Thanks a lot! I get all my stuff from Barlow’s tackle except the lead!
Great video! Wondered how involved it would be and not too bad! What would be the initial investment for the pour pot and mould?
I think for the pot mold and components for my first batch was between 150-200 dollars!
IM FROM WITBANK in S.A whered you get jig hook mold from
I bought mine from Barlow’s tackle
@@nathanquincefishing7122 wat is the price on the hook mold
Around 40 bucks
Awesome vide thank you so much, do you know of any businesses that ship jigheads moulds worldwide i cant seem to find any in south africa .
I unfortunately do not. I would try do it molds or Barlow’s tackle that’s where I buy mine
Nathan Great video, which mold do you use in particular?? Thanks
The Gamakatsu 604 ball head mold from do it
Where did you buy the mold?
I’m making crappie jigs. Where can I get the die and heat pot from. And I have a bunch of aluminum. Can I use that to make jig heads
I don’t think you can use aluminum but I bought all my materials from Barlow’s tackle!
Nathan the lead you get have you poured any Midwest Finesse heads with it ? The lead I tried using when the jigs done the hook is loose in the head. Someone said it was to hard of lead ?
I have! Sometimes you get a few loose ones it happens on the smaller sizes
Have a question on the lead ingots: What size to you order 1# or 5# and is it the 99.9% lead. Thanks for the help.
Yes it is I order the 1 pound ones!
@@nathanquincefishing7122 Thank you!!!! Appreciate it
I've tried doing this with round head 1/8th jig heads and the hook moves after I take them out of the mold. Do you know why this is happening?
I’m not sure I haven’t had that problem with mine?
What exact lead do u get from roto metals
99 percent pure lead ingots they’re 1 pound ingots
What's the metal company name for the lead you buy?
Rotometals!
Where did you get your mold at.
Barlow’s tackle
You can flux the lead with saw dust. Just ask Lowe’s and you can get a bucket full for free.
What does tht do
Whats the brand n model of your melting rig
Lee production pot!
Sir This Item Purchase Link Plz Send Sir
Where do you get your lead from?
Roto metals!
Where can i get jig head mold?
Barlows tackle
Is painting of jig important ? I mean is it make any difference
Depends on the situation I don’t for swimbaits or stuff I want to stay shiny but for ned rigs and flipping jigs I paint them to make it more natural and match the color of the bait
where can i buy those tools?
I got mine from Barlow’s tackle!
damn I lost all my eyes for these, guess ill have to paint them.
Where to buy all jig head making setup .
Barlow’s tackle will have it all!
@@nathanquincefishing7122 thanks you bro
@@arabianseafishingtackles6135 yep good luck
FYI you can save yourself some time..... Pour them all together so the sprues are touching, they all come out at once instead of taking them out individually
True!
this is gonna sound silly, but are the savings worth the trouble?
Absolutely! A 5 pack of those jigheads are 5 dollars I pour mine for about 25 cents a jig
Keeping that slag on top keeps the lead hot just keep your pot at least half full you will never have a issue just my 2 cents
True! I just keep my pot as hot as it goes and keep it clean and definitely at least half full
@@nathanquincefishing7122 i know it's an eye sore lol
Can you use range scrap
Possibly! I haven’t tried but I’ve heard of people that have!
Sir,
I'm from Kerala, India.
Where did you get Jig hook, mold, weasel etc ?
I order all my stuff from Barlow’s tackle not sure if they ship internationally though
I do the same thing even with dirty lead. Just make the shit people make things too complicated. It's a lead fishing weight or buckshot it's gonna get dirty, lost or bloody anyways. People back in the day didn't have all this fancy stuff and they made out all right
What type of mask do you use?
N95 filter mask!
@@nathanquincefishing7122 I wouldn’t think that’s enough to stop lead fumes
I am from india
Mmmm.. I’m down to 10 Five gallon buckets full of clean range lead muffins. I can’t lift a bucket so it’s a lot of lead. I’ve been pumping out 9mm and .45 bullets for reloading for years and still have 3 or 4 fish boxes of raw junk filled range lead to smelt down. With all that lead I’m still buying 1 to 10 oz sinkers and jigs at scary prices and it NEVER occurred to me that I could make my own. I probably left 30lbs of lead on the bottom of the big ditch so I’ll be saving enough cake to buy a new reel or maybe a new gun. Yahoo mofo.
