In literally 3 1/2 seconds, you sold me. Done.
Impulsive. You are
This is insanely awesome, I've been trying to decide between this and a mesa mini rec. After seeing this video, I think its the Friedman that wins out.
That song is sick! Make an album full of songs like that and I'd buy it.
Sweet. Man, you change guitars so fast.
Loved the opening, I have been in a 90s grunge kick all weekend and was listening to Jerry a few minutes ago. But you sounded Sick!!
In 2065, this badass machine will be eventually called the JJ Sr., guaranteed! Cool showcase my man!
Opening song was awesome..so AIC...sick.. amp sounds amazing.
That was amazing.
my god the twangy tones in the intro was great XD
Ordered it today! This was a hard decision. So many amps to choose from. Needed something versatile ✔️ , something smaller for home recording studio ✔️ , a tone machine ✔️ congratulations Friedman jj jr you win!
That thing sounds so fucking SWEET!
Dude that tone for Runaround 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻Spot on
Awesome review, sounds amazing. The JJ models are the best sounding Friedman's that I have heard, by far (to me). Need one of these lol.
Good Morning Robert Baker! I swear my morning can just be blah and your positive energy just fires me up! Another great vid🤘🤘🤘
GOOD LORD. That thing sounds RIDICKULUSSSSSS.
Usually, intro's are boring. But this one was not! Amazing!!
Unreal tone. Holy crap. The riff and solo ain't bad either. :)
Drew Elliot that’s because he rips off jerry Cantrell’s rif for “stone”
I love your guitar playing man. Especially the way you implement the minor pent scale. Everyone attacks it different but your way is amazing. Your picking is so flowing and effortless.
That thing smokes! Killer tones, and great opening track. Man, I might cave and finally get a real amp.
You would be verrrrry happy with this amp.
@@RobertBakerGuitar Robert, Do you like the JJ Junior better than your BE-50 Deluxe. I like it alot, but not as much as my BE-50! Great video as usual! Thanks.
@@sonnyseabury4051 Not as much as my 50 but I do really like it. Has a thicker sound than the 50 HBE side
@@RobertBakerGuitar Great demo, Robert! This amp seems to cover all my favorite Friedman tones. Which reverb & delay did you use in the loop? Thanks for putting this out there!
Robert Dude!!!! this is my favorite tune you have done!!! Kinda half Baker and half Canttell sounding = Awsome!!
Awesome opening song. Man this is a very high priced amp. Nice to hear though. Kind of like the Freedman guitars nice too look at but above my pay grade.
Peter Brown Perspective is everything i suppose. Personally I can’t believe how cheap this amp is....
Actually not that bad considering what it will do. I’m not saying it’s cheap but you get a lot for your money. I think they are around 1500.
@@black.iczelion LOL. And I'm not a Dr or a Lawyer! ;-)
*Friedman * that pay grade shows.
It is difficult to put a value on great tone or gear that inspires you.
I just ordered one yesterday. My KSR Orthos and Ceres are my baby but I wanted something Marshall esq . Everyone bitching about it being too much when its really comparable to other made in the U.S. amps of this size.
Ordered one and waiting!!! Its killing me!! Hope it lives up to the hype!!
Oh it will i love mine.the jbe is the star of this amp i never turn mine off ha
@@axesofjusticeguitarworksho7275 still waiting for it to ship!! Sweetwater keeps telling me a couple more weeks. Anyone else waiting?
@@doughobbs6625 I waited 4 months and mines finally on its way,but not from Sweetwater.. I did email Friedman about 3 weeks ago and was told "testing and shipping as fast as possible"..I was caught off guard when I got the shipping notice and tracking number..look at AMS right now..they show 1 IN STOCK now..but that won't last long so hurry !
@@rosskrause3926 I got in on good financing so Im trying to hold out. I've never had to wait so long on a piece of equipment before. Thanks for the heads up about the one at AMS. A lesson in patience lol
@@doughobbs6625 good on the good finaning...I just checked tracking and it's only 500 miles away from me now,so I am patiently waiting ss best I can !
Finally, a good sound demo. I can count on you to make this amp shine!
I own that amp, its amazing and I have no use for my JCM800 studio now
Wow! Really eh? Have you tried it w/o a cab and direct into a DAW?
@@darellville No, I only ran in into a 4×12 Mode four cab also a 2x12 V30's.
@@OGPokey151 did you find it could keep up with live situations? Basically asking did it stand up compared to larger wattage amps ?
@@darellville if you have a very heavy handed drummer it can struggle. I take guitar lessons from the lead guitarist of Fu Manchu. When I bought the amp, I took it into his studio, he really liked it, in fact he used it to record their latest album. He ran his own signature and and my amp. Mine was for the solo's also mixed in the rythem. So this was run in a professional studio. From what Bob said is they play very loud in the studio and it struggled to keep up but he emphasized, they play loud. I had the whole band sign it which for me is bad ass that my amp in the actual one on their album. He ended up buying the same 20w jj. He uses it for his lessons now.
To keep up in a live situation I think it would depend on your sound style too. If you run settings to cut through, it should be fine. Also the sensitivity of your speakers. Will matter
Needs more wah in the solo, other than that, perfectly Cantrell.
Damn that sounds good. Too bad you had to send it back. :(
Your riff game has been awesome lately
Opening track reminds me of Quake 2 OST :)
Another amp that I HAVE TO HAVE that I don't have money for!
Demo very reminiscent of Farmikos (Joe Holmes' band, formerly of Ozzy)! Good stuff...
kitoyobeni1 I was thinking the same. Great band
"Intro song is flat out awesome bro, what part of Ohio are u from im from Clermont County ohio not far from Cincinnati"
the beard certainly grew back quickly.... Continuity error!!!
Or that punishing tone just made it grow instantly!!😂😂
You becomin Zakk Wylde with that wall of beard, man
Oh the GAS is strong in this one!
superjet113 yes! I thought I was the only one who used that phrase.
Opening song sounded like an Alice And Chains song wow I seriously thought it was a cover
70% AIC, 30% Tool
Sounds fantastic!!!
Best RUclips amp demo I've heard in a looooong time. Killer amp and super tight playing as always.
"You good bro? Why ya rollin the gain down!?!?!😆
Sounds GREAT!!!
That was a great tune. Belongs on an album. Must have taken a while to mix though.
The song you are playing is absolutely awesome!!! This is a song to rule the stages. Ever thought about having a singer sing to it and bring it onto the stage??? By the way, love the Amp... Jerry Cantrell fan also
Hi Robert!
What speaker did you use in torpedo ? Sounds killer!
Sounds great!
Would have gotten it in a heartbeat if it was a bit cheaper, around 1000$. 1500$ is a bit much for me unfortunately
Yoni Kup A BE is around $5000, and a JJ is $3700 (US. Never mind what it would cost here in Canada.). I think $1500 is a great great deal.
@@lonnyhandwork422 for a friedman, yeah. But for the average player it's still a high price for a 20w head
@@yonikup2865 The wattage doesn't make it that much cheaper, nor make it an amp intended for the casual player. That said, I totally agree with you that it's out of reach for most casual or beginner players (but then that's not Friedman's market). Of course it depends on how important it is to you... when I was 14 I worked my butt off for an entire summer++ and bought a JCM800 with 2-4x12 cabinets. Paid about $8000 in today's $$'s. Insane for a beginner who couldn't play worth $hit but...
@@lonnyhandwork422 im considering getting the ax8. Seems like a great unit. Either that or the jj with a 1x12/2x12
@@yonikup2865 Either a really great choice I'd say. A lot more flexibility with the Ax8 of course. Personally I've moved to modelers for live work (cause lets face it 99.99% of the audience won't hear a difference.) and tube amps for in the studio (tho getting great results with some new VSTs amp sims). But I'm clearing a shelf for the JJ! ;-)
this zone that you're in here, this is seriously something: thanks for the demo--I happen to have this head but--believe it or not--have not been able to give it a go yet. This episode, you're showing us some great stuff along the fretboard. Nicely done--I hope I can approach that sound a little bit one of these days.
The demo reminds me of a good song off of Metallica's Load and Reload.
glad you did not mention 'St Anger'
I'm torn between this and the revv g-20.
Same. The D20 creeps in a bit, for pedal platform action, but I gotta be honest, I really want that high gain tube distortion! The Fortin Sigil is also a contender for me.
I was stuck between this and the G20 as well... and in the end the JJ won because while the G20 has some amazing features the JJ Tone (and This video which Ive watched repeatedly!) Sold me!
Sick song and I want this amp now
I have one, good rock amo but wish it had some more low end and the mids are very high, but in a live settings its pretty good to punch trough, the sound is nice crunchy not very beautiful more nasty and mean not for bluesy type stuf...
What about doing an investigative search for awesome BUDGET amp heads? I've heard some no name killer tube heads.
Jet City is about it.
Blackstar is budget, MKII seem pretty cool
A bit pricey but really versatile... excellent demo and review BTW Robert !
For a Killer sounding two channel amp I can use in my home, the studio and live at gigs with an XLR out, it's very reasonably priced. Great video and thankfully, I will not have to send mine back!!
Scrumptious
Truth on that with a great amp you don't really miss the reverb as much.
Goddamn that tone just makes me want to grab my LP and crank out Them Bones
Sounds soooo good...still deciding this or Revv 20 w built in torpedo it's tough that Jerry side is amazing
Damn you Friedman ! NOW my Les paul wants that amp ! Thanks alot
The JJ Jr. paired with that horizontal 2x12, perfect match.
Who need commercials, when you have such a reviewer? That track is nasty, loved it ^_^
Figures this thing comes out just a year after I pony up and decide to buy a Runt 20 Combo... lol.
That song at the intro is excellent as is your playing!
awesome video.. the amp sounds killer ..
pity you have to send it back
Can anyone tell me if this is loud enough for band practice without a pa?
Sick amp, sick song! 🤘
Well done man! I have the big boy version but you did a damn fine job representing the Jr!
I’m convinced any Friedman amp is killer. By the way don’t send it back. Haha. Also love the tune. There needs to be more music like this in today’s world.
Agree...keep it. Sell some other amps....lol
Have a marshall dsl 201 sounds like crap compared to this
Awesome. This tone is unbelievable. Great playin' and mixing too.
Rob you should try a schector hellraiser with a line six v 240 . Sounds like fuckin Godzilla stomping around . LoL
That tune was killer dude!
I love it, check out carr mercury V 15 watt
Carr is killer and the V is like a hot old Marshall yet cleans up like a Fender Deluxe reverb.
Mine will be here thursday.. hope I made the right decision.. wasn't sure if this will suit me.. was going to get the Pink Taco.
Im still on the fence. Love the Pink Taco but this has more features and Im thinking can still do the same Taco tone? with a little roll off of gain.
How does it clean up with the guitar volume?
Really well doesn't lose all the highs like most amps
@@RobertBakerGuitar cool! This looks like a must buy so.. dang
Vintage JCM 800s all over eBay for $1200; 100W, great mojo, and better long term investment. But hey, my dumb ass just bought a JVM1H for too much $.......
Your summer highlights are coming in - so lovely! (Nice riffage, too)
I really want this amp! Friedmans are awesome!
signal chain please! tell us all the hidden post-eqing please & how you mic'd the friedman. pls!
Hey homie only post EQ is me cutting some low end in the song the out of the mix has no Post EQ at all. I'm running into my Twonotes live for the cab and mic into a 4x12
@@RobertBakerGuitar thanks for the info! you have an awesome sound!
Intro song is amazing dude👍😎
Please Lord don't let me sell my 101B to get this little thing.
That song rocked. And that amp can’t help but hear the quality there, notably a step above the rest. I’m tempted to treat myself. Way over the top for me, $3k in Australia, and I’m not that great, but wow. Never had a good amp in my life, maybe I should treat myself with this beast.
Did you get it? If so how are you liking it?
@@mountain7777 yeah I got the Friedman Runt 20. Its beautiful, I love it, so glad i did get it and not just a marshall or something like that. No regrets, get one.
How did you grow a beard so fast!?? 😂👍 that intro song was badaaaassss. Did you write that?
haha and yep wrote it for the video :)
@@RobertBakerGuitar It's awesome! Do you have an album somewhere with the full versions of all these awesome songs you write for your vids?
@@RobertBakerGuitar .....great writing on that intro.....those ascending bends were getting it in
Man, what a stone-solid intro! Awesome!!!!!
The only thing stopping me from buying this amp after playing it for the first time is the fact that I want to play through a mini silver jubilee before my final decision but those are my two dedicated options for that stripped back rock and roll along with the extra heavy, crisp tonal options
That intro song is so good, dude. If this isn't already an existing song, it needs to be.
Stone
Proper review. Respect! 5:08 oof
Love the amp, not the smaller cab made for it. What is that one you're using in this vid, please? Very nice all around! Thanks.
Just ordered mine today.
Ive never been more excited about anything in my life. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Great jam on the intro ...fuck man!
Your playing and compositions reminds me of Doug Rappoport.
Killer! I Know Somethin (Bout You)! Bitchin’ song!
ha you're the only one that caught that :)
Robert Baker What can I say, man? They’re my favorite. Props to you for sneaking in that little diddly in there. Lol.
Sounds great man but I don't like EL84s all time Considering DS40 w KT88s plus they sound great at low volumes so WTH Little thing crushes So glad you did some clean tones in there He is a genius o clean as well as killer drive I LOVE the big hairy cleans w volume knob tweaked down Good stuff 👍 Good demo
Robert which would you prefer the Revv G20 or the JJ and why?
Awesome playing fella
Yeah nice amp but loving that second half of the solo. 👌
Brother your beard grew back so fast! 🤤
Awesome review. Curious, which ownhammer IR did you use in the intro song?? Keep up the good work.......
Dude.....I guarantee my man D Rapps would destroy some lead to that Bakemaster! That's how I heard it. Along with your sizzling leads of course pal.
4:32 is this an Extreme riff?
So this always has a dummy load built in? I'm just wondering because if you wanna use your own cab IR's do you just go from the speaker out to your Hi-Z In or (DI Box--->Interface)(I only have line in's on my interface so that's what I would do) Or is there a way to turn off the built in cab sim? Thanks, Great Review
Sounds killer. Guess the 8 thumbs down are the guys with the better video's of themselves posted. Now where are those ?
Damnit !
