Navy SEAL Fitness Test. Good news on this one is the run is only 1.5 miles. Bad news is it starts with a 500 yard swim.
Hahahaha! Would be funny
I just did that yesterday for my swim team but I did 8000 meters
Bet. Sounds “fun”
Marine is harder...
I said this in the last video 😂😂
I think you should include a Marine when doing their test or Navy Seal when doing theirs along side you guys. It might add a little perspective and maybe some comedy relief.
Daniel Deal infantry marines will make him look weak.
Daniel Deal where’s he gonna get a US Marine?😂
@@MFAM-Joseph if he pays one to come out, he could get one. We don't make a lot money. lol
@TheOne111 I don't remember, isn't 24:30 a failure for every group under 40?
Depends on the age of the person running it, typically for a good 3 mile time you want 19:30-22:00 minute 3 mile, crunches 115, and pull-ups 16+
These bodybuilders did surprisingly well considering 1. they did not practice beforehand and 2. bodybuilders aren't necessarily fit, especially when endurance comes into play.
Yea the second guy when doing his crunches didn’t count, his elbows aren’t tight to his body
Zachary Ball you realize this is the Marine Corps PFT right? During the crunches, they were holding the feet & legs correctly. This isn’t the army dude 💀💀
@Razh 80 😂😂😂
Zachary Ball The Marine Corps stopped doing sit-ups years ago because they figured out the obvious, there is no added benefit vs crunches and can actually cause back injuries.
Cutting that run close..
Razh 80 oof. Sorry my dude
You know when he refers to laps as reps that he doesn't ever run lol
You'd have to be a little special to call a lap a rep lmao.
It amazes me that you two probably haven’t gotten off your asses and ran 3 miles ever but you still comment on how bad they are at running😂
Collin Carpenter funny how cross country runners do this every day... like me..... 6 mile recovery day today :)
@@collincarp0546 I walk and sprint for 3 hours a day, rest days is a 2 hour walk, one day a week I hike 4 hours with a 10kg backpack. What about you? And I never said anything about their ability to run I said he's stupid for calling a lap a rep lol.
Hahahahaha!
As a former marine, please do the Marine Combat fitness test (CFT)as a part 2!! We had to do a PFT and a CFT each year.
That would be great to watch. Just about every U.S. Marine I've ever worked with considers the CFT as a better test of fitness.
I was thinking CFT 😂 I would love to see people attempt the muf
They messed up on the crunches and screwed themselves on the pull-ups. And yes as a Marine they should do the CFT.
No offense, but I was under the impression that once a Marine always a Marine. I have friends that are no longer serving and still say that they ARE Marines..
@@bcbeneli5778 I agree, once a Marine always a Marine. It was what has been instilled in us and it also depends on how strongly you chose to identify yourself once your time serving has ended. I will always be a Marine, but transitioning out of service I proudly consider myself a U.S. Marine-Veteran.
They’re forgetting the mentality factor, “if this marine’s pft score doesn’t improve, their commanding officer has the right punish them at their discretion.”
sounds kinky.
pete 😂
And there forgetting the DIs yelling and screaming at you the whole way through
@@timburm8847 That's literally one or two out of your whole career...
If you fail....not if it doesn't improve a pass is a pass
The year before I got out of the Marines, a Marine recruit shattered the previous record of 65 pull-ups by doing 76 during his final PFT in boot camp.. He was 30 years old.
Need to do the US Navy SEALS fitness test or US Army Rangers fitness test! You will vomit.
Sounds fun
US navy SEALS
Did it 30 years ago. Can almost pass this at 56 (o, my knees!)
MattDoesFitness do the seals PST. I’m training for that now
@RedExoticYT There is no "Delta Force " PT test. There is the round robin fitness test for US Army special forces which is the closest thing to a SFOD/CAG PT test
Why not meet some of the world’s strongest men like Brian Shaw / Eddie Hall / Hafthor Bjornsson, to accompany them through the day, eat their daily diet (about 12,000 to 18,000 calories a day), attend their training. etc
This could give something huge!
(without forgetting that these guys are the strongest but also the nicest/humble/polite & coolest guys in the world)
Love your vids btw keep going dude you awesome
Thanks dude & I appreciate the suggestion
Yes I agree with you two reaching out to Brian Shaw. And doing RUclips videos with him and some of the other world strongest men.
This is a sick idea!
Best suggestion so far by 3 miles ;)
Awesome idea
You guys make me feel good at my worst in the Marines. I've never had those kind of abs or ever been in that ripped shape. I commend you both for your effort. You should try the Marines combat fitness test as well. It was fun!
My husband recently retired from teh USMC and I remember him coming home telling me that they would compete with each other to see who could do the most pull-ups. He said that that was the worst part for most of them, the rest "wasn't too bad." The idea of a 3 mile run for me is nauseating, how he thought it was easy is beyond me.
Hey dont wear headphones for any of it. One of the things that makes the run hard is that you dont have music!
Aidan berry agreed, if I had been permitted a music, I could have ran for many more miles. And road marches could have gone for days. Distract the mind and the body can go Soo much further!
smart
3 miles is easy if the pass is 28mins without music. Is it because you're meant to do the whole fitness test in one go that it's harder? 3 miles for me without the crunches and pull ups before would take me like 16 to 20 minutes.
I prefer running with out music. Working out too.
@@Greebob11 Yes, it's one event right after the other
I don’t know why I’m watching this I can’t even do one pull-up and I only walk to the fridge
😂
Funny Trailers Me 2. 😪😢😭

Funny Trailers mmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Funny Trailers wasnt it a chin-up 🤥👌
Marine pull up strategy: arms super wide, overhand, go as fast possible. Waaaaaay easier to get 20. These guys are doing way too much work.
Michael Padilla I agree. I always maxed out with that technique. Almost always got a 290 or more. Run kicked my but.
ANAYALATOR OFF ROAD is the run harder cause you did the max crunches and pull-ups before or is the run just hard in general?
Josh Rodgers for me, doing the max crunches right before the run took a little bit out of strength of my thighs which affected my run time I feel like. But you have to take into consideration when I served we did a full sit up. Elbow to knee.
coz they’re doing it “right”
Overhand is harder than underhand tho. I’ve been lightly training for a few months, I Can always do more underhand
The second guys arms weren’t down during the crunches.
Do the murph fitness test
1-mile run
100-pull-ups
200-push-ups
300-squats

Until he finds out it’s a CrossFit wod...
It's a CrossFit test, thousands of people a year do it. Maybe you could do it with a group of crossfitters, like a community thing. See a parallel of your training and theirs. I would enjoy that 🙂
But do it with clean Form not crossfit 'pull-ups' rather known as the fish out of water or the crazy monkey
You doing the most with these tests and then there's me ...
The most fitness I get in a day is from walking from my bed to the fridge and back
Haha!
No risk of failing that one for me!!!! And if I do.....I’ll just move the fridge closer!!!
Try the pacer test ( elementary and middle and high school P.E was hell because of this )
It was nice to flex on everyone though

I used to have a perfect 300 PFT when I was in the Marine Corps. It was awhile ago we did sit ups instead of crunches but I ran a 17:50 3 mile.
Motivator
That’s mad, I can do it in about 18.30 at 15, I couldn’t imagine taking 40 seconds off of that 😂, honestly it’d be the crunches that I’d fail on tho
Daffy Potter also imagine being a raging alcoholic and out of shape. That’s the Marines 😂
17:10 at OCS was my PR
@@Archelaus_v you did XC?
Few practice runs and technique tips you guys would kill it
Still watching the video, but as a U.S. Marine, I'd like to point out that chalk or any other kind of supports on the pull ups aren't allowed. Still good though, you guys obviously have more weight on you than the average person though so anyone who faults you for your low pull ups or run time is ignorant.
For the crunches, you both forget the most effective technique for success: having your partner count by 2s (1,2,4,6,9,10,12,13,15, etc...)
Good job on the run though boys. I know overweight, cigarette smoking, alcoholic Marines who can beat that easily, but 3 miles is a bitch in itself, and theres not many people who can complete it.
It's interesting to see bodybuilders who I follow (Mike, I watch a lot of your content, good stuff) step into my world for a bit, and I think you guys did an awesome job! If you guys were based in the US, I'd tell you guys to try getting access to a Marine Corps base and giving the obstacle course for a try; it would make for a good video. Peace!
Just ran my first full PFT as a poolee. Usually we run a IST but we ran the PFT and I really embraced the suck😂. I did my 3 miles in 23:14, finished with 92 crunches and 14 pull ups starting at a complete dead hang. I'm much lighter than these guys though I'm 5,9 amd weigh 150lbs. Do you think this is a pretty solid score or what could I focus on before basic training?
@@mattwood1225 Most run times aren't spectacular either way, and when you get to boot camp you'll be running all the time anywa, so I would work on your pull ups and crunches. It's easier to progress with those exercises and easier to max out your points in each category. That being said, if you have time for it, definitely work in running too. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to improve all three at the same time, but I'm saying you're closer to maxing out with pull ups and crunches. And being able to max out your pull ups gets you respect with the drill instructors and the other recruits. Now that also means they could put you as guide or squad leader and fuck with you more, but at least it puts you in prospects for honor graduate. Just depends how far you wanna progress in this gun club.
I remember when I was in, some of the best runners ate burritos and smoked cigarettes the morning of and ran 17s... these guys definitely wasted energy slowing their descent during the pullups and crunches... pullups work better than chin ups to max imo... also if they had a bigger belly they wouldn't have to move as far for crunches. I've always been a crappy runner, usually coming in last at 23 minutes... so..... I feel good about myself🤣
Support isn't allowed, but when I ran my final PFT (long ago... enough that' I'm not confident it hasn't changed), a perfect score was 20 pull ups, not 23. And you are allowed to switch grips too, as long as you don't come off the bar. So if you're arms are worn out, you can get a few more from those fresh back muscles.
Always started my 3 miles with a good smoke first. They should have brought their arms lower. Less distance to go up. Plus your buddy doesn't count by one.
Im currently a marine and I'll never forget the nerves and stress of having a to run these tests and get a good score during bootcamp. With all the stress and lack of nutrition on top of being sick and sleep deprived hardest thing I've been through for sure good job guys
Lol. Bootcamp is the hardest PFT you'll run. Once you hit the fleet they are cake because your normal everyday PT will fuck you up to the point you wish you went to college instead. At least that's how it was for me.
@@danemiller4852 dang, it's really that bad huh? I'm headed to bootcamp either January or March in California. Is there any way on preparing for this?
@@luigipineda3090 depends on your MOS honestly. But 9/10 times it's actually really fun. Running up mountains down the other side to the beach, then filling a water proofing bag with water and running back up the mountain down the otherside with that massive bag of water on your back. Been forever since I did my last PFT. Nice to know that I might still be able to pass it.
To put the run in perspective:
18 minutes/3 miles = 6min/mile = most varsity high school cross country teams
14-15min/3mi = 4:40-5:00min/mile = elite marathoners (over 26.2 miles)
12:37min/5K (3.1miles) = men's world 5K record
Most 5K races (3.1 miles) for amateur runners finish in 18-35 minutes. Your time of 26:24 corresponds to an 8:48min/mi pace, which is respectable for an "average" runner and very respectable for two guys who don't run! Great job!

Even if you can do the physical, most people are broken by the psychological tests practiced by the military, especially special forces units. You can be as strong as an ox or a bodybuilder I guess but if you crack mentally then the physical tests are inconsequential.
exactly so that's why it doesn't even matter about all these guys being jacked or huge off steroids and stuff because if you're not mentally strong it don't matter you not going to last the point of the military is to break you down and rebuild you into the soldier they see fit

My personal record when I was in the Corps was 42. A weight vest and do dips, pulls ups, push ups and planks. Max reps between exercises for half an hour daily. Best advice I could give anyone on increasing their pull ups.
EDIT: Cardio is easily the most important aspect of a Marines physical training, which is why we run all the damn time. It sucks, and most of us hate it, but were damn good at it. I only ran over 19:00 twice in 5 years. Once in basic training on a broken foot 21:37, and the other 5 months later 19:52. The fastest guy I ever personally trained with ran a 16:23.
Marine Corps is about endurance not muscle size LOL. Most Marines that are fit are skinny including Recon.
The Navy maybe be the best one to join with muscle size and be okay. Army and Marnies is very hard to complete

Hey Matt, I just want to say thank you for making videos because you’ve made me get up and workout more

It’s usually easier to do pull-ups on base because we use thinner bars that are fully taped so you don’t lose grip
I went through USMC boot camp in 1988. I think it was like this for the scoring: Pull ups 5 to pass and 20 for perfect score; sit ups (not exactly crunches) hands behind the head elbow in front and elbows touch the knees if I remember correctly, I can't remember how many to pass, maybe 35 and I think maybe 60, or 80, for perfect score and I think it was maybe 2 minutes; running was 3 miles with 24 minutes to pass and 18 for perfect score. This did not change the whole time I was in until 1992. Pull ups were my weak point and always kept me from getting a perfect PFT (Physical Fitness Test) score. Great video and fun to watch. Thanks and cheers.
You should do like the NFL combine tests. Just the ones you can do, like the bench press, 40yd dash, vertical leap, broad jump, etc
Would be decent actually
US Marines Combat Fitness Test then Navy SEALS and Army Rangers.
advice from a marine trainee:
pull-ups-
when u get ur chin above the bar, just drop to dead hang. u are using a lot of extra energy controlling ur drop.
dont stop, just go. if u stop u will get more tired
if u think u can't get any more pull ups with ur grip in the one direction then switch grips. at boot camp they will have u switch grips if u don't think u can do more
I have to say that i am happy to see that u did ur research on the crunches because they aren't normal crunches
crunches-
so the minimum for crunches is 55 to pass not 70
how u were holding his legs is exactly how u have to hold others legs for crunches in the marines
when doing crunches dont stop, u will get even more tired if u stop
u both actually passed the crunches and the pullups
3 mile run-
let me say first that u have to finish a 1.5 miles in 13 minutes and 30 seconds for men and women have to finish 1.5 miles in 14 minutes and 30 seconds
besides what i mentianed u guys both passed and did a fairly great job

Yes, but that's the incorrect form so technically none of them counted.
@@brianwilliamsjr6996 I hear ya bro but he technically did have better (crunch) form since the only requirement was to bring your arms to your legs. All I was trynna point out is that he could have gotten more reps in if he was doing the shorter range of crunch in the same form.
@@Raymondstu I dunno man honestly I find the crunch way harder than the full range sit up. Those crunches keep your abs engaged the entire time. Full range sit up only during the middle. I get everyone is different but he may have ended up doing them that way because it's easier for him

It consisted of a 15 meter buddy drag, 15 meter low craw, landing a grenade toss on a target, as many ammo can above the head lifts you could do in a minute and then a 100 meter sprint. And.... we had to do it all in full kit, also our unit required we had our rifles on us the whole time. So much painful fun!!
A day of meals backwards! Eat Dinner @ breakfast time, eat lunch @ lunch time and breakfast @ dinner time lol
Matt needs to do this
@@kieranhawkes3264 yeah for sure! I'll keep posting this comment untill matt does It haha

For the crunches a tip is don’t stop until you absolutely have to, and get your butt as close to the person holding your legs. Keep the speed and never stop. I currently can do 150 crunches, sad part I can only do 11 pull ups but a trick for that is when you drop use that momentum to get back up, you’ll be good.
What kicked my arse on the Required Fitness Level test on basic training in the NZ Army was that we did the run before the crunches. I did not expect the run to have messed up my abs. I passed the second RFL on Basic.
NYPD test. 30 donuts in 60 minutes
That's actually way harder than the NYPD test but judging by the standards that they are currently using for hiring, the new cops may actually be able to pull it off.
Lmfaaoo
The moment the second guy did the crunches he didn’t do it correctly 😂😂
None of Max’s crunches count his arms are off of his chest
I’m not sure why I didn’t get credit for being at 6:28 for doing crunches. Smh.
BTW - referencing your channel video - that wasn't gunny knuckles running the interview, was it?
OOH RAH!! As a U.S. Marine, THIS was a very enjoyable video to watch.
Alright so ima go hard on you. US Airforce physical test, BUT specifically CCT.
Will look it up...
MattDoesFitness Control Combat Technician, pretty intense training. Maybe even try Paratrooper
Y’all should try the usmc combat fitness test as well
the scoff when he heard "3 mile run" 😂😂😂
I love your channel Matt keep doing what your doing! ❤️
And as a challenge, eat junk food at a gym while training, it would be funny seeing people’s reactions 😂
No harm but I think after a long run the worst thing is to lay down and it’s the first clip. Correct me if I’m wrong
You are not wrong, after a run you arent supposed to bend over, lay down, you are supposed to hydrate and walk in a circle
Hands on ur head and walk a cool off lap
It's better for the views though, also makes better thumbnails
@@AnonymousJohnAutobon Some workouts will have you on the ground after you finish them though... not saying this was one of them but it also depends on your fitness level obviously.
It's cool down,.and prevent pooling of.blood.
You guys should do the ACFT the new army test!
Do a Marine Corps CFT at some point!!! You guys did great, especially for doing it without training for those specific events. Marines are notorious for having some of the worst health habits yet somehow have the ability to max out a PFT/ CFT. There's people that smoke half a pack before the PFT and sweat alcohol during it. We pass our fitness tests because there's a lot of little thing we do to improve our scores. Not that you're ever going to do a USMC PFT again but. . .
Pull ups: You can't come down from the bar or use the sides for support, but you are allowed to switch grip when you want. Relax your muscles on the decent; your muscles get more tired quicker if you're using them to come down instead of doing a controlled drop. Also tilt your head backwards and don't go up as high. You just need to get your chin over the bar, not your whole head.
Crunches: One thing I do is the same as the pull-ups; relax your abdomen on the decline. I don't use any energy coming down so I can do a lot more reps a lot faster. I max out with half a minute to spare and look around at all the struggling males. And, if it makes you feel better, not a single one of Mike's crunches would've counted. His arms where raised off of his body and to count for score, they have to be flat against your torso. His counter would've been like " zero, zero, zero. . . "
Run was good. I'm garbage at running so I have nothing for that.
