@@MattDoesFitness your my most watched youtuber
Abdulla hello there!
Take a drink every time he falls
Hey he still got back up everytime
For the Fire and Manoeuvre segment you did have the timings wrong. You have 8 seconds to sprint between each sections, from the prone position. You then wait 8 seconds and repeat. Normally you would have a PTI stood watching and blowing a whistle every eight seconds so that you know when to move and when to stay prone. The final stretch is done in 55 seconds (15m sprint and 15m crawl) however you have to do this section with rifle, helmet, body armour and webbing totalling approximately 15kg off the top of my head which does make it harder. This gear will stay on you for all the remaining tests.
The whole test is actually a really good test, it simulates a tab (tactical advance to battle) with full kit, then dropping into your fighting gear for the run to simulate moving into the fight, the fire and manoeuvre replicates actual fire and manoeuvre towards an enemy position, then everything else is either resupplying or casevac for injured soldiers. It's cheeky but very doable
All in all, good effort lads

Army training: Strength + SURVIVAL

I was in the British army and to do this we had a Bergen with webbing, water and a rifle to carry and we were wearing combat boots but the video is interesting as it lets the general public and others see how much you have to push yourself in the forces, I was in the parachute regiment and it was the best years of my life keep it up guys

Well, adaptation from training is specific!
Matt omfg I love u
yeah, i'm no bodybuilder. By conventional standards i'm not even fit. But this essentially looks like yard work at a summer cottage to me. Pick up a stone, carry it to the other side of the property, pick up a 25kg bag of sand from the car and carry it around the house to the back yard. A neighbor some 2-3 streets from you wants some nice small stones for his garden, and I have some. Well, i could take the wheel barrow, but why make it easy, let's use 2 buckets. And finally "That 120kg stone looks much better at the other end of the property. Let's start rolling." or "My outdoor fireplace would look much better with a ring of stones around it. Better use big stones. so about minimum 50kg per stone. Also lets make the ring higher by stacking the second ring on top of the first."
In conclusion. You guys need to do more yard work.

They’re not very big, the only reason they look this way is because of how little cardio they do.

Matt will definitely not be able to beat royal marine fitness test it’s harder than seals
Get them on bottom field, or a good mud run then the Tarzan course that should bring on some tears
In my opinion the seal test is harder than RMC test I’ve done the RMC lymstone exmouth training twice back in 80s wen I was in usmc the RMC are gung ho as phuk good lads top blokes but I didn’t find training any harder than usmc training but I did do a lot of training with rok marines of South Korea and their training is gruelling, I would say SBS training would be equal to navy seal training which both are higher level SF training
@@edsalais1263 I always thought SEALS where considered as a US special forces team anyways so yeh SBS would be close match but in terms for training Bootnecks have a good old slog and the Army BFT doesn’t even come close, as for the USMC I’ve had a few run ins with them but generally good guys with some Gucci kit
Speaking as a former RMC42 I can still say after being out 15+ years that the RMC course is STILL the longest and hardest in the world for any military unit. All special forces require a "personal training requirement for fitness". There are no compulsory fitness tests once you are in the SAS or SBS, SEALS etc as they expect you to maintain the standard you need to operate. Comparing these to anyone in the forces fitness wise is laughable. These guys are muscle monsters not built for cardio or endurance, it always will be a ridiculous comparison. Just pure click bait. Are you talking about the Recce (South African Special Forces) test? It does sound fun: 50 continuous push ups without breaking rhythm, 67 sit ups in two minutes, 175-metre fireman's lift run within 65 seconds, 5-kilometre run within 24 minutes, a rope climb and 40 six-metre shuttle runs in 95 seconds, scale a 10-foot-high (3.0 m) wall, complete a fifteen-kilometre march in less than 120 minutes and perform 120 shuttle kicks.

As someone from quite a big military background, at 13:00 in the vid you are basaically doing a technique called pepper potting. It is very doable in 55 secs beacuse we literally throw ourselves at the ground and jump back up in a matter of secs. We use ( I’m up - he sees me - I’m down) so you run dive jump run dive jump. Spetsnaz GRU (Russian Special Forces Physical Test)
1. General Stamina Test
The distance a soldier runs in 12 minutes
Under 2.0 Km = bad
2.0 - 2.4 Km = fair
2.4 - 2.8 km = good
Over 2.8 km = excellent
2. Muscle test
Four exercises performed back to back without a break, 10 times each. Four exercises make up one series.
Exercise 1 = Push ups in prone position
Exercise 2 = From a squatted position move to a prone position by kicking the legs back.
Exercise 3 = raise legs from a prone position on back (to build a 90° angle)
Exercise 4 = From a squatted position, jump upward fully stretching the legs and body, hands behind the back of the head
Grading
1 - 2 series = 0 stars
3 - 4 series = 2 stars
5 - 6 series = 3 stars
7 series = 4 stars
The full training obviously includes a lot of other crazy shit like making explosives from household materials and parachuting but this is just the physical component. Like so they can see it!

@@dpcater
You run half marathons and you're cririsizing the running requirements of soldiers who have to do many other things than just running. I would like to see you upload a video of running over 2.8 kilometers in 12 min then. Regarding the second part you completely misunderstood it. First you perform 10 push ups, followed by 10 jumps from squat position into push up position, followed by 10 leg raises to 90° while laying on your back, followed by 10 squat jumps with hands clasped behind head with full force.1 series is therefore 40 repetitions full body exercise all performed without break. 7 series will therefore be 280 full body exercises without rest. I would like to see you do it before calling it a joke. My guess is you will be crying on the floor soon into the exercise.

Train like:
UFC fighter
Boxer (Joshua's training regime)
Swimmer (Adam peaty)
Try those lads
You know that's totally waste? They all have condition and worked up lunges/oxygen which Mike and Matt don't have. Its pointless. Mike or Matt, or in this case any human, can't swim 10k without any training, or fight for 30minutes. You'd die faster.
Yes please
Ooh I want to see these
Jeeses99 I hear where you’re coming from (& I agree that conditioning is important), but in Matt’s defense, I think he, too, acknowledges the benefits to conditioning & exercises for cardiovascular health, but it’s hard for him (calorie-wise) to maintain his muscle that he’s worked hard to grow, so performing strictly cardio exercises could dwindle his muscle mass. (which he obviously wouldn’t want to lose) + Your heart rate can still be ramped up whilst lifting weights depending on your intensity.😊👍🏼
I think you'd be surprised at Adam peatys training , it would be be gym circuit based with a 2 hour swim session. Would be fun to see them in the pool even if they lasted 30 mins. Joshua training they would more likely handle better
The reason it was so difficult with the bags, was because they had no hip support. If you look at the military backpacks, they have shoulder and hip straps. Those hip straps make a world of difference lol
We had a bunch of us marines challenge our regiment on fitness. The us marines was like these to gym queen's, we killed them. You get to big size you becomes a issue. Soldiers are a different breed

Not true. You can try again the next day, if you fail again they send you home. You can try again in a few months time. You get 3 chances. Although you should do it on the first attempt.

These tests are also supposed to be done back to back with only five minutes in between wearing helmet, body armour, webbing and rifle!
Not all tests are you wearing all helmet, body armour webbing and rifle. RMT 1,2 and 3 don't require any body armour for example. But you're right they're missing essential equipment but considering its just some RUclipsrs and athlete they should've looked into wearing boots for the marches and a proper burgan for support with correct loading to avoid injuries at least even more so than without supervision.
How are you even suppose to do that in 55 seconds? I saw that they were not the fastest but with full gear how even is that going to be possible in 55 seconds.

No fuck you
Monster GG lol no.
That test is going to be easy. Done this test without prep or sport for 6 months
But I am interested how he will be doing.
I dont know about anything else, but when you carried the 25kg weights in each hand that literally was my job for quite a bit. 25Kg weights for lifts/elevators. Depending on the lift/elevator it could be anywhere between 250 to 1700kgs. I usually had to walk stairs, too.
They tested if the constructions are safe.
So I had to bring them from the truck inside the building, usually involved stairs down or up, and then have a 30 minute break while they do their tests, and then carry them back.
Mind you Im a skinny lad, no bodybuilder.
The thing why you struggle so much (with everything here) is that you have isolated strength, but not functional strength. No hating or anything, but maybe it helps putting this in perspective.
This is the truth tho.. Body builders lack functionality
What's the difference between those 2 types of strength?
@@shubhamkatyal6391 functionality is bassicaly being able to move your bodyweight and/or aditional weights as efficient as possible. While bodybuilder strength is just being able to press a certain weight with your tricep
@@shubhamkatyal6391 Well, isolation only works in that very specific movement you trained it for. Its relatively unstable in other conditions. Because that very specific training your muscles never learn stability.
So and now when you try to carry stuff, or pull shit up, or drag something, or whatever, it may activate muscles you have trained but the supporting muscles are relatively weak and will fail first. Your movements is only as strong as your weakest muscle.
This can lead to injury, and certainly leads to big and muscly bodybuilders to barely do what a soldier half of their size does.
Or me being able to carry the lift weights but being skinny as shit otherwise. (The reverse)
Very interesting - it's the "never judge a book by its cover" - only made real in your case.

Taking weights instead of water cans is much much easier because the water in the cans swings back and forth wich makes them rlly uncomfortable to carry
Yeahhhhh absolutely, & running with them is way much tougher. Also not to forget, our hands will also be a little raised, because obviously those water cans are wide in dimension, which these weights not.

@@gazjackson3076 sry i misunderstood u cause my phone said your first comment was an answer to mine and it seemed like u were saying that weights were as difficult as cans. I just saw it was a comment standin on its own. Sry i think i misinterpreted your writing.

How my parents describe going to school back in the day
La Leyenda
This is gold xD
Hahahaha!
this is too accurate
Too right. I did it, survived it, and am still badass enough to push a 125-kilo patient in a wheelchair the length of a football field with the brakes on. [absentminded badass, but still . . .]
Mike's falls were so artistic 😂😂😂
No idea why RUclips led me to your channel from this vid alone; but it did and quickly I liked and sub'd. It has suggested it again since the first time today.
Over two years I've grown to expect "The Lucas intro..." but I forgot he once wan't a part if it... now I remember my roots, but I still really love your videos.
Absolute kudos + fan,
Thanks
I'm moving to the US in three months.
But seeing the British countryside makes me want to move back to the UK again. It's such a beautiful place.
Do the “Bring sally up” push-up challenge Please!!
Rens which one? Pull ups?

The one on medicine balls
Great vid. Well done
2:55 That weather is amazing
The cinematography has been leveling up leaps and bounds! I feel like I'm watching "The Challenge" on MTV or something lol. Good stuff!
Matt : any last thoughts?
Mike: (just kill me now)
😂😂
Hahaha!
@@MattDoesFitness hi
My background is a sports coach. I am fascinated by novel training methods but am proud too that the British army is so forward looking and is using such specific functional movement based tests for candidates, compared to say doing press-ups and running. You won't be doing press-ups in a war. You will be having to hump stuff around in a backpack over uneven terrain. You will have to potentially drag a comrade to safety.
Brilliant test and brilliant effort guys.
I would say about the jerry cans that they'd be even more difficult to use i reckon because of (probably) the grip shape and the fluid moving inside. I get you had to improvise.
Great video!
9:03 when your late for a strict teachers lesson lol 😂
I'm sure the groundsman for that pitch was delighted with that.
jobsworth alert!
😂

nice to to see them doing this in the summer so we can get the good weather in :)
They made it look too easy
You know what, you guys reminds me of : Sgt. Michael Stonebridge (Matt) and his US counterpart : Sgt. Damien Scott (Mike) from the TV Series : Strike Back! in this RUclips video/(which is an awesome TV Series if you ask me). So well done Matt and Mike !!!. Keep up the good work, really an awesome video. Try do the : Frømands korpset or Jægersoldat fitness tests (And yes you guessed correct it's Danish special forces).
I'm just going to say the Green Beret Fitness Test once again
I just love how they plowed that beautiful field up with those weights 😂😂
Especially as that was the pitch, and like 3m to their left was off the field😂
Got distracted from the focus of the video by how beautiful Britain is. The one rounded brick wall. I'd read a book a day there.

That recovery from Mike made me laugh my ass off!
Both of you should have been wearing a pair of Alt-Bergs boots, see what difference that would have made.
Do it make it easier or harder?
@@joshcooper7 harder, a lot for my opinion
@@damianhrnak4793 running wise a lot harder, although would make the casevac drag a lot easier though as it would have allowed them to dig heals in to drag instead of slipping
Heavier on the legs and heart but traction is better--ish... plus ankle is well supported oddly making new muscle’s ache like fuch.
More grip, better ankle support, alt-bergs tabs would have worked lovely.
you've ruined the grass pulling those large heavy bags across the football field lol
they should try that on a Saturday morning...
I think it just made the grass less moist so it looks darker
they made the grass disappear ^^
Changing backpacks while running. Magic
Tab: quick walking, then jogging then back to quick walking and repeated until the distance is completed.
T.A.B tactical advance to battle not a quick walk
@@tiigertim1 that's what T.A.B stands for, but what i said is what u on a tab.
