boney m es uno de los grupos mejores de la historia
They had a lot of hits in the seventies (and early 80s). Apart from Rivers of Babylon: Daddy Cool, Ma Baker, Rasputin, Sunny, Brown girl in the ring, etc. etc.... Great reaction 😊
@@Eva_la_Diva At the moment my favorite one is Ma Baker, but they are all great in their own way 😊
@@Eva_la_DivaThank God I made it to the next round 😝🙏
@@Eva_la_Diva 😂
All of those are great. Fun that Swedish racist party Sverigedemokraterna adopted “Brown Girl in the Ring” as their anthem.
Great music!! 🥰🥰☺️😇😇🇨🇦
Thank you so much
Boney M. is amazing!
Don't miss there other hits:
Rasputin
Ma Baker
Sunny
Daddy Cool
Gotta Go Home
Brown Girl in the Ring
Hi. This awesome song was a moderate hit in the U.S. in 1978. It was a huge hit in the UK and Australia. Check out their Christmas hit, "MARY'S BOY CHILD/OH MY LORD" which came out in December of 1978.
A classic record.
Brown girl in the ring , sunny , daddy cool. So many great songs. I think I learned more history from their songs than in school 🤣
‘When the wicked carried us away in captivity and required from us a song.’
This was a cover the original was by a reggae group called The Melodians recorded in 1970
Did not know that
I've known this song my whole life but only found out not long ago that it was a cover. They did an amazing job covering it and making it their own. The original is also super beautiful and worth reacting to¸.
@@Lifewithstan2020 not really a cover but based on it too much. The Melodiens had the first rework of the psalms so it wasn't a tradditional song anymore.
I have the vinyl sleeve of this record signed by original vocalist Liz Mitchell!
I love this song. I was 25 or 26 when it came out. It's based on Psalm 137, a lament Psalm written during the Babylonian exile.
Verses 1 - 4
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?
This last verse is pretty creepy. The whole Psalm is only 9 verses in length.
Verse 9
Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
Yikes
I read that the male singer is only lip syncing.
Wow didn’t know that thanks
Oh Happy Day by the Edwin Hawkins Singers and Operator (Get me Jesus on the Line) by Manhattan Transfer are two more songs from that era that have religious themes. The latter is a cover. Carry on, Young Skywalker. You do good work.
yes, didn't sing on recordings but was still called The Boney M. singer. He sang on stage a little and better said spoked the male words so he was in fact singer.
@@Lifewithstan2020 but keeped the Boney M. singer as reputation. Nowadays he is more and more called the dancer. He sang somewhat on stage and later during his own Boney M. shows a little bit profi.
the presenter says: Today in 5 weeks we may have you again as our guests (the viewers), for today we say goodbye with a group that you have requested, with a new title of Boney M.
You either love them, or not. I do! ❤🕺🏼

Boney M. is definitely a cult music favorite! Boney M. was produced by the same guy as Milli Vanilli. Look for Brown Girl In The Ring.
