  • Unreported World tracks down the pregnant women fleeing war-torn Haiti who are trying to survive their pregnancies. But in neighbouring Dominican Republic, reporter Guillermo Galdos discovers an immigration crackdown at the doors of its hospitals.
    As Haitian gangs try to take over the country, the Caribbean Island’s healthcare system is in a state of collapse, and a woman and child's chances of surviving a pregnancy there are the worst in the Western hemisphere.
    To give their babies a better chance at life, thousands of Haitian women a month are giving birth in the Dominican Republic, most of them have crossed over illegally.

    What this documentary willingly avoids to mention is that already 1 third of all Dominican births are Haitian. But that is at a national level. If you check by provinces sometimes the Haitian births account for 70 to 80%.... In some localities 100% of the public school children are of undocumented migrant Haitian origin.
    This kind of documentaries want to paint DR as a rich country that is closing its doors to Haiti... When in fact, what we are doing is what you do when you are reaching your limit.
    This disingenuous documentaries always start showing the tourism of DR, to manipulate overseas audiences.
    Does anyone mind to ask first what kind of live standards Dominicans have? DR is not just Santo Domingo nor Santiago... We got poor people too who need help and are being ignored as the resources go to the Haitian migrants due to pressures from the US.....

We have from both sides, historical wounds that have not healed, let alone the difference in language, idiosyncrasy, culture, religion, and many more. Rep for not taking care of the haitians. That way, the Haitian women can have their babies, have health care and birth control. But you know what they won't because they don't care. At this rate Dom. The Dominican people already help more than all others countries combined, and taxpayers can’t afford to take in thousands or more. It’s very difficult to see children caught up in the Haitian mess. Also lobby your representatives to aid Haiti to establish democracy, and aid to develop the country. Also you can personally contact someone in Haiti and contribute directly to an individual or reorganization which aids pregnant mothers and children.

Deporting them, and maintaining borders is normal procedure everywhere in the world, but in the West NGOs and “ academics” pretend it isn’t and that this is evil. I am not being judgement towards my people I am included in these statistics I stand as a middle man Haitian government is going to have start providing for their own people in their own country. The DR may possibly start charging the Haitian government for the medical services provided for social service funds for Haitians who are illegal to get their attention.
    Some do not understand that the funds they are using at these social services in other countries are for the citizens of the country, a lot of them do not have education due to poverty in Haiti and will do anything to get out of Haiti cause there is no economy building . A lot of the men do not like using protection or don’t use it and abandoned their children they give to these woman. I am one of those children who was abandoned by my father, they make a lot of children and do not take care of them sometimes depending on the person if I was born in Haiti I would of been born at my grandfather land in Haiti but instead I was sent legally to another country with my mother who worked her behind off everyday as a single mother to provide.
    The Haitian government is not giving in. They do not care. The international government system UN needs to question why they are not taking care of their citizens each time money is giving out for Aide?where are the funds going to? What have they done to minimize deportation problems on their end ? They are not doing nothing cause they want out too I wonder if those in the government live outside of Haiti themselves.
    If I had it my way I am the new generation of Haitians descendants and there is no laws to protect business owners of medical facilities during these violent protests. The Disparors have no voice cause they keep sending them off to other counties,shutting down the economy infrastructures such as schools and medical families and businesses, we do not know the laws and barely speak our languages fluent or even can read. ( I understand creole and some reading but majority abroad do not understand)The government is hiding something from the people and the people think that destroying and killing on their land is going to make them listen when it’s just making things worse for Haitians. The help they need they are shutting out as well and if they know your from over broad they kidnap for money.
    Haitian people we have to do better!

      People keep referring to the "Haitian government." The first thing we need to understand is there hasn't been any type of "government" in Haiti for years. I lived in Santiago, DR, for six years while studying at PUCMM. While there is undoubtedly an element of racism over there (documented by countless incidents of abuse towards Haitians), there are thousands of Dominicans in need, and the Dominican government CANNOT provide for their people AND the vast numbers of Haitians that cross their border. It's a lose-lose situation for everyone.

      @@ketsiadorce8445 There has been a government in Haiti since 1986 they are currently a transitional government in Haiti for 2024, I think what your referring to is that the Haitian people do not see the current leaders as there preferred or considered to be the government leadership cause they see nothing being done by the government for Haiti when international funds are sent for aide when crisis occur and are in need for social services . Old generations of Haitians wants Haiti Guy Philip currently as their president then the government will be considered the Haitian government active for the Haitian people. I do understand both sides but Haitian government has done nothing for the people who is asking for help.

      @@lindamorgan7715 I would prefer to stand as a middle man in communication. The whole Haitian community would have to work together to make a difference but the truth is that we don’t. I care about the social services for the people cause I always think if I were in their shoes. They are saying that the US is involved and wants to overthrow the current government in Haiti and is the master mind behind this but we all know that ONE World government leadership is in the making, so DR government can face the same opposition if that actually happens if the same patterns continue. I would prefer to help with social services and stay out of the way cause it is risky and dangerous when you just want to do the right thing for your own people in Haiti .
      I am going to list the drawbacks that Haitian Americans face abroad and unfortunately the new generation do not know where to start cause there is so many already against us coming in to even help or develop or make a difference.

    • @anicialabennett7258
      @anicialabennett7258 Месяц назад +2

      @@lindamorgan7715 Hatian Americans or those living abroad are the ones who can help Haiti have been shut out and the very ones who are living on the island do not want to take care of the island we are also always informed to stay out of Haiti due to safety reasons unfortunately the problem is rooted to the core. Read Below
      The few drawbacks Haitians abroad are faced with;
      1. Those who practice voodoo to harm others they are practicing their craft on their own people so that’s why so many people run out the country. (A lot of Haitians are secretive and jealous and would like to bring others down no matter how kind,nice,successful they are they do not understand if one wins and succeed others can as well put in the work.)
      2. A lot of those in powers positions government,police force,Haitian Supreme Court is involved in occult/voodoo members and uses there practices to have there way regardless if they are right or wrong. They will murder you spiritually and with this new generation of Haitians a lot of them do not know about voodoo so they run in fear and also they are not believers in Christianity it does not matter if they are church in Haiti or abroad a lot of them do not have a belief in Christianity and they do not understand the powers of voodoo.
      3. Haitians Abroad majority do not speak French Creole fluently so understanding how to speak/read and understand the laws/government will take more than 2-3 years.
      4. There are no laws to protect Haitians those who were living or born abroad and come to Haiti to stay long term they kidnap them for money and expect money from them or family members and you will be surprise that their own family members are involved.
      5. Business owners/Medical Staff or facilities are constantly fearing for their lives because of the constant kidnapping and violent protesting against those who corrupting the government. Private Practices in the Medical field are there in Haiti which can be costly for health, so if you get shot,rapped you are on your own. The gangs attack the Medical Facilities which bring the economy down.
      6. The government in Haiti have some people who are cruel,corrupted and greedy and have fraudulently stolen funds provided international to aide the citizens in need of social services. They do not want no one to know who what and when they will murder you and your family for knowing the truth that they betrayed their own people for money to move themselves,family and businesses abroad or to the upscale parts of Haiti to live how they please. Invested in illegal activities and the list can go on.
      7. Development of the country to possibly make it a tourist attraction is slim chance cause everytime someone goes there to open business whether they were born there or not the Haitian people steal,destroy the persons business out of greed and jealousy they do not understand what economic growth is. Stable Businesses = Stable Economy
      8. The older generation in Haiti or those born in Haiti do not want to hear what the new generation living abroad have to say when it comes to the country developing or growing. They do not consider us Haitians, they do not think we went through anything worse then them since we are considered to have access to food,electricity,water they do not want to hear the stories of those who have to work paycheck to paycheck to make a living and stay afloat, discrimination,racism and drawbracks we face on constant basis they think we are rich and wealthy when that’s not the truth it’s just we have access to resources.
      9. Living with your family in Haiti is not advisable for long term due to cultural differences you will be surprised of the stories of secrets,incest, betrayal,abuse,emotional abuse, power and dominance,your own family looks down on you and talk bad about you cause your not considered a real Haitian which can lead to depression/stress/mental health issues and those living abroad are not the same as those who was born and raised in Haiti. Those living abroad should have their own place to stay and of course electricity and plumbing is what they would prefer but the price of staying in a place like America in Haiti is in USD up to $1000-2000.00 USD for rent per month and they do not let you pay month to month you have to pay in full for the whole year and a lot of those living abroad can not afford that, Haitians in Haiti do not think Haitians abroad face uncertainty at all until they move abroad themselves.
      Schedules those abroad are majority in school full time and /or working they are providing for themselves and family for their location abroad with no interest to go back to Haiti Economy . Some Work full time paycheck to paycheck/debt on their own unless they live with their family. If they are wealthy some do not have problems in Haiti but very little interest in staying and developing.
      Busy schedules abroad and financial issues is something they face too.
      10. You can not trust no family members,government,police force anybody with any plans/money/land/business cause they are either uneducated,greedy corrupted in some way so your life is constantly living in fear of what might happen to you.
      11. Regardless who is in leadership in the government all Haitians want out and do not want to take care of the country there is garbage everywhere on the island because the people are telling the government they will not take care of the island for them any longer,they do not understand economically there still needs to be growth and opportunities for others who do want to help in Haiti a difference is not overnight business owners help with developing the country but they don’t see that.
      12. Funding, Security is not there and so Haitians abroad just grows accustom to their lives abroad, some do want to give back, build,help,some do not want to go back and turn their backs and never return.
      13. Mental Illnesses some Haitians abroad faces mental breakdowns,schezeprnia,mental disorders and do not know the signs earlier on and it stems from generational heritage and can come from abuse or the lack of no one taking them to therapy when emotional issues or stress occurs.
      No body wants to stay cause again there is something rooted in Haitians that are evil who do practices to kill each other for things that don’t matter and won’t last forever,there is no accountability, so they all want out and move abroad hoping for better lives.
      There is no stable jobs,businesses,healthcare,sex education/family planning, no social services ,no development,education,housing,schooling,enforcement of laws, ect and no signs showing progress.
      The list can go on and on but it’s not as easy as you think you also have to know the land cause you never know what can happen.

It shouldn’t fall on the few border nations of nations in crises! I feel very bad for these people, who don’t ask for this. It only takes 1% of a population to destroy a nation. As Haitian, it's sad to see what the people are going through, I've lived in both side of the Island, and I can assure you that things aren't easy for Dominicans either, my family went to DR back in 2010 after the earthquake in Haiti, when they show the DR, they always highlight the tourist side, the beautiful part of it, which would make you think that the country is doing good, unfortunately it's not, they have their own share of problems, insecurity and rise of gang violence, the city where I was raised in the DR now have been constantly under violence of those tigeres and mafiosos. The DR should not be the gateway place, Haiti need a Bukele, we need a crackdown on the violence, people are calling out the Dominicans to not accept Haitians and deport them, however on the south of Haiti where my family is from and the north, they are not accepting people from the west side (port au prince). They fear that the people that are coming from the west are gang related people. Those areas on the south and north are small, everyone know everyone, if you are a stranger, they drag you out. I feel that this documentary was bashing the DR, the DR has always been of help to Haiti, the country is small and in financial problems, they cannot be taking care of their people and the other side of the island. It's not the Dominicans government job, it's the Haitian government job to take care of this issue. If Bukele was able to crackdown on 50+ years gang violence in Salvador, Haiti can do it too.

    No matter what part of the world your in why are you having unprotected sex when you can't even take care of yourself? Seems as though contraceptives' and education would help improve the situation in DR and Haiti.

    I can not see why the focus is on the DR and what they are not doing for Haiti nationals. They already have their own problems to deal with and should rightfully focus their limited resources on their people. The Haiti government needs to do better. And the UN can do more instead of talking about human rights violations. We in the developing countries understand what our limited health care systems provide. There is no luxury that can be shared. The UN and its agencies can do more and should. It is well within their capacity to do so.

      They're not being treated no type of way,and they forgot to mention that all women at that one hospital get turn away irregardless of race due to the fact that there's not more beds so,they usually have to go to another hospital from there .this is what its like to be a regular dominican on minimum wage.this is what you're seeing in this misleading video,is it usually called a crisis and D.R is tired,stressed out ,with no money ,health care or school system for themselves. Think !.

      DR does already a lot for Haitians, their solution will never be in DR. If you care a lot about them, then take them all in your country. Good to mention the US and other Caribbean islands are deporting Haitians as well, which this report didn't mention.

      It costs a lot of money, Dr is not a rich country. To help Haiti is to fix their government. And have their government build the hospitals. To be able to support their citizens.

    • @ericgonzalez3641
      @ericgonzalez3641 Месяц назад +16

      The DR is not a rich country, we cannot afford all Haitians coming to our hospitals (for which they don't pay anything), and almost 40% of births are from Haitian women. We do what we can to help them, but their solution will never be in DR and won't allow it.

    • @Delrosi
      @Delrosi Месяц назад +11
