Cannot believe it was that easy to fix my CX-7 front truck - when the bottom piece of metal had slipped out of that nipple , I thought I broke something internally - turns out just needed to watch this and fix it in 5 minutes!
Just got my C7 Carson Proteus today. Your videos were instrumental in helping me decide on which board to purchase so I went for it. This has been an intention for some time and was a bit overwhelming. Your instruction really helped to break down the basics and after only a few videos I was comfortable enough to take the jump and get a board. I have no prior experience or knowledge and want to use it to train to surf (no experience there either) and decompress mentally while on land. I used your technique for measuring surf stance to determine board length (and came in at 19 inches). I also watched your reviews and decided on the C7 truck. Good luck with your project. Thank you for your help in making this sport accessible to a novice. (43 year old female athlete)
I have just purchased a Carver Bing with C7 trucks. I already own a Green room with CX trucks- I prefer the C7 at the moment. Very useful video as always. Many thanks from Cornwall, UK.
Hey did you get continental or puck? I ask because i'm think about that continental vs greenroom vs proteus.. all C7 guy from shop said that is to longboardy.. i'm 6,3 ft tall and this is my first deck
@marcosfunky I'd say you can't go wrong with the Bing continental with your height- I personally prefer the adjustability and flow of the C7 trucks. I do also own a green room with CX trucks and I greatly prefer my bing set up.
Hey dude on adjusting your kingpin you could try using a flat washer on the streetside bushing instead of a cupped washer may give you an even greater range of motion since the bushing can deform even more. Could be worth investigating to dial in your ride even more.
Thank you for that video! Really helpful as I got my first C7 truck. Also good to read in the comments about upcoming problems - like people having to tighten again and again, I’ll keep an eye on that. Since my pink Riptide bushings on my Carver CX the C7 feels more stiff/stable compared to that 😅. I’m gonna experiment with the bushings and spring settings. So glad about your channel and bringing people together.
It would be nice if there were different gauge spring options for the c7. A stronger spring would be nice for heavier riders and would also have a different tension curve at a loose setting.
Smooth video, greay explained video, you have just help a peruvian surfer that is about to buy his first Carver ... A C7Mayhem Lost Killer Quiver, good luck on your live bro
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, Awesome video, thanks for sharing it! I really never got around to really study how to adjust the C7 truck, so thanks a lot for sharing it right…
Great video! Now, could u show us how to maintain the trucks and everything ? (where to grease the springs, what grease should we use, how to remove the bushings, or the bearings etc etc ...) thannnnks :-)
@Surfskate Love have you ever experienced the C7 spring significantly loosening up on you during a session? If so, what's the cure for that? I have the 33" Proteus and the truck spring setting doesn't move on me, but my 30.75" Happy does a bit. Thanks for your time and a great channel with very informative vids!
Great info. Thx! I had many C7 for years, never played with their adjustments. Just love it out of the box and that's probably tight. Cx though, I did do some changes - got one loose for really tight circles and another more tight for faster downhills. Never tried the Yow, looks like that swing must be awesome to ride.
I have the same carver with C7 trucks. I’ve been trying to do more bowl rides and having issues. Maybe I’ll try tightening the trucks a bit. Ideally I’d like some cx trucks. But everything is hard to come by atm.
Hey Steve!! I have been following you but never commented on any video, but I came across a problem with my newly bought C7 trucks. After a few minutes of carving, the front bolt keeps getting loose, so I have to adjust it multiple times during a session. What do you suggest me to do? Cheers✌🏻
Hi Steve, big fan from Thailand. Just got a C7 and having a problem with the pivot bolt loosening after 20-30 min. Disassembled and cleaned off all the grease from the threads but it seems to be reoccurring. Is this a common problem? Seems strange that i have to go around with a skate tool and tighten it all the time. The CX is just much lower maintenance. Thanks so much.
@@SurfskateLove thanks much for the reply. Glad I wasn't doing something wrong in the maintenance and/or setup. Have you ever tried the Meraki front truck with Sidewinder back truck? It is becoming a trendy setup in Thailand. Looking forward to your review of the Loaded Bolsa. Great content!
Hey Steve, thanks for the video! I just picked up a Carver with c7 trucks (coming from a Slide) would you suggest to loosen or tighten the truck and spring to get a similar feel to the Slide?
Hi Steve. How are these trucks maintained at long term? Which pieces stress most and if so, how much would it cost to replace? Because you know in my experience with the Original trucks back then (2011) I suffered a lot with the inner cams breaking with agressive carves.
Carver actually has a lifetime warranty. So depending on how you use it, if you break it they will replace it. And I'm actually not sure which pieces get the most stress.
Thanks for the video! But, I have one question about the adjustments. I tried tightening and loosening the spring and the kingpin, but can’t get rid of a constant creaking noise. It starts making the noise as soon as I place weight up front, if I remove my front foot the noise disappears. Leaning left or right doesn’t seem to make any difference in the noise. Even going as straight as possible with no leaning the noise persists. Any advice on what could be the issue? Thanks!
Yes it would be. Unfortunately, we don't have aftermarket bushings in the precise sizes for the C7 front truck. The rear on the C7 is the C2, which is the same as is on the CX. Which means you can use CX bushings on a C7 rear. But RipTide is currently working on the right sizes for the C7 front truck.
I’m a skater, i own a cruiser that I made of a broken skateboard and truck wheels of a longboard knit I want to get a carver just to cruise around the city and do couple tricks and have that feeling of surfing but I don’t know which truck type I should get? You answered my question, it smaller then the C7. I thought I might be able buy it from Carver because it harder and more money to buy it from Smoothstar. My friend found a real old smooth star at a thrift store and I got it from him and took it apart and the spring was really rusty and the link bar on the end hole was worn. Looks like it will cost me at lease $50. to order from smoothstar.

Yes, but unfortunately there are no aftermarket bushings that fit the C7 front truck yet. Rear is C2, same as the CX, so you can use CX bushings on the C7 rear.
Since I loosened the spring bolt, everytime I ride for 10-15 min it keeps getting looser and looser until it completely disengages from the spring? Anyone else having that issue and whats the fix?
Yep, I'll do it. But it's the exact same way. Spring bolt in the same position. Clockwise to tighten, counter-clockwise to loosen. I think you'll find that you want the Slide as loose as it goes. When you start tightening it, it very quickly starts feeling like a carvey longboard, rather than a legitimate surfskate.
