Saving all the little sisters and getting the good ending was one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done in a game. It’s legitimately beautiful.
I couldn't help but harvest 😔
@@iamjustsimplysimplistic you will never know peace

What's weird is that I harvested the little sister that's right after the one that teaches us the mechanic of harvesting or saving them, just to know how it looked like, after that I saved every single one, and I got the good ending for some reason :P
"A character named Jack goes underwater to start his adventure". Did Titanic have an epilogue?
Yes, Jack is Badass killer all of a sudden.

"Would you kindly?" God that's scary.
"The pipe puzzles don't grow old or stale"
Right...
Aye, that was just pure bullshit. Especially when there are sometimes pipes puzzles that become literally impossible to complete at a certain difficulty level unless you have the right number and selection of plasmids.
@@JoshtheOverlander and once you got the right tonics it's literally a cakewalk. The stream flows so slowly that you could get a coffee, come back and still finish it.
@@daniel_361 I know, but what I'm saying is, if you chose to invest in other tonics, you'll be hit with literally impossible puzzles barring you from making a much needed hack for a vending machine when you're low on cash and need a first aid or perhaps more ammo
@@daniel_361 Oh, wait, you weren't arguing, you were just giving the exact opposite extreme to push further how stupid the hacking puzzles are
*cries in survivor no death run* THANK god for research camera with the auto hack on 3/5 machines since I think at Max level research on the security bots you get to auto hack them without doing anything
Isn't weird that in Bioshock you are starting on an airplane and you go into the ocean... But in Infinite you start on a boat in the ocean Then you go into the air??
Kinda the point they were making.
Well Colombia is supposed to be the complete oppisite of Rapture.
It's like poetry... It rhymes.
mind blown
that's the point =b there's many opposites in infinite and they are all on purpose
I'm gonna be totally honest, I loved the first three Pirates movies
Ticci Sean They're fun and entertaining. Plus everything is better with pirates!
Nytemare2all exactly
The third one was the only one that I would say you could skip safety but other than that I liked the series.
Gonna be honest, the good ending was a tearjerker for me.
Also, the Big Daddies are a cakewalk once you have the electric tripwire crossbow darts.
I kind of like how each of the Bioshock games has a specific theme.
Bioshock is Objectivism/Libertarianism without restraint.
Bioshock 2 is Socialism without restraint.
Bioshock Infinite is Nationalism without restraint.
MorbidMist infinite could also be seen as a critique of fundamentalist religion as well
I think it's beyond that. The people of Columbia don't think of their beliefs as 'a religion' they are full-on CONVINCED in the idea of a god, and America being the holy nation, fit to rule the world. Which, in a way, is ideology without restraint.
bioshocks theme was capitalism without restraint
And Bioshock 2 was Communism with out restraint. (Which is actually default communism.)
@@drewwar9344 No it wasn't it was Objectivisim without restraint. Because this game was influenced by Ayn Rand's two books "Atlas Shrugged" & "The Fountainhead" which pushed Objectivism. And that's what Andrew Ryan believes is Objectivism.
If you want more detail about it I'd recommend at YT Channel called "Games as Lit" he does about an hour review on BioShock, some of it is about Objectivism and Andrew Ryan.

Ultimate Completionist Challenge: beat every quest in MH4U and make every weapon and armor piece in the game. Including DLC.
Fluffy Heretic That is impossible, he will never do that
Fluffy Heretic I mean if you want a bit more fair version of that. Build a complete armor and weapon set from each of the elder dragons at their highest rank, complete all missions atleast once, unlock all caravan upgrades, and reach max HR (999 or 1000 I think). Still would take forever though and would require a group.
Il Magnux I mean; I 100% my game a while ago so impossible is not quite the word ._:
Fluffy Heretic I'm still waiting for the WoW episode

Yes, but you have to put your soul and your body to complete that game, and i don't think he has the time to do that
did he really just say the story for bioshock was generic? Oh helll noooo
Yeah, what does that even mean?
He probably didn't understand the story. I just replayed this game after years and years and was totally enamored by the story where as when I was young I just liked the game for the gameplay.
Eric Mills I still get goosebumps whenever that fantastic reveal happens. I think because he's a completionist he just goes through the game without paying attention and doesn't notice most things. Bioshock is one of the best stories in game and far from generic
I honestly have no idea. The script and points in this video aren't that great.
Alicia Kistner-King for real. It's one of the best "Oh Damn I really didn't see that coming" moments. Would you kindly re-upload this video and fix it gerard lol

At 10:38, for those who missed it.
Andrew Ryan was born in Russia, and his birth name is Alexander. He changed it to Andrew after he moved to America
i am wood how is it that he knows that but he very poorly explained the whole "you're Ryan's son" thing. It's quite a bit more complicated than that lol

Am I the only one who NEVER really used the research camera? I just went in guns blazing.
ScienceCraft I rarely used the camera. I generally used the guns, Telekinesis and Ignite!, with some exceptions like the occasional Electrobolt.
I used it quite a bit, even got the Research PHD achievement for getting everything fully done. Some of the upgrades you get are more convenience (insta-hack for turrets and bots), there's the obvious big boosts in damage dealt, there's the boosts you get in EVE and Health for every Sister level, and there's the wall of Tonics you get. Overall, I'd say it's worth it. The game isn't the hardest, and it only takes a few seconds to whip out the camera, snap a pic or two, then get back to fighting.
All guns, all guns blazing

Solid video! Kind feel like you glossed over how monumental the "Would You Kindly" thing was, but that could just be me lol.
Am i the only one who thinks Bioshock and Fallout (3, NV, and 4) have the same feel to them??? I really like the feel to them, that's why i like them.
kind of! i've loved all of these games but i've never drawn comparisons. i think fallout 3 and bioshock 1 had the most similarity's gameplay wise, as to how the felt. New vegas felt a bit different (maybe even like bioshock 2) as an evolution on the original. and then infinite and 4 were like complete reworkings of the game while keeping the core experience the same
yeah i can see the similarities! :3
There are a whole lot of similarities between the two franchises. The music, the post-apocalypse setting(bioshock on a lesser scale), the emphasis on looting and looking in boxes, crates. definitely similar.
***** I think another huge aspect is the 50's/60's eras setting too. Like Bioshock is in the 60s, and Fallout (prewar) was set in the future, but everything seemed like the great war was basically an alternate version of the cold war IF shit actually hit the fan with nuclear warfare. It's basically the cold war era with robots, futuristic weapons, etc. No way the prewar time setting would actually match our universes equivalent of that time period.
It's funny, I got into Fallout 3 because of how similar yet different it was to Bioshock.
Its really just the time period, but yes I agree

"Choosing to drain less of it means you're going to be less powerful in the long run."
You actually get more ADAM over the course of the game by sparing them because of the gift system. Harvest or Rescue is a ridiculous false choice because even from a gameplay perspective there is no reason to Harvest any of them.
Also, one huge problem with the game is that diversity is also a false choice. You can choose to play the game how you want, but the reality is that you're just making the game much harder on yourself if you do. The fact that there is one character setup which is so overpowered that it puts everything else in the game to shame means that not choosing it basically means voluntarily making the game incredibly difficult.
shunkwugga Pretty sure you still end up with less total if you rescue. The gifts aren't enough to completely compensate, though you do get some other unique plasmids.
shunkwugga About character setups: The player isn't supposed to know the meta of which setups are best overall, right? That means that the choice isn't really a difficulty pick; it's a preference of combat style. Sure, for speedruns and/or completioning, knowing the meta is better, but not from a a casual run's perspective.
What I mean is, the diversity is real, but you can choose to go meta.
***** From a casual run's perspective, experimenting with everything will still lead you to go to the one most effective method of dealing with enemies, which is "use electro shock, hit with wrench." In dealing with Big Daddies, it's "set up trap bolts, make them run through them."
Applemangh They actually do. The gifts give you a little more ADAM by the end of the game and it's not like you even need that much anyway.
shunkwugga
Are those the only effective methods, or are any other setups straight up ineffective?

Would you kindly complete Bioshock 2?
Hi, Jirard! I'd just like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing up to Indy PopCon. I was overjoyed to see you on the guest list, knowing you're from across the US. It meant the world to me that you signed my SNES and took a picture with me. Otherwise, great work on this episode as always. :)
I love the filthy animals reference. Nd I will never forget the terror of 11year old me when the first 30 minutes of the game started with only a wrench fighting things I have never seen before. I still get chills
A classic and piece of art in so many ways. 2 was a bit lacking in the Bioshock feel but Infinite came back even stronger perhaps. Still what a great series led by a great director in Ken Levine.
Hey Jirard, if you do Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite will you do the DLC episodes in separate videos? Also can't wait until you do the sequels. Personally I think Bioshock 2 gets a bad rap. Sure it sure as hell ain't the first game but it's still fun (though I still want a survivor mode).
Thank you! I personally still loved the second game. Maybe not quite as much as the first, but more than infinite (I just don't like the setting or the convoluted plot as much...)
+Gaming Templar yeah they really tried but it lacks fear and a interesting villain
I don't mean that sarcastically, they did improve things the sequel like hacking
Yeah Jirard, would you kindly do the sequels
I loved Bioshock 2 a bit more than the first one and it's a bit sad to see it barely get mentioned and outright hated
Wow, this is awesome timing, I just finished Bioshock today.
It’s weird how he knew that Big Daddies were people in this review, but forgot this in Bioshock 2.
I'll preface my remarks with: I am a huge fan of the channel. Nevertheless, in this episode (in addition to the subpar, and inaccurate "Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin" show) Jirard just makes factious claims. Maybe in these earlier episodes he did not have editors? Jirard is just flat out wrong from 16:38 to 16:50 when he erroneously claims that the game is: "A completionist nightmare." You do not have to finish the game multiple times to get all the achievements or trophies, as he incorrectly proclaims. If you save, rather than harvest all the little sisters, you get both "Dealt with Every Little Sister," and "Little Sister Savior" in one go. Being that his name sake is: "The Completionist," you would think he would get that bit right about a game. Further, did he really claim that the story was "generic?" Was he playing a different game?
Really confusing episode. He also mentioned feeling empty because there are no "finished the game" achievements but there are tons of those for every difficulty. Also the narrative is one of greatest stories ever told via video games calling it generic is retarded. I'm guessing he wasn't paying attention
Just got the Platinum on the PS4 in a couple of days, not a completionist nightmare.
Late reply, bit this super bugged me when he said you get less in the long run by saving the little sisters....like no mention of the gift packs full of adam along with unique plasmids that at the end of the game you have either the same or maybe 50 adams worth difference between pacifist vs genocide.....
I was drawing, and when you said when else have we had someone named Jack go underwater, I looked over and saw Pirates of the Caribbean, and I thought they meant Titanic.
High-five, hand-shake, doughnut, fistbump!! Thanks for covering one of my favorite games!! (Maybe you can do a Bioshock 2?)(Ps I, too, adore Pirates of the Caribbean!)
I really enjoyed Bioshock (even though I'm one of those people who actually found it scary). I liked the setting and narrative, and I really enjoyed the objectivism theme throughout it. And the way it all comes together at the end was interesting. I saw the Ryan/Jack connection coming, but the hypnosis was certainly a surprise. What I also really liked which you didn't really talk about was the set pieces. The splicers and their creepy narratives, the first intro to the Big Daddies, the sudden changes to the environment- that for me was really awesome and kept you on your toes.
