  • @eRA-Nick

John the big problem you have and you even mentioned is the outer shoulder getting shredded. This is because the suspensions setup is not very good for track use. As you turn in the tyre rolls over and most of the weight ends up on the outer shoulder scrubbing the rubber away.
My advise is to spend some money on a coilover setup with camber adjustable top mounts to give you more neg camber, this will help the tyre to roll more centrally across the tyre and massively reduce the outer shoulder getting destroyed.
On another note I’m using the Goodyear F1 supersports on my golf gti tcr and they are epic, they hold on a lot longer than the ps4’s that were on before. I went on tyre reviews latest mega test and went for the supersports and haven’t been disappointed.

I’ve recently had huge problems with the factory fitted 235/35/19 Bridgestone S005 tyres fitted to my 2020 M135i, they have suffered from extremely abnormal uneven wear even though they are at the recommended pressures and the car was not driven hard, they were worn (feathered and stepped) which included weird centre wear in only 4600 miles, BMW are currently investigating the issue in parallel with Bridgestone as it is not an isolated issue, Bridgestone say they are not compatible with the cars set up even though they are star marked and fitted at factory, I’ll never buy Bridgestone tyres again after this experience and cost of new Pzero PZ4’s, I’m sure that if I had used the S005’s on track they would have done exactly the same as the sports, Bridgestone UK told BMW (as part of my open warranty claim) that the S005’s are too soft a compound for these cars.

My 2019 Nissan 370Z sport coupe came with the Bridgestone Potenza S007 which was a great handling tire. The only drawbacks were the high rate of tread wear and the excessive wear on the outside of the tread on the front tires after a spirited drive through the mountains in Northern California. The replacement tire at 15,000 miles was the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, a fantastic performing tire that gave me a good 35K miles with no tire rotations. Its drawback was that the steering wasn't as responsive and solid as I would have liked. The set I'm currently using is the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2(240) and am totally satisfied with them, especially with their firm and responsive control. They will not last as long as the 4S tires, probably around 21K miles.

Another variable in Summer Tires is that a particular tire that is available in 16" - 22", for example, may perform extremely well in 19" or 20" and larger, but perform much worse in the 17" and 18" sizes. I ended up with Yoko Advan Neova AD08r now but again, fantastic on track and fine as a daily unless it is absolutely pelting down, then I take it very easy.

    Hi Jon
    Love your channel.
The tyres are fit for for a road tyre.
Track use you will need too upgrade your suspension to coil overs and upgrade your anti roll bars.
This will cost you far more than £400.00.
The camber needs adjustment so does the toe.
You will need adjustable bump and rebound on the dampers.
A full suspension set up on a flat patch and corner weight the car .
All of this will be terrible on the road.
    You can’t have both.
Also adjust your tyre pressures to something like 2.00 -2.10 Bar.
Please keep up the good work.

Looks like they would suit a lighter car, looks like the load was too high. The rippled/pealed effect is common on certain types of tyre like Pirelli Trofeo R’s, also the wear looks similar… with the Trofeo they get better as the tread wears down to almost a slick… it might have been worth pushing on a bit more and seeing if the wear slows and grip increases but understand this is hard on a road car where you have to drive home after the day.

I don't think the potenza sport is in the same category as the michelin and goodyear supersport type tyres. I was looking at them for my mondeo as tyre choice in my size is limited, alot of reviews suggest these potenza sport don't like the cold, damp british mornings. I think i'll be going for goodyear assymetric 5's
