This is corroborated by a screenshot of a text convo between George and Caiti where they were joking about being able to book a business with her cuz of her business account. And in the screenshot there was no age next to her name. He didn't know this fact about business accounts back then and he only found out about it recently and spoke about it on his second VOD.

I used to be super into LDshadowlady’s friend group smps and they were always so wholesome 😭 they literally just made cute crafts, did some events, and roleplay about being a mythical creatures lmao. I am sooooo glad I never got sucked into the dreamsmp, that shit plagued my fyp all the time

She made one tiktok in February which said “when your card declines at therapy and they bring out the guy you never actually dated” (it’s a trend on there recently) but it’s not confirmed about him but the comments think it was. She also made one that said “I finally found out how to block the w name on tiktok” personally I do think that’s about him but more in reference to the previous video and how the people in comments won’t leave her alone.

I found Techno because his video announcing his diagnosis popped up on my fyp. I started watching his other videos and found him mad funny. It's sad that it only lasted a year before he left but I still go back to his channel and watch his old videos. I was going through some health issues myself and Techno's videos helped me feel better and at peace.
I would say rest in peace but I know the dude is doing anything but resting. He's too busy fighting Gods in the afterlife.

one mcc drama i can think of is the sapnap/niki “drama”, but that was mostly fandom related. basically niki stopped playing for a while because on one of the mcc streams, she got overwhelmed, wasnt doing well and her team was pretty competitive, so she started crying on stream due to the pressure of hundreds of thousands of people watching her. people detroyed her on twitter even more for crying, calling her a pick me, sensitive, dramatic. now one or two mcc’s later, sapnap started losing and got extremely aggressive, which made things kinda awkward. he was punching and throwing things and people were calling him hot for it, as if that isn’t a massive red flag. then people started pointing out that when niki’s emotional about “just a minecraft game”, she gets destroyed online, but when sapnap does it, it’s somehow attractive

6:00 quick note: leaking the seed number doesn’t allow them to join the world. Seeds determine the way the world looks, essentially making each seed a completely different randomly generated world. In other words, leaking the seed number gave fans the ability to make a complete carbon copy of pewdiepie’s world.
edit: another thing at 22:27 ; philza’s success primarily came about from his Minecraft hardcore playthrough and holding the record for the longest Minecraft hardcore playthrough. In other words, running Minecraft for about eight hours a day, hardest difficulty, and if you die even once you are locked out of your world forever. He was kinda recognized as ‘that hardcore guy’ for a few years before the dreamsmp really put him on the map.
Edit part 2: 54:05 Phil actually has responded, though not through video format. I believe he released something over discord? I don’t remember the exact details, I try to avoid the Wilbur drama since I used to watch him, but Phil says about what you would expect from a man in his situation.

For phil's response, from what I remember it was him saying to support shelby and that he'd be distancing himself from wilbur? or maybe just to be paitient as he worked through his feelings about everything, as well as to be patient with everyone else who was also processing. SADist is an anomaly of a person, like her effort and dedication to a mc rp server literally carried the whole fandom, like EVERYONE knows SADist, she's THE animator of the DSMP fandom. i fully believe she's at least a little responsible for how fucking huge DSMP got
wilbur has also bitten tommy on camera, and continuing to bite after he said to stop. during the roast video on tommys channel, tommy says about wilbur "if you weren't even a little bit handsome, everyone would think you're a wrongun", which in my opinion shows that tommy already knew and experienced that wilbur was a bad person and was trying to warn us.
I don't think he exactly knew, after all we aren't prophets no matter how many times people claim to know a person was a POS online. Sure he may have known Wilbur better than any of us could have, but he didn't know Wilbur in a relationship context. He didn't know Wilbur from the perspective of a woman, if that adds anything.
I think it was moreso a subconscious acknowledgement of wilbur being able to get away with certain things easily enough because he's charming. So, like a comment intended as a joke that ended up with some truth behind it.

Same. I liked the memes back when the dsmp was popular, and I'd watch all the animations because they were cool as f*ck. But I was never really a part of the fandom, and I lost interest not long after that. If I were a dedicated fan, it probably would have destroyed me to see all the allegations being thrown around and how the community went to sh*t. But since I wasn't that into it, I'm more shocked and intrigued more than anything. My thought process while watching all this unfold is, "Huh, I didn't see it going in this direction."
Quick correction:
A seed does not allow you to join someone's world,
A seed is a random number the games random world generator uses to create a world for example, where all the trees go, what is a forest or a desert.
If you input the same seed as someone else, you get a copy of the landscape of that world, the trees will be the same, the biomes will be the same, but it's your individual copy of it.

As a long time Shubble viewer I do have some older series that have a very special place in my heart
1. Cooking Trouble with Shubble, a bunch of vids of Shelby making viral recipes and popin cookin kits, very fun and funny vids
2. Harmony Hollow, one of the first SMPs I watched, theres a few still active youtubers from that era that I'm subscribed to and Harmony Hollow was my way of getting into the much wider smp sphere because of Scott Smajor, he's everywhere.
3. Agents. A fun little series of Shelby and another youtuber Mithzhan doing parkour and other minigames, there is canon lore to this series and it's very silly and fun

i found soothouse during their peak so he was always the “guy from soothouse who became a minecraft youtuber” to me. but holy shit is that actually how it ended? i remember being told the decision was made to stop because they were all losing interest and/or getting busier and felt like they were being drowned out by all the text to speech reddit videos

Shortly afterwards is when Soothouse disbanded

I knew Will left and that's why soothouse stopped making content together but I didn't know that was the reason. That is so messed up. But it makes sense, because after soothouse ended is when I noticed Wilbur was becoming really popular. His channel grew fast, then he joined the smp and started his music career. In hindsight it's very obvious that he abandoned the guys over on soothouse to chase fame and popularity. And look where that got him. What a loser.
a thing i feel like it’s rarely talked about is the racism in the whole community, from fans to creators. it was very much something you had to be on twitter to see and experience plus it did also have a lot of the black lives matter movement energy because it was on twitter but still, some creators were very much borderline racist or said some QUESTIONABLE shit constantly or excused their fans for being racist by dropping lines such as “i don’t control them, it’s all up to them”! it just made the large chunck of the black mcyt fans so icked, ah i remeber like it was yesterday…

Anyone else who didn't really watch or care for the DreamSMP personally but had siblings or friends that were very invested or passionate in the subject so you yourself ended up knowing a lot about it?
My sister LOVED the DreamSMP lore (she's a literature girlie, deep stories mixed with her favourite game was the best thing ever for her) and she LOVED Technoblade. She would show me her favourite funny clips from DreamSMP and their content creators. We would spend sibling-time watching Dream's manhunts together, funny videos from the lore, or Technoblade's videos. Thanks to that content I got to be closer to my sister.
She doesn't watch anyone from DreamSMP anymore- it was too difficult to bear after Techno's passing, and as more and more corruption of these people would come to light, she would miss Techno more and more. But she's starting to feel better, and she enjoys minecraft more with her friends as a social thing than absorbing content from people she doesn't care for anymore. Thank you for this video, Amanda. I think next time I get a chance to sit down with her, we will be watching this video together next to spend some time together and reminisce on the pandemic as well as everything that changed after she stopped watching.

Emotional unavailability, toxic relationships, and dysfunctional partners are a big part of his music. Now, just because an artists writes about these themes does not make them an abuser, but with the benefit of hindsight, we can see how Wilbur being an abuser did affect his music.

I remember watching Shelby's POV during one of the Pride MCC events and during 'Ace' Race (Asexual themed version of the game Ace Race) Wilbur came in, shoved Shelby out of the chair and completely took over her game. one thing abt the wilbur situation is that it's crazy we didn't recongnize the signs based on his personality, like she said he was the main writer and the fact he choose himself to be a manipulative lying villain is an easy way to be himself without actually telling anyone he's like that. looking back on how he treated women during streams it's easy to see how scared they were of him and how mean and disgusting he truly is. especially when you compare that to when other creators like tommy and philza had women on their streams. they often seemed more open to talk. goes to show how good he is at playing a character.
Dream SMP was my replacement for having real friends during the pandemic. It just felt good to feel like you are a part of a bunch of dudes having fun. Loved Sad-ist, loved the SMP music (CG5, Derivakat, Oblivion by Halfy & WInks is just… chef’s kiss), the fan art, EvanMCGaming was the only way to keep up with anything because the wiki is a mess. I miss all that stuff man, sad to see what it became especially after Techno’s death, but all good things come to an end.

As someone who got introduced to the dream smp from being a long time techno viewer. Techno would truly be sad to see how his friends have turned out. I really feel for both philza and tommy. As a long time dreamsmp and now just mcyt (mainly hc/life series) viewer, when I tell you the last few weeks have been a dumpster fire I mean it lol. Especially with all the issues coming up for the qsmp with funding mismanagement and apparently a fight with the french labor union? It's quite the experience to watch all of this go down. Glad to see a pretty cohesive overview of it all, because I feel like I missed a bunch of these details myself, and honestly it's just interesting to hear about.
I feel like one of the things that hit the dsmp fandom the hardest with wilbur specifically is that after everything with dream a lot of people started going "oh well, yeah that part of the server is bad and full of drama, but over here with sbi (wilbur/phil/techno/tommy) we're doing fine!" Like, it was the downfall of the guy who was supposed to be an unproblematic fav, and with the fandom already being in a shaky place with how hard it is to get new people into it (it was very much a "you kinda had to be there" series to keep up with), this is really a final nail in the coffin sort of thing.
I know some people are still hanging on with the creators from the server who don't have any allegations, and I commend them for that, but man, it sucks to see something I enjoyed so much become such a mess. Why does this feel like voltron all over again lol (somehow it feels worse, but probably just because I'm older and more involved). Great video regardless!
Agree 100% about the Wilbur/sbi thing. I got into dsmp and stuff because I liked his older stuff and his music, he was the reason I started watching it and the reason I kept watching it.
Never got into dream himself besides casually watching some manhunt vids, it was clear to me for a long time that he was at best pretty immature and irresponsible with his platform, and at worst a shitty person.
Wilbur wasn’t a saint but he always owned up to his past and mistakes in a way that felt pretty responsible imo. even though those past things were definitely wrong of him to do, I felt like he genuinely felt bad for them and changed to do better.
I kept following his stuff and by extension sbi after the server ended bc I felt like that chunk of people were a lot more genuine and a lot more willing to work on themselves, plus a lot more entertaining and I loved Wilbur’s music. To have this come out about him really rocked my world. He’s who I considered the most well adjusted one of them all (second to maybe Phil) and the one who I thought had done the best to make up for his past wrongs and do better. Crazy that the guy who I thought was the most aware of his flaws and gave the best apologies ended up doing this behind closed doors the whole time. Like I was not surprised at all about anything dream or George did, but Wilbur was truly the last person (second to Phil) i would have expected.
Part of me still hopes he’ll change and properly address it in the future, but I think that’s mostly because the image I had of him in my head is someone who would do that, and clearly he isn’t that image. I hope this is a wake up call for him to fix his shit, but even if he doesn’t it was definitely a wake up call for me to realize I was more invested than I thought and probably more parasocial for my own good.

I think the thing that changed my view of dream specificly was an often forgotten mcc incident. It was mcc 14 I believe, and dream and his team ended up loosing in dodgebolt to another team. Dream and sapnap went on a big rant afterward about how the other team only won because HBomb (who I have watched for forever and really enjoy watching) was lagging in hole in the wall, causing him to swim through walls. This lead to HBomb being harassed on Twitter and causing him anxiety about future mccs. The fact that they took their anger out on stream without any regard for others involved really soured my opinion of them.
What’s crazy was it was actually sapnap and punz ranting and dream was just laughing at him glitching through walls bc it was funny as fuck and told people not to go harass hbomb. The need to blame dream for other peoples actions is unnecessary

when Heat Waves was brought up, i had to just let out a huge sigh and sit back for a second. i’ve been a Glass Animals fan for years before the DSMP was around, and it still makes me exasperated that the internet associates that song with those two. same thing with Pork Soda and a different fandom. i love that Glass Animals got a lot of recognition, but i still get such bad secondhand embarrassment every time i remember what the internet did to it lmao. it is how it is, though. i just want to listen to the funky little songs.

omg, i need to meet more glass animals fans who had this experience. i never was in the dsmp stuff, i actively avoided it for reasons shown in the video, so i had no clue glass animals had blown up until i was in high school, overhearing some girl mention glass animals. i got really excited and asked her if she liked the band (i was Obsessed with them back in 2020-2021, i stayed up for the dreamland album drop and listening party ppl had) and she talked about heatwaves and i went 'oh yeah heatwaves is good!'. she then shows me her phone's lockscreen, which was an animated dnf tiktok heatwaves edit. if we didn't have mask mandates back then i'm sure she would've seen my face fall so fast lmao.
it actually pissed me off quite a bit for a while, because if you actually listen to a lot of glass animals, heatwaves is MID as FUCKKKKK compared to what they usually do, even in the dreamland album itself. i so so so so so badly wished that hot sugar was the song that got all the attention instead, and i'm still grieving that i never got to hear it organically on the radio while cruising around windows down in the summer of 2021.
heatwaves has a light and fun summer-y glass animals beat and that's about it, imho. there's very few lyrics that dave sings in a fun or interesting way, the lyrics themselves are generic love-song stuff (which other songs in dreamland do as well, to be fair), there was no real wordplay or fun sound effects. compared to the vivid imagery in the lyrics of stuff like 'gooey' and 'waterfalls coming out your mouth', and the interesting delivery of lines in stuff like 'it's all so incredibly loud', 'wyrd' and 'cane suga', it falls flat, or at the very least unimpressive by dave's standards. and i'm not going to deduce points for 'lack of fun story inside the song itself', since dreamland was an album built off dave's trauma and own memories, but it's definitely noticeable that heatwave's 'memory' it's based off is a lot duller than something like 'space ghost coast to coast' or 'helium'. heatwaves is produced well, and it sounds good, but it's so forgettable if you've listened to nearly any other song from any album by glass animals.
i guess i'm angry at the potential that was lost when heatwaves went viral instead of any other song on that album. but, then again, i don't think it would've gotten as wildfire-insane-crazy viral as it did if heatwaves WAS any more niche, or interesting, or less of a generic pop song than it is. the song was vague enough to fit in the story of the fanfiction and the fanfiction was vague enough to fit into the story of the song. that's why it worked.

I feel like you’re missing one of the main reasons people don’t like Dream, which is his old RUclips content and what he posted on his old Reddit account. His video “BadBoy Halo cooks chicken” is insanely racist and islamophobic and on the Reddit account he both defended a person accused of SA bc it was “career ruining” and showed himself to be a active Trump supporter, amongst other things.

Ok, its not that central to the topic, but about the seed thing: The seed generates the world. Knowing the seed means you can make an exactly identical world to PewDiePies, but it is not the same, you cant just come across him or whatever. The reason he was probably annoyed at the seed being figured out was spoilers, because fans could play the world themselves and discover certain biomes, structures etc before Pewdiepie does or just straight up drop the seed in some specialized websites that tell you the coordinates of anything you care to search for. If you like playing "blind" and exploring for yourself, well meaning fans dropping the coords of that thing you are looking for ican be annoying.
(Its the same reason I dont use those websites much, finding coords and flying to them is less fun than exploring and stumbling across something naturally)
Philza didnt play Survival, he plays Hardcore. They are pretty similar game modes but you can only die once in Hardcore, while dying isnt more than a temporary annoyance in Survival. He had the same world for five years, and then died to a Baby Zombie in an instantly viral clip (he was also the main streamer I watched when DSMP was around in case it wasnt obvious enough lol)
