Very nice haul. Bound is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I'm happy to see that you got it. And so happy it's now part of the Criterion collection and is getting the recognition it deserves. Mudbound is very good. It's directed by Dee Rees, who also directed Pariah, another great movie that has a Criterion release.
Princess Bride is indeed my favorite. I also just grabbed Mulholland Drive, have not seen it yet though. Daddy Longlegs is solid. Safdie brothers haven't disappointed me yet. I want to grab Exotica. Happy Criterion season brotha.
It deleted my other comment for some reason but I love so many of these. Blue Velvet is in my top 5. Trainspotting is in my top 10. Videodrome and Funny Games are bangers. Bound is awesome, just got my Criterion copy after having not seen it for many years. Love Japan but need to see an Ozu still. Need to see Exotica as well as a fellow Torontonian :)
Great haul! Floating Weeds, the silent version is really great. It opened my eyes to how great and deep story telling can be even without dialogue. Worth giving it a shot even before the remake. Since you mentioned stories about racism, I would recommend A Dry White Season. I got the new BFI release of it, but it’s in the Criterion collection as well. Glad to see that you’re making more videos recently.
@@CineArtTherapy thanks for the info, great to see you leaving a comment again. I will check out the silent version, it sounds great. I’ll have to put A Dry White Season on the watchlist, had never heard of it.
@@cinema.inspired Thank you. It was nice to have an opportunity to comment 🙂 I watched The Lost Weekend in the cinemas last weekend and thought of you. An incredible film. I learned about it from your video discussing Billy Wilder films.
I also have discovered so many new favourite movies from Criterion blind buys and these B&N 50% off sales are perfect for those finds. If you love movies about the holocaust I can warmly recommend Son of Saul and Zone of Interest if you havn't seen them. Don't think they are in the collection though but they really should be! Both are really great and powerful in their own way.
I thought I picked up a lot of titles but you got me beat. I have picked up quite a few releases for The Criterion Collection sale this go around. So far I have watched two of them. There are 2 more titles I'm debating on getting right now or not (Straw Dogs [Blu-ray] & Dead Man [Blu-ray]). 4Ks: After Hours Blood Simple (This was a first-time watch and it was good. 7.5 out of 10) Bound Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Mean Streets Night of the Living Dead One False Move Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid Risky Business (Preorder) The Others The Roaring Twenties To Die For Blu-rays: La Bamba Miller's Crossing (Another first-time watch and I really enjoyed this one. I previously owned the regular Blu-ray but never got around to watching it. 8 out of 10)
@cinema.inspired man, I'll be honest, o hate the princess bride book packaging as well and am a bit bummed that when it was released on 4k, the 4k got the book packaging and the updated blu got the case.
@@181andbeyond I don’t mind the princess one actually. It fits well with the other digipack ones. I personally rather have all the releases in regular cases
Funny Games is wonderful, not sure why Haneke decided to remake his own movie. I guess for the people who don't watch foreign films. 🤣 All That Money Can Buy was pretty good. I might have to re-watch Insomnia because the title really bothered me. Where the hell was the insomnia?! I wish they titled it something else.
@@cinema.inspired I’m not, I’ve never seen discs in a square. Is that something new. I know DVDs that it. But I’m not rich so I don’t have a blu ray thing.
