Hell yeah, thanks for the shout out. Vengeance Is Mine is great, I think you'll dig it. It's like a blend of Memories of a Murder a little, mixed with Elio Petri's Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, another Criterion film worth picking up if you see it in the wild that isn't talked about much anymore. Happy film watching my friend!
After seeing your video I am getting crazy because I have now more Criterion titles to collect!!!From the last top five ones I have to pick up only War and Peace and Black Girl!
Another great video, Bill. Congrats on your huge haul! I gasped when you dropped the Tati box set! Nice job convincing me to finally tackle War and Peace. You’re gonna dig Vengeance is Mine, but I tried to warn you about Jellyfish Eyes! Oh, well.
I got many of the same things you did- After Hours, Petite Maman, Triangle of Sadness, Thelma and Louise. Some titles I got that different from yours are: Teorama, Do the Right Thing, Tokyo Olympiad and Beau Travail. The only blind buy for me was: Tokyo Olympiad. One of the Criterion closet visitors was raving about it, and it got me kind of interested in checking it out. Thanks for sharing your great hall. Inland Empire is hated by many- even a lot of diehard Lynch fans but I love it and I’ve probably seen it 20 times in the theater and multiple times at home. I think the new upgrade looks and sounds amazing. I hope you also added the recent 4K addition of Lost Highway to your collection because that’s another one where the upgrade makes a huge difference, imo.
I picked up double indemnity, an autumn afternoon (someone got Tokyo story before me), raging bull, after hours, the Irishman, onibaba, the shooting and ride in the whirlwind, le samouraï, straw dogs, until the end of the world, lost in America, blue velvet, twin peaks fwwm, lost highway, inland empire, millers crossing, fear and loathing, Thelma and Louise, cure, thin red line, and uncut gems. thank you for the criterion content billiam :)
I trust your taste since we seem to have similar likes, so I'll be watching all 5 of your top suggestions for sure! My pickups for this sale were slim but mighty: The Complete Jacques Tati Petite Maman The Red Shoes
The Criterion 50% Sale was amazing. Bought these movies and I think it was a quarter of your budget. I want to say that I did bought Amarcord, Memories of Murder, High Sierra, Rashomon, In The Mood For Love and Hearts And Minds but they were bought before the 50% off sale. And the Bo Widerberg’s New Swedish Cinema box set was purchased but would be delivered after the sale. So here are my movies that I did bought in the sale: Targets Miracle In Milan Belle De Jour Panique House The Adventures of Baron Munchausen Stalker Visions of Eight Pierrot Le Fou A Hard Day’s Night The Samurai Trilogy Three Films By Luis Buñuel The Ranown Westerns The Leopard
Nice pick ups! I think those are all great choices (and Jellyfish Eyes isn't that bad, though whether it should be in the collection is another story). I only got one thing during the sale and that was Pasolini 101. I almost didn't get it due to how controversial he was as a director, but I got it because I wanted to contribute to the discussions on Daisuke Beppu's channel which I have done on numerous occasions. Enjoy your pickups!
Also I’ll just list my pickups here! High and Low, Jeanne Dielman, Identification of a Woman, Summer Interlude, After Hours, Watermelon Woman, Thelma and Louise, Petite Maman, Medicine for Melancholy, Complete Jean Vigo, The Servant, Mandabi, Fellini’s Roma, Punch Drunk Love, Twin Peaks: FWWM, Female Trouble, Last Temptation of Christ, and Solaris.
Very nice haul. Vengeance Is Mine is fantastic. Imamura is incredible. Have you seen Make Way For Tomorrow? Ozu used it as basis for Tokyo Story. Agree with you on Korean Cinema. Very slept on.
I hate how they don’t let you film! It’s not illegal! It’s a public area! But happy to see the haul nonetheless! Thanks to your wallet for enduring pain this month. I just did further research and Barnes and noble does have a rule of no film/photography. Can’t be mad at that since it’s disclosed as a rule.
Dazed and Confused is also a personal favorite. And that was a KILLER Linklater impersonation. I really disliked Vengeance Is Mine although that director has done some other good stuff. Interested to hear your thoughts on it. Never heard of Jellyfish Eyes but another widely hated Criterion film is Five Corners which I really liked, so you never know.
I don't understand what's good in Dazed and Confused. I heard much about it, but I didn't stand it and pushed Stop button after 20 minutes. Very toxic, unpleasant and disgusting movie for me.
The Return of the King! Can’t wait to watch this beauty!
We would love a criterion collection update man!❤
You know it will be a good day when a bill griff haul pops up on your recommended
Hell yeah, we’re so fucking back

I saved up a few months of money from selling plasma back in 2022 and for the November B&N sale I dropped like $1400 on Criterion.
i recently watched Seconds and my god is it good so ahead of it’s time!
Another great video, Bill. Congrats on your huge haul! I gasped when you dropped the Tati box set! Nice job convincing me to finally tackle War and Peace. You’re gonna dig Vengeance is Mine, but I tried to warn you about Jellyfish Eyes! Oh, well.
"I never thought I would enjoy a french new wave film" *next 50 films are french*

Thelma and Louise: slayed
Triangle of Sadness: no comment
Yo! I’d gladly take La Cienaga! Don’t step on it!
That Last Jedi/Succession trailer meme for Jellyfish Eyes was very funny
So glad you picked the Tati collection. Such an amazing director and his filmography though small, are so special. Here’s hoping someone recs them.

Holy crap, what a massive haul! I only picked up Y Tu Mama Tambien for this sale. I know I'll pick up some more come November.
A haul for the ages! 😍

Holy shit I'm about to cast this onto my family room tv and tell everyone about a new episode of prestige tv. 😊
Very nice haul.
Vengeance Is Mine is fantastic. Imamura is incredible.
Have you seen Make Way For Tomorrow? Ozu used it as basis for Tokyo Story.
Agree with you on Korean Cinema. Very slept on.
I’ve been wanting to check out Make Way For Tomorrow! Also yes, Criterion needs to bring more Korean cinema to it’s collection!
@@BillGriff1 you've inspired me to block out 7 hours in the near future & finally get down to watching War & Peace.
Do an updated tour!
Broooooooo let's goooo
Yea, that is odd the Wages of Fear has that Director Approved. He died in 1977. So not sure how that is possible?
Movie List to search for them myself ?
Very cool.
Heck yeah

They make the discs in Mexico but they don't sell the movies here and they don't ship to this country neither 🙃
Do updated collection
