  • newwheel.net/ho... Step-through bikes are some of our most popular. When combined with full suspension you get a bike that is not just supremely comfortable, but safer and more maneuverable on and off-road. Brett & Karen, founders of The New Wheel Electric Bikes in San Francisco, review the 2021 Homage and its many options - including drivetrain, motor system, the exciting new dual battery frame (offering 1.25 kilowatts of power!) and much more.

    How is the Thule Yepp seat working for you on this bike? I just go the Homage and considering it for my 4 yr old. Any special adapter needed to make it work or does it work with the MIK system? Thanks for the great content.

      It works for sure but watch the total weight limit on the rack. Once they outgrow it you can always add a trailer.

    How far do the 2 batteries get you in eco mode? I'm interested from a travelling perpective so turbo will use too much fot my use case.

      We would estimate up to 120 miles with minimal hill climbing. 90 miles if you are being conservative.

    A dream bike for traveling, specially with the 2 batteries version. You can ride 50 km on hilly roads, and see that there are still more than 100km of available range !
    But there are some manufacturing flaws: on mine, wiring was too tighten within the frame, so the stem cannot be set all the way down (detected and corrected by the shop staff before delivery), and there is a problem with one of the bottle cage screws, that forces to send back the bike to Germany for correction (grrrr...). That does not prevent to use the bike, before its little trip to Germany (I live in France); it's a wonder on road (new generation CX Bosch motor is very, very, very impressive, easily tackling steep climb on Tour mode) and on (easy) trail (I have regular tyres).
    Bike feels heavy when you have to push it, but remains nimble when riding it. Width of diagonal tube is never a problem.
    Only real drawback I can see (and I knew it reading the bike's characteristics, before buying it): ring is too big and gives gear ranges more adapted to an HS bike; they should have used a 50 teeth ring (the ring used on the "montain" Delight and SuperDelight) instead of the actual 60 teeth, for the Rohloff version.
    And they should have created some kind of handle where Bordo lock is stored, in order to facilitate bike handling when pushing or pulling the bike (specially in tight place).

    Hi Karen, how tall are you? I'm considering the Homage for my wife who's 5' and wondering if she's too short to ride the smallest Homage frame size.

    • @thenewwheel
      @thenewwheel  3 года назад +2

      I am 5 feet tall. I would say she will have no problem as the seat tube height and stand over is great for us shorter riders. That being said, shorter riders will need to be relatively comfortable cyclists and not intimidated by a big bike. The Homage rides beautifully but with full suspension it is a big bike and is not lightweight.

    Awesome bike, but too expensive. I can't justify spending that kind of money on a transportation bike.

      I am sure I’ll Lionel the bike. I’d love to test ride it. However, My interests in using a bike to commute is to downsize and simplify. $10,000+ bike is not downsizing.
