes have a high top speed 28mph and I think they are geared appropriately. You could definitely add a smaller chainring if you'd like, but I don't think it's needed.
I wish they had more color options. Thats a lot of money for a bike that only has one color. A bit like a model T Ford. I personally like a color to have more visibility for safety.
There is many extras you cannot add to the Homage. My partner in the last 3 years has had a new hip & knee and picked a fully loaded Delite which ticked all the boxes and we had many demo rides looking for her replacement e bike. There is many ways you can get on & off a Delite easily so please don't write off other R&M bikes.

Bought a 2020 homage, which I love. Haven’t ridden in 30 years, so still now sure how best to switch gears. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I wish they had more color options. Thats a lot of money for a bike that only has one color. A bit like a model T Ford. I personally like a color to have more visibility for safety.
There is many extras you cannot add to the Homage. My partner in the last 3 years has had a new hip & knee and picked a fully loaded Delite which ticked all the boxes and we had many demo rides looking for her replacement e bike. There is many ways you can get on & off a Delite easily so please don't write off other R&M bikes.
