Finally a video of somebody actually showing how to tie a jig
Thank you sir!
I need to get some more jig tying videos up as that seems to be highly desired, thank you for watching!
@shoski check out Adam F at SDG custom lure Craft great learning channel too
Yep, totally agree! Well done!
What is the name of the tool holding the denier nylon cord down?
The hair clip is a great idea!!! Inexpensive, easy and quick.
Your cutting of the silicone and LR tabs sound ASMR sweet!
Good job explaining how to tie the jig it looks awesome and the colors you choose were just right thank you for showing us.
Thank you for this showcase. I found it incredibly helpful when constructing my first bass jig.
That’s really nice looking jig. I’ve watched a to n of videos and your the only one that does thread and wire. Definitely the best tie I’ve seen buddy. Thanks
Thank you sir, very much appreciated!
I haven't ran into anyone else myself that uses the thread + wire wrap or the living rubber + silicone skirt material I absolutely love the combo as it makes a good looking jig with a lot of action that is durable.
I love the short shank hook jigs!
Mighty fine Tutorial
You gained a new Sub this Glorious Saturday morning
I like the hair tie trick. I'm going to have to pick me up some. Thanks for sharing.
You bet, thanks Lee!
Such a sweet color! Nice job man!
Thank you John, it's definitely a good alternative to the classic black and blue jig!
Stretch and cut the living rubber really slowly, cutting off only about 1/8th inch or so, and it will separate without having to do each strand by hand.
You are missing out on the best part by not stretching the rubber and cutting with scissors to separate the strands lol.
Great looking jigs! Too bad people will only buy "wire tied", thread tied is more than strong enough.
What is a good thread to use? I am new at this and want a thread that is strong and available in a lot of bright colors. Thank You
I enjoyed the video , just learning to tie my own jigs, so this video is a big help . Where do you recommend buying living rubber and silicone skirts ?? Definitely subscribing to your channel .
Thanks Bobby, glad the video was of help!
For silicone skirts I don't have a good recommendation any longer, I use to get them from here though: www.fishingskirts.com/
Living Rubber (medium is what I use) from here:
www.livingrubber.com/
Thank you for replying and answering my questions . I got all the tools I need , now I can order material. Thanks again !!!
I see you snip off the weed guard to start and glue in a new one to finish. How do you clean out the initial stump off the original guard in order to get a good glue set?
I'm not sure I fully understand the question but before I pour my jig heads or paint them I use a Teflon insert.
Once the paint has been baked on fully I remove the insert so the hole stays clean and makes it easy to glue in the fiber weedguard.

Gorgeous jig! Where did you find the blk/gold silicone ?
Thank you!
I believe I got this skirt material from here:
www.fishingskirts.com/product-category/skirts-unlimited/skirt-making-material/chrome-series/
Where do you get live
Rubber
I use scissors to cut the living rubber when stretched. Far faster.
great video except im confused on some things. Why the wire and what's the "living rubber" for? why not just use 2 more black n gold tabs?
Thanks Bobby!
The wire is just an extra barrier to keep the skirt in place. It is not a requirement, I prefer having the wire there versus not.
Living rubber actually provides the skirt with more action / pulsating action when on the bottom, jigging or swimming the jig. There is a big enough difference in how silicone skirt material performs vs. living rubber that I put some living rubber in all of my jigs.
The living rubber typically cost more than the silicone skirts. I prefer the aesthetic of the silicone skirt material along with the cost but I prefer the action of the living rubber. Hence the hybrid jig.
Really just comes down to personal preference more than anything.
@@applegatefishing gotcha!!! Thanks! I'm debating on getting into bass jigs, i tie a lot of crappie but haven't done any bass
What mold did you use for your jig?
Do-It Weedless Brush Jig Mold
store.do-itmolds.com/Weedless-Brush-Jig-Molds_c_51.html
Why do you use thread and wire. I’ve never seen anyone do that. I just use thread and that’s enough but I’d like to know your reasoning. Btw that’s a gorgeous jig. Thank you for putting this up.
Hey Darkman, the main reason for the thread is so I can more easily layer / adjust the material. The thread is plenty to hold the material on, you're right, however when I started selling my jigs I came across reluctance to buy them simply because they were not 'wire tied'. So now the jigs I make / sell have probably the most secure skirt on the market with thread + wire securing it.
what type or brand vise are you using?
Hey Chris, this is a Peak Rotary Vise.
www.basspro.com/shop/en/peak-rotary-vise-with-pedestal-base?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Shop%7CBPS%7CLowPerformers%7CFishing&gclid=Cj0KCQiAu62QBhC7ARIsALXijXSaUI1RKMKBQ_iSagTbdYFfaAEdvAgf9FLs6voCH7hrGO5BWdvW2DMaAs_iEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Why do you use color floss if you then cover it with the wire?? You don't use any glue or anything to coat the wire and thread??
what brand of vice is that
This is the Peak rotary vise with pedestal, PRV-G2.

Can you leave some links to the materials used in the video ? I would like to make my own rigs but I’m not sure where to get everything or the names of everything.
Lurepartsonline, barlows, do it molds websites all have them. You can get pre-made jigs. Just make sure you get skirts, bands and weed guards. If they are unpainted, you will need powder paint as well and a heat gun. Easy once you get started.
@@wickedbassn awesome thank you so much man much appreciated 👌
Sorry for the delay, I'll add some links below that'll hopefully help you out. I do pour and paint all of my own jig heads but you can buy those premade from some sites.
