- This is a video made by Sherralin from the UK when she came to Australia. Sherralin came out with me and this is what she found.
I’m out for the day with Johnno from Road Train Adventures. Learning how to hitch up a road train and dolly and chatting about what life is like as a road train driver in this massive country.

Thanks Steffen
Fantastic - really enjoyed it, yet again :)
Awesome. Thanks Tim
Wow that was something a bit different. I tell you the trailers are so weirdly shaped in the UK. Looks like you both had a great day
Yes and the same in America
Hello Johnno & Lorry Diaries😁🇦🇺
Howdy Rick
Another great job Johnno have a safe trip mate, catch you on the next one. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
For sure. Thanks Wayne.
It’s a beautiful sound going up and down those gears…….brings back memories
You should hear it in real life. Much better
Another interesting one mate, I think she thoroughly enjoyed seeing how we do it out here. It would be an eye opener compared to Europe I would think. Stay safe mate and keep on trucking 😊
Thanks again. It was certainly an eye opener hearing how bad their tachograph system works.
Awesome video Johno & Lorry diaries👍👍👍
Very good. Thanks Raymond
@@RoadTrainAdventures you’re welcome Johno.
Very nice

It was a good day all round though.
Sherralin made a nice vid. Good views and story. 👌
Yeah and she got good views on her channel.
Spain will never be the same. Your outlook will change I'm sure. Did you advertise in the paper? They have Jackaroos, Jillaroos and now truckaroos. You understand now what you have been missing out on. Best wishes, good luck, good health. Come to Australia. We need you.
Thanks David. Yes everything changes.
Love you videos Johnno, and your content of an educating manner ,especially to the general motoring public, certainly helps promote this great industry in a positive light, and reinforces the right attitudes and road etiquette a lot of us have been taught and still expect on Australian roads .
Just one thing I would be a bit careful about though mate is putting content into a public space with the time old tradition of not wearing a seat belt as a truckie, you and your passengers choice obviously as we are all adults , and not saying I'm a saint by any stretch ,but opens us up to the muppets of the world that don't believe the professionalism we promote .
Keep up the good though though mate 👍
I replied on the other comment
Hi Johnno, always love your videos, you also have a great speaking voice you could have a career in radio I reckon. Just a thought in regard to what you were saying about autos. I think there are a lot of misconceptions with a lot of people, in that unless you’re driving a garbage truck or agitator etc they’re mostly automated manuals rather than autos and you can always (at least with the ones I’ve driven) leave it in manual mode and change as you would a manual. They’re actually good on hills because they can swap gears really quickly. Just a thought, keep up the great work!!
Thanks Arthur for your kind words. Yes I know they are manuals that shift automatically. Any time I've had to drive one of these I always put it in manual and user the buttons.
Love the Kwacka! (Kawasaaki) another fine video thanks Johnno.
Thanks Bobby. Yes that was an extremely rare find. It was in the an absolutely prefect condition.
Was it a Kwaka 9? I was thinking Honda 4 but I spose the brown tank gives it away. Either bike would do though. I remember when they were new and current. They both killed a lot of people.
Yes you got it
Hi mate, can u please make a video on tools as well, like what basic tools a truck should carry for an emergency situation
That's a good idea. Yes I'll try to do that some time.
That is one classy shopping bike.
For sure
Hi from an Australian who lives and works in France, yeah pretty hard to compare Europe and Australia,i've lived and worked in both, drive trucks over here, drove trucks over there. Here the équipement is pretty snazzy,no clutch pedal,no gearstick, electronic this, electronic that. For me the biggest différence would probably be the amount of véhicules on the road here, the trafic jams are unbelievable here, one little accident on the road here could cost you missing à delivery....and the snow and ice over here (and i'm from Melbourne)which i'm not quite sure is that frequent in Australia,i know that it does snow over there, but ice, not too sure.
Great chanel.
Wow. I thought the roads are better all round over there so traffic jams were not so common. I wish I could go there to experience this for myself.
Most of our driving is on the motorway, which are pretty good. If you were to use the secondary roads you'll find that they are quite narrow, there are some secondary roads that are in great shape but not really made for heavy véhicules.I only do local work now,i am amazed at some of the places i have to deliver,it's miracle that i can get in and out,the trucks seem to get bigger and the roads seem to get smaller.Have à great day.
I see. Well maybe I'll get to see all this one day.
I think euro trailers have ABS so they use a totally different electric connection
We have the EBS plug. I'm not sure if that's the same as there.
Very good
👍👍
Oh, how could I forget, we have kangaroos, snakes, spiders and crocodiles. Also melanoma so get the Akubra on.
The lucky country
great video , when you went to invercargilldid you go to bert munros museum hope so
No. I haven't heard of that one.
The world’s fastest Indian.
👍
👍😊👍
Very good
I loved her first comment. Old fashioned truck. Just had to chuckle. They are beautiful old Dinosaurs after all. I was watching another English trucking video the other day at the Devon truck show. All cab over trucks, as is the norm. Some lovely artwork and beautifully presented trucks. But they don't have the same impact as the long nose American ones. But even you with your experience wouldn't want to drive your rig in UK. They simply don't fit. Would have loved to have seen her having a go at the Eaton box. I drove trucks in the UK all manual but all Synchro gears. Didn't drive a crash box in a truck until I moved here. And my only Auto was here. Would have been a totally different driving experience for her. As my test examiner said to me. You can drive a truck. The gearbox you learn. That was an 18 speed Eaton.
Very true Dave. I wouldn't like to drive my truck around England. I'd be in all sorts of trouble. I did see on Trucker Tim that he picked up a new T Line Scania that had a bonnet and everyone was looking at it in awe thinking that it was great.
[13:20] 'Nuriootpa Traders' get around Johnno 😳
Yeah but they only come over to Perth on the occasion.
Can you please explain to us what is needed to go up or down Greenmont with a road train please?
Right now road trains aren't allowed up and down Greenmount but during those times we can, we need a permit from Main Roads.
Hello,
Nice informative video
The reverse with the trailer and the dolly seam complicated, I tried with American truck simulator or ETS2 but it's always hard for me
It might be easier in real life.
Never wear out the gearbox Johnno, Never wear out the seatbelt if it doesn’t get used 😂😂😂. Gee Perth looks dry Johnno. Unlike North Queensland it won’t stop bloody raining 🌧️☹️
I'm in Perth right now and it's raining all week. No good as I've been loading each day.
Nice video once again Johnno, very informative
Awesome. Thanks Andrew
keep that hammer down
Always
