I have absolutely no idea why only the Europeans got 'Tombi!' instead of 'Tomba!'. All I know is that it sounds cooler. And the European box art is the same as the Japanese box art, which is cooler. So. Yeah. Eh.
The leading theory has always been that it was changed since European releases have to take several regions, cultures and languages into account. In this case it was changed from the original "Ore! Tomba!" probably because Tomba is Italian for the word grave or tomb and that would have given people a completely different idea of what the game was at a glance.
Thanks for covering Tomba! As this is my all time favorite childhood game, I feel the need to defend it. First off, one of your biggest negatives about the game is the difficulty of the platforming. This is easily overcome through equipping 1 item, the Funky Parasol. This item is essential for making it through the Lava Caves and 100 Flower Forest, where the platforming is at it's toughest. Using the parasol slows you down and gives you great control which is of vital importance in both those locations. In my opinion, both of the Tomba games are meant to be played as 1 whole story. There are quests in the second game which are dependent upon having a 100% completion slot on the same memory card. It adds about 5 quests to the second game. I do understand the complaint about lack of reward for completion. It doesn't do anything for you in the first game. Fully completing the second game gives you a red tuxedo, that's it. The experience is what is most important to these games, not full completion. This doesn't exactly make it a great game for your format of review. If you didn't play this game as a child, it's pretty difficult to get into it as an adult. The stories are ludicrous, the boss fights are far too easy and some of the quests require outside knowledge to know they even exist. (i.e. Where the Barrel Rolls...) Also, as some mentioned before, the 2nd game is currently only in Japanese on the Playstation store. I suggest giving it a second try if you have free time. This time, play the second right after the first and use the Funky Parasol. I can't stress enough how important that singular item is to negating the platforming difficulty. Once again, thanks for covering Tomba! Keep up the good work!
When I was a little boy I sometimes went a few towns away to where my nephews lived. They owned a copy of a demo of this game. I remember beating this demo repeatedly just to see if I had missed anything so I'd get the full experience of that game. Years went by and I tried to find the game without any luck since I had forgotten its name. Sadly I never got to finish it so here is a big like to your video bro! Thanks for finishing it for me and making a completionist vid! Finally I get the closure I need.

It’s hard to articulate the words for this game, back then this game held a very special place in my heart. I was 8 years old, was lucky to have most big N64/ PS1 games since I had a big family and a rental store nearby. With that said, aside from the N64, this along w/ tobal no. 2, tails concerto, jersey devil, medieval, crash bandicoot, Gex enter the gecko, silent hill, resident evil 2, bloody roar 2, marvel vs capcom, and many others, made the ps1 very special. But tomba is a game that I’ll always remember for its fluidity and gameplay.
My father gave me tombi(EU) as a birthday gift when it came out. I still has it, orginal with book. Some scratches on the disc and I will never sell it. Best memory and such good game. Really good music!
I highly recommend the second tomba game. By having a 100% completed save of Tomba, you unlock 4 extra events in Tomba! 2 where something actually DOES happen if you get 100% completion. I won't spoil what that is, you'll have to find that out for yourself. The controls are a little clunky at times, but once you get the hang of them it's smooth sailing from there, there aren't really any sharp difficulty curves from what I remember of it, although the final area does have a lot that can damage you.
@@tohaneploho9009 He probably deleted his Tomba 1 save and isn't going to finish it again to complete the Tomba 2 events that only unlock when a Tomba 1 save file is present.
Completely agree. Half an hour ago, I gave up on Tomba because of the stupidly annoying Lava Caves. Don't get me wrong: I LOVE difficult games and I have a relatively high tolerance for annoyance; I finished games like Demon's Souls and Super Meat Boy, and I really liked them. Tomba's difficulty scale is just ALL over the place with some areas on the edge of being unplayable. Such a pity, since I love the style and wonder of this game.
I first played Tomba! at a friend's party. Then, I got Tomba! 2, but in Japanese. Man, that was what made me want to learn Japanese at all costs (I already had another game in Japanese, Digimon World 2, but that wasn't as fun as this). I completed like 90% of the game without knowing any words, just by matching similar characters in them. Some years ago, I've completed both Tomba games in Japanese, but now understanding everything. That's the kind of game that shows us how smart kids are! Kids need no explanations XD
trilogy? sure for Jak and Dexter there is only 3 games that expend on the story whit any others like Jak X having their own story but preaty much evry single Rachet and Clank game that i know at least expends on the same story and also i do agree whit you they are awsome and Jerad plesse listen to the duck :)
I cant even think about tomba/i without that fucking video. Anyone ever seen that vid where this dude is trying to speedrun Tomba and starts getting rude with that other guy? In the end he says "I would really prefer it if you stopped talking."
Marcus Blanco I have both! Tombi 2 was my third PS1 game, but I just recently got my hands on the original one too. Gotta complete those extra events in Tombi 2 too ^^
It saddens me that so many people in these comments only played the demo. I first played the demo but my dad later bought us the full game. One of the fav games from my childhood, such an underrated gem
I've never watched this channel before, but man do I love me some Tomba. I grew up playing Tomba 2 and recently played the first one as well. Nostalgia goggles aside, I definitely recommend them for anyone who enjoys platformers
I love the Tomba series although the sequel is my favorite of the two. I hope someday some company gets the rights for some remasters and continuation of the series.
This review is irritatingly manipulative. In a lot of the clips where you complain about the difficulty you show clips of you playing the game laughably badly. Most of this footage is in the fire caves, and you're supposed to use the funky parasol in that section of the game. That's why when you first enter the caves, an NPC gives you an item that you need in order to get the funky parasol, which makes traversing the fire caves WAY easier. Hell, in one of the fire cave clips you literally just walked off a ledge to your death. How is that a representation of difficulty? Seems to me like you committed suicide on purpose to make Tomba look bad. Another part where you said the game is suddenly really hard shows footage of the jungle area, which is the last zone of the game. Of course the last zone would be harder than the rest. When you argue that the game is repetitive, you show footage of Tomba throwing crabs at a wall over and over again. I assume you do that to rack up green EXP, but that's totally unnecessary. If you just play the game normally, by killing enemies along the way you'll inevitably rack up most of the EXP you need to get the jewels. Moments like this make me feel like you were paid to shit on this game or something. All the nitpicks about Tomba's motivation and complaining about his face made me feel this way as well. It seemed like you were looking way too hard for a reason to give this game a lower score. The only legitimate criticism I see in this review is the lack of a completion bonus, but even with that, you have a 'finish it' rating specifically for good games with no completion bonus, and I feel like Tomba more than earns that rating. I mean at the end of the day opinions are opinions and you're entitled to have your own about this game, but the way the game footage was lined to misrepresent the game really bothers me.
berserkchip Shit this is so true, I remember this game vividly, haven't played it for almost 20 years but I think he is absolutely shitting on it for the wrong reasons. It's super fun and I think everyone who played it as a kid liked it at least a bit.
One thing that stood out to me was throughout the video, you see clips of him fighting bosses and missing when trying to throw them into the bags. That happens all the time because the bags are always moving around to make it hard to get the pig into the bag. And then near the end he says the boss fights are too easy, you just throw the pig in the bag and that's it? If the fights are so easy then what's with all those clips of failing at them? Also what does "Plook at it" even mean? How do you play it but also not play it and just look at it? I suddenly realize that the lower end of this rating scale makes no sense to me. But anyway, I would agree that this should be around Finish It, at worst between Finish it and Play it.
I actually hate to admit it but I started to notice similar things in a lot of his reviews. Usually when he decides to harp on a game he shows a lot of footage of him either playing suuuuuper bad or in the ONE area of a game that EVERYONE agrees is bad. :/ The worst part is once you realize how well he tailors the footage to match his opinion on the matter you have a hard time NOT seeing it in every review....
This is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE GAME (Tombi and Tombi 2) I'm literally so happy I just discovered I can purchase this on PSN I am currently saving up for this!
I sincerely doubt that Jirard was paid to trash the game, nor did he have any sort of negative intentions when jumping into this. He just doesn't strike me as that kind of person. However I do agree with you that the criticisms in this video comes off as questionable to say the least. The whole thing feels like a fluke and I hope that Jirard realizes this when replaying the game in the future.
Pleeeease play Starfy! I've never completed it but I did finish it. I played it when I was 10 but at that age it was an emotional journey. getting to know other characters and watching the game progress was amazing, it's incredibly underlooked but it's amazing!
Tomba is one of the funniest games I have played, both as a kid and replaying as an adult. I would say "play it", finish it isn't nececary, but everyone should play it. I never finished it, so when I got the digital version I planned to finish it. However, this game really can be confusing at times, even for a fan. >_
Imo if you don't still enjoy the show all because Greg left then you aren't really a supporter of this channel. Instead of constantly complaining how " it's bland, and boring" just stop watching.
Thank you so much for making a video over this! Once I saw it, I thought the game looked like something I played way back when but I forgot name and the gameplay was different. I then looked up a sequel and lo & behold, there was the game XD thanks for nostalgia!
Ah, the memories. Friend of mine had this on a demo disc, and it was a lengthy demo too. The play and music stuck in my head to this day, nice to see this. :D
This episode really has no character. Jirard's jokes fall flat compared to other episodes. I really do see the difference without Greg and it's kind of sad.
And yet the viewership has remained the same for the past two months. While Greg wasn't a bit part, the core idea of the show remains the same and Jirad has shown he is worth listening to, since people want to know his opinion. I don't expect instant results but I say, let it go. Complaining is pretty much a waste of energy and just creates a toxic environment.
Nathan Cassidy It was less than a month ago that Greg left and this is only the 3rd completionist episode since then. You talk about not expecting instant results, but then claim over twice as much time has passed as what actually has to try and make your point look better. No. Just, no.
I feel like it's just Jirard trying to get into doing the show solo. It seems like he's trying to simply fill in what Greg would have done himself and it feels off because of it. Hopefully he works out his own style soon.
Unpopular opinion: Greg didn't really add anything but a voice and the occasional beardman and bears. Jirard, or whoever his writer is obviously wrote all of greg's jokes, because the only thing missing is a second voice. The jokes are still there.
My bad, I didn't see that you included the bear jokes into your original comment. Yea, they didn't need to joke to become as popular as they are, but it is one of the most memorable jokes out of the series for me.
My god yes! I remember having that game as a kid. Nearly completed it and then my little brother snapped the disc. I would like to see a review so i can see how it all ends. From what I remember it was legendary
DeepFryedSlurm I loved the game as a kid, but when I played it again probably 6 years ago or so it hadn't aged well at all. I can't imagine what it would be like to play now... still want a review though! Has the potential to be funny considering all the cheesy dialogue lol
I would love to see Persona 4. Actually, it'd be a bit neat if he covered the entire Persona Saga. A month of persona maybe? Or at the very least a Persona game every couple of weeks. Those games are time consuming.
AcidOnAKnob86 Until I read the end of your comment I was about to accuse you of trying to kill Jirard with that request, He'd be putting in twice to three times the average (full time) work week on some of those games weekly. I can't see him doing it even every couple of weeks but I would love to see some megaten coverage, possibly put sparsely between a good few shorter games to clear his mind in between them.
Ah, back when demos were a normal thing. I think everyone played at least the first level from the demo. I don't remember anything about it except it was bright and vibrant and the music was cheerful so as a small child I liked it for those reasons. I always wondered what came after that first level.
There were some quests you couldn't complete, too... I spent ages trying to break the demo as a kid because I was CERTAIN you could access Charity Square.
Tomba!! I love this game and I love his laugh after eating the laughing mushroom! I want that sound clip as my phone ringer so bad, but I don't know how!
Yeah... We all miss Greg. Now shut up about it and get over it. While I was worried about the lack of Greg at first, each episode has gotten better since. The sooner people shut up about it, the sooner everyone involved can move on.
more likely he probably get new person co host with him, this be his solo act experience, so far enjoy show much more, early episodes i didn't mind, later episodes i just wanted kill Greg especially they started stupid music number DEAR LORD those were BAD.
How to remake this game -Keep the 3D backgrounds, but hand-draw the character models. Similar to WayForward's Ducktales Remastered -Optimize the quest system by differentiating the main quests and side quests, kinda like the Bomber's Notebook in Majora's Mask. -Optimize the item system so you don't have to constantly pause to switch items around -Include an optional hint system in case players get lost (Which tends to occur a LOT) -Rework the boss battles so they're more challenging -Remove the lives system. Seriously, This isn't an arcade game. There's literally no need for a lives system
Neverending Story and The Labyrinth are two of my favorite movies from childhood. Thanks for reminding me of these. My oldest is now old enough to enjoy them with me.
I never played Tomba 1, But I played Tomba 2 Revenge of the evil swine, Because I grew up in the 2000 Tomba 2 is one of my favorite games of all time!! This game was my childhood, we couldn't afford very many games, But I do still to this day have Tomba 2. Made sure it out lived my PS3 XD. Also I might add that my dad has watched this show and he really likes it.I told him you guys were talking and supporting veterans, He was In the United States Air Force for 22 years, I'm sure he would love play Tomba 1 again.
Can’t wait for the gritty tomba remake. Tomba is older and graying with a pink /gray beard. His son is his last bit of family after his wife dies. They hunt with boomerangs and fight off the swine oppressors.
Wow.... Another PSX game that it's all around AWESOME, but Jirard gave it a poor score because he can't handle some plataforms.... I'm sorry, I've been following you for almost two years, man, and not only you review VERY FEW PSX games, but there are MUCH FEWER games of that plataform with high scores. Meanwhile, Nintendo (And specially the WiiU) get reviews and high scores and all. I'm not saying that those games don't deserve them, but dude, from Ep. 100 on, you reviewed a total of 13 Nintendo games, and the rest are PC or multi-plataform games. I know you have nostalgia goggles for the big N, but try to have some variation. I love Nintendo, I enjoyed almost all their games... But I also love Sony, and PSX, PS2 and PS3 gave me SO much joy... Tomba 1 & 2 are among my favourites of all times. I never had any problems with the game, and yeah, I died, but only because I was getting cocky about it. The only thing that I can agree with you in terms of difficulty is the Kart thing... THAT is ridiculous. This is the second game I love that you gave it a low Score (The other was Earthworm Jim), and I don't know if it's because you hate Sony (Which I don't think so, because God Of War and inFAMOUS were high rated), or that Nintendo gave you so much Amiibos and free stuffs, that you think anything Non-Nintendo is bad. Don't take this the wrong way, Jirard. I don't hate you. I just think that you should review more games on other plataforms... After all, you review games for your fans, and your fans played with different consoles. And don't give the game a low score JUST because the difficulty is kind of high sometimes... Castlevania is hard, but you gave it a High score (And it also has 0 completionist bonus), so why this game gets the axe?
tomba and his story seems like it's based off goku from dbz food obsession dear item from late grandfather not very smart very strong and athletic. tell me I'm not the only one who sees this
+cioda To be fair, the food obsessed strong and lovable but dumb main character is a standard trope in japanese media. Goku is just one of many who did it.
Thought this was a good review so far, the shitty humor was kept out relatively until 8:40. God damn it's not funny, yeah cool crossover woohoo, but it's just painfully unfunny. Not to mention it shows you can't really voice act, "come on man stop with the insults" sounded like your tone throughout the entire review. Then at 12:40. Way to assume no one has ever heard of a movie to make yourself sound like a hipster. Good job. It's like the review just took a nose dive at 8:40
a. I love this game b. I love you guys c. I literally LOVE you for completing this game cause as a kid I never finished it d. your other stuff is totally awesome you sir, are a man after my own heart
Dude, it's not even about Greg leaving - the show is just dry and uninteresting now. You need something, some change of the formula, if you wanna keep it up. It just doesn't work now - you were always the straight guy and Greg was the funny one, so either change it so it works better with one host or find someone else to fill Greg's shoes. Sorry.
Guys, I don't know how it was for you, but I watched this show for Jirard AND Greg - they were a duo, they never worked without another. Talking like that, like Greg was nothing or him going away isn't a huge deal, shows your lack of respect to the old show and how much work they BOTH put into it.
MagamisZon I'm just trying to give an honest opinion? Jirard always tells us to post negative or positive comments? I posted a lot of positive ones and I'm not trying to spam about Greg being gone - if Greg didn't add anything to the show, I'd still be happy, but since it does change a lot - I just want Jirard to know that he needs to find someone or change the formula.
Yeah, the weird thing is that once Game Grumps was without Jon, Danny took his place. While here, there is no replacement. It's like if Arin just did Game Grumps by himself. *commence beatboxing and air horns*. Seriously though, I still like Game Grumps and I still enjoy the Completionist.
Tenebris the fucking rng in that game is godawful as someone why has played that game for 400 hours there are still moves I haven't gotten just because of rng
What a surprise. A Nintendo fanboy has to do his best to shit all over a great Playstation game because... it does too much? It isn't a Mario game? His face looks weird because it isn't a blocky, disgusting N64 mess? Sounds like a great time to me.
SlowBurne yeah, I love the Mario games. They're greatly made and tons of fun but I get so annoyed when big Nintendo fans constantly compare everything to mario. Like yeah, not everything is going to be like mario. I never thought Nintendo was the superior system anyway. I think of Sony as the top dog in the industry but that's strictly just my opinion. I never understood the obsession with Nintendo though.
Ah, Tombi. My favourite PS1 game of all time. I actually have physical copies of both games, they're some of the crowning jewels in my collection. Great review!
I still have my copy of Tomba! 2. I played the heck out of that game. It's funny, out of all of my PlayStation games, Tomba! 2 and Breakout were the only ones that survived the time when I didn't take care of my games.
Oh my god.... I had this game! I got it from a neighbor's yard sale years ago, back when I had a PSOne. Never got too far in it, but I'm happy to see the game show up again.
Oh my goodness! This was a game I used to have when I was younger but then I lost it and ever since then I thought it was just a figment of my imagination. Every time I brought it up with someone no one knew what game I was talking about. So after a while I believed the game didn't even exist! That FMV was amazing when I was younger...
I remember that I found Tomba2 at a used music shop in my hometown. I loved the game and to this day still play it and recommend it. It took me 8 years to find a copy of the first game, and I bought it used for $75.00 because the guy wanted to cut me a deal. I don't like it as much as the second one, but it is pretty sad that Whoopee shut down before they could produce more titles...especially more Tomba.
Looking back on this again. It's funny how many people just hated this game, but like Caddicarus, I adore this game (even at 30 years old) I still play it today. XD
Jirard, I have to congratulate you sir. I always thought I watched your channel because I loved Greg. I thought the show would suffer without him. On the contrary though your fuckin still killin it without him, this is still my favorite youtube channel next to JonTron. Keep up the good work I look forward to these Thank you for all your hard work bro.

That's the kind of game that shows us how smart kids are! Kids need no explanations XD
I realize its a 2 years old post but I played Tombi with English dictionary on my knees. That's how I learned English :)
Seki09 that's amazing
Digimon world 2 was the weakest of those three digimon games imo.
Play a game from the ratchet and clank/jak and daxter trilogy please!
Yeah listen to the duck!
I agree the duck knows all
YUS
listen to the duck
trilogy? sure for Jak and Dexter there is only 3 games that expend on the story whit any others like Jak X having their own story but preaty much evry single Rachet and Clank game that i know at least expends on the same story and also i do agree whit you they are awsome and Jerad plesse listen to the duck :)
Never played this one but Tomba 2 was one of my favorites growing up. If a third installment somehow came out I'd be all over it.
I cant even think about tomba/i without that fucking video. Anyone ever seen that vid where this dude is trying to speedrun Tomba and starts getting rude with that other guy? In the end he says "I would really prefer it if you stopped talking."
Tomba is getting a remaster, time for a completionist tomba part 2 lol
"I'd Really Prefer that You just be quiet."
I have a Tomba 2 physical copy of this game for ps1 :)
Marcus Blanco
I have both! Tombi 2 was my third PS1 game, but I just recently got my hands on the original one too.
Gotta complete those extra events in Tombi 2 too ^^
I had both digital On my psp
It saddens me that so many people in these comments only played the demo. I first played the demo but my dad later bought us the full game. One of the fav games from my childhood, such an underrated gem
I've never watched this channel before, but man do I love me some Tomba. I grew up playing Tomba 2 and recently played the first one as well. Nostalgia goggles aside, I definitely recommend them for anyone who enjoys platformers
This why multiple reviews are nice as both you and caddicarus bring different viewpoints to the table. Also that was a funny cameo with caddicarus.
I love the Tomba series although the sequel is my favorite of the two. I hope someday some company gets the rights for some remasters and continuation of the series.
I'm still hoping to this day.
Don't worry I heard it's coming back
@@xXSerohcXxit's coming brother and I heard it's soom
I could never beat that final boss.
I could never beat the final boss either because you had to press "X" really fast
Spoink! I am good at quick button mashing, but that game took it to a whole 'nother level. That shit is near impossible.
Completely agree, way too easy but so much fun :) I adored that game, one of the few games I've actually completed fully :)
I LOVED that game
Tomba 2 is one of my favorite games. Replayed it recently and it holds up surprisingly well and it's completion reward is super gratifying
Tomba is one of the funniest games I have played, both as a kid and replaying as an adult.
I would say "play it", finish it isn't nececary, but everyone should play it. I never finished it, so when I got the digital version I planned to finish it.
However, this game really can be confusing at times, even for a fan. >_
Play and complete "Duck Dynasty: The Game"
Imo if you don't still enjoy the show all because Greg left then you aren't really a supporter of this channel. Instead of constantly complaining how " it's bland, and boring" just stop watching.
So basically, it's the plot of Dragon Ball only on crack.
No. Just, no.
Greg's gone, man. It's over. Might as well enjoy the show as it is now or just wait for Greg to make his own show, which I've heard he is.
I like it better without Greg. This a more mature format.
But the bear jokes will never be the same :.(
Michael McCallister They weren't needed to make the completionist good.
My bad, I didn't see that you included the bear jokes into your original comment. Yea, they didn't need to joke to become as popular as they are, but it is one of the most memorable jokes out of the series for me.
K
***** I can respect that.
You should play Ty the Tasmanian Tiger for PS2/Gamecube!
Yeah, going back and replaying it now, the camera is reeeeeally awkward, but it's still really fun!
I LOVED THAT GAME (also tak)
Loved this game back in the day and still own my copies of 1 & 2! Great episode! Also, when the horse dies in Neverending Story....tears, just tears.
Am I the only one who keeps rewinding the video just to see the intro? I love it so much! Of course, the video itself is awesome too. xD
How'sa bout Persona 3/4/DDS1&2/any SMT game?
Hell yeah!
Their goes another 100 hours of his life
I would love to see Persona 4. Actually, it'd be a bit neat if he covered the entire Persona Saga. A month of persona maybe? Or at the very least a Persona game every couple of weeks. Those games are time consuming.
AcidOnAKnob86
Until I read the end of your comment I was about to accuse you of trying to kill Jirard with that request, He'd be putting in twice to three times the average (full time) work week on some of those games weekly. I can't see him doing it even every couple of weeks but I would love to see some megaten coverage, possibly put sparsely between a good few shorter games to clear his mind in between them.
Had a really terrible week, thank god for this episode!
***** I don't know what's better, your picture, your name or your reply, thanks man! :)
nut one out it will help you relieve some stress
Never Pulling out hahaha!
Don't worry dude, now that you've had a bad week you're due for a great one! Things will look up soon starting with this episode!
John Benson Thanks dude, just focusing on getting into a better state of mind and adjusting to life.
Is it just me or does Tomba's FMV cutscenes look like they were drawn by Akira Toriyama?
I got a lot of DBZ vibes from this too
Ah, back when demos were a normal thing.
This. Everyone needs to read this.
Loki Belial agreed sure hope Jirad can spice it up in the future
Fernando Luna I think he will/ is, and with his added guests I think it's coming along just fine. Better than hoped for in fact.
Loki Belial Seems like it
more likely he probably get new person co host with him, this be his solo act experience, so far enjoy show much more, early episodes i didn't mind, later episodes i just wanted kill Greg especially they started stupid music number DEAR LORD those were BAD.
How to remake this game
-Keep the 3D backgrounds, but hand-draw the character models. Similar to WayForward's Ducktales Remastered
-Optimize the quest system by differentiating the main quests and side quests, kinda like the Bomber's Notebook in Majora's Mask.
-Optimize the item system so you don't have to constantly pause to switch items around
-Include an optional hint system in case players get lost (Which tends to occur a LOT)
-Rework the boss battles so they're more challenging
-Remove the lives system. Seriously, This isn't an arcade game. There's literally no need for a lives system
To be fair with the lives they removed it for the sequels.
MindstormXL THe one sequel
There should have been more D:
What do you mean by "lives system"? Do you mean the character's health?
No, lives. Like "extra life". Lives are the spawn from arcade games to limit your playtime.
BUT BEARDMAN!
why is his hair so pink?
is it made of cotton-candy?
I FOUND A SOLUTION TO WORLD HUNGER!
Neverending Story and The Labyrinth are two of my favorite movies from childhood. Thanks for reminding me of these. My oldest is now old enough to enjoy them with me.
A true classic going through rewatching your content wish we could get the vaulted stuff back but those memes are only left to our memories...
But beardman isn't the game also known as Tombi?! Why does he have pink hair?! WHAT THE HELL IS A TOMBA?! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PIGS?!
AND WHAT'S WITH THAT FLAIL ISN'T THIS SUPPOSED TO BE A KIDS GAME!!?
You really should review Superman 64. You already reviewed Sonic 06 and Imagine Wedding Designer. Why not this game?
I don't know if he can. ProtonJon tried to complete the game and ran into recording issues.
Oh yea I love those games. There my favorite.
Nathan Cassidy
Not to mention the game also killed somebody because of it.
TheLastCreeper That would be epic as fuck never seen what the fuck happens in that game XD
Can’t wait for the gritty tomba remake. Tomba is older and graying with a pink /gray beard. His son is his last bit of family after his wife dies. They hunt with boomerangs and fight off the swine oppressors.
Someone would have to teach him to say "BOY" though.
jirard do you plan to play tomba 2 for the channel?
Did you know... Flowey laugh from undertales laugh is reused from tomba. yeah fun fact
He's just another dime a dozen Nintendo fanboy who can't accept that his favorite company has been getting its ass kicked since 1996.
@@burnout713 ass kicked? Somebody obviously lives in their own self deluded ego bubble. Bro get over it and yourself, okay?
@@buddieadkins7808 Look at the numbers, then talk to me about delusion.
tomba and his story seems like it's based off goku from dbz
food obsession
dear item from late grandfather
not very smart
very strong and athletic.
tell me I'm not the only one who sees this
+cioda I'm thinking about it since I was 5.
+cioda To be fair, the food obsessed strong and lovable but dumb main character is a standard trope in japanese media. Goku is just one of many who did it.
That's what I thought as a kid.
Well fuck you

Love it. Found this 7 years after release, as im completing Tombi for the first time. So appropriate
Part 2 is really really good too
Tomba 2 is one of my favourite games. Wish Jirard could have completed that one too.
Glad you included Caddy in this video, as soon as I heard the music I was like..... I know where I've heard this before. Great review!
I would really prefer if you'd be quiet.
Good job. It's like the review just took a nose dive at 8:40
Do Ori and the Blind Forest please
a. I love this game
b. I love you guys
c. I literally LOVE you for completing this game cause as a kid I never finished it
d. your other stuff is totally awesome
you sir, are a man after my own heart
The intro to these videos makes me feel like I could ride dragons, complete multiple books (written by me) and climb a mountain.
Sorry.
MagamisZon
Unbreakable argument there.
Guys, I don't know how it was for you, but I watched this show for Jirard AND Greg - they were a duo, they never worked without another. Talking like that, like Greg was nothing or him going away isn't a huge deal, shows your lack of respect to the old show and how much work they BOTH put into it.
That's quite a leap. People preferring the show without Greg are being disrespectful? Nah.
Pan Rysownik Rysuje Neh u are kinda overreacting its been 2 episodes lol
Im here again asking for an episode on Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. Your input in such a difficult game should be pretty interesting.
I really hope the fan base doesn't split over Greg like they did when Jon left Game Grumps.
Hate to break it to you buuuut...
Though it's not as bad as Game Grumps, it's still there. *sigh* I was afraid of this.
Just review dk 2 so the compileshunist (sorry if I spelt it bad)
Game Grumps is so good and so much better... sky's been the limit
I really like the feel of the solo review with some guest appearances! Keep it up Gerard!
Mad man, I didn't think anyone really played this! Love this game!

There is a straight up rip off Magikoopa.
Wow developers, wow, he even teleports, is blue, has glasses and a wand.
Fucking wow, Discount Magikoopa.
This is the game we picked for my game clubs this month. It's outstanding
I can see it now: Completion Bonus Tomba. Just Jirard saying "THERE'S NOTHING THERE'S NOTHING THERE'S NOTHING THERE'S NOTHING" over and over again.
I want you to complete.
DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE.
I'm sorry Beardman.
Tenebris the fucking rng in that game is godawful as someone why has played that game for 400 hours there are still moves I haven't gotten just because of rng
2 is worse. More levels, more stuff to collect, more rng bullshit.
hu man what's rng and I love xenoverrse
I love how you played Crash Bandicoot 2 music when explaining how easy the bosses are. "Noooooo! You haven't seen the last of me, Crash Bandicoot!"
Dude the neverending story is like one of my all-time favorite movies!!!Loved that reference
Ah, Tombi. My favourite PS1 game of all time. I actually have physical copies of both games, they're some of the crowning jewels in my collection. Great review!
Thanks for finally doing Tomba now pt2 please and thank you That One Video Gamer
I still have my copy of Tomba! 2. I played the heck out of that game. It's funny, out of all of my PlayStation games, Tomba! 2 and Breakout were the only ones that survived the time when I didn't take care of my games.
As a kid, the haunted mansion was scary af, the combination of music, difficulty and hard to navigate made it scary for me when I was younger.
Masakari Jungle did it for me. Such a damn difficulty spike...
I still can’t go through the part with the crying and laughing flowers or the lava cave without wanting to hide 😂😂
Oh my god.... I had this game! I got it from a neighbor's yard sale years ago, back when I had a PSOne. Never got too far in it, but I'm happy to see the game show up again.
This Tomba and LEGEND OF THE MYSTICAL NINJA are among my most favorite games.
2:35 hmm... Sadly didn't age well, knowing the ps3 store is closing this year. Better buy it before it's too late
I absolutely loved this game as a kid. I would play this everyday after school. Such good memories... Almost cried when my game got scratched.
all i know about this game is a speedrunner told someone that theyd really appreciate it if theyd be quiet when playing tomba 2
FINALLY I was wondering what that music Caddicarus always uses was
Yeah good luck getting him to review it though :(
Oh my goodness!
Ha, when you were talking about the foreground and background shifts I was thinking of Caddy's '2.5D!!!'. And then there he is!
Looking back on this again. It's funny how many people just hated this game, but like Caddicarus, I adore this game (even at 30 years old) I still play it today. XD
Never-ending Story is my childhood, Atreyu and Falcor are amazing characters, and i cried when Artax was dies in the swamp. Beautiful movie
