I know I'm a little late to the party but I need to chime in... I am a stagehand and I worked Adam's show a few years back and he has one of the best live voices I've ever heard! I walked by his dressing room and heard him warming up his voice. If the crowd paid just to hear just that they would have been satisfied! It was impressive! And for the record he doesn't use autotune, doesn't need it.

2 words... MORE PLEASE! Seriously Rebecca...you've barely scratched the surface of this man who for the last 8 years has toured extensively as the front man for QUEEN! Brian May and Roger Taylor (who you will no doubt recognize as the founding members of the band "Smile" that became Queen when Freddie joined them) heard about Adam from their longtime keyboardist, Spike Etney, who watched Adam on Idol and immediately rang them up to watch him. Brian May then called the producers of American Idol and offered to be in the live finale, where they performed "We Are The Champions" with Adam and the other guy in the finals. May and Taylor were blown away by him and within another year or so, called Adam to ask if he would fly to Belfast where they were being honored with a lifetime award at the EMAs and doing a medley for which they needed a damn good singer. Adam of course said "YES!" right away and the rest, as they say, is history. Check out "Who Wants To Live Forever", "Show Must Go On" and many others! Adam was in musical theater at age 10 and also had a couple years of opera training. His vocal teacher said when he was a kid, it was never enough for him to be ABLE to reach certain notes; he wanted to know HOW he was able. Adam has one of the best voices I’ve heard in the past 50 years and I’m not surprised when he was asked to front Queen. I was brought up on 70’s & 80’s rock music and when he sings rock music he is untouchable. Having said that his vocal range is such that he can sing anything he wants. Simply outstanding.

Finally!! Adam is my all time favorite singer/performer and still outrageously underrated!!! This compilation is actually pretty dated at this point. He is even more matured and controlled now. I recommend either believe at the Kennedy Center Honors, or Who Wants to Live Forever at the Isle of Wight festival for a more up to date view of his abilities. I have had the pleasure of seeing him three times (of the five concerts I have been to in my life) and have never experienced anything like it before. He watches the audience nearly as much as the audience watches him. So you feel him seeing you and you're appearance is just as important as his. Mesmerizing is the perfect word to describe him.

Interesting that you mention he could be an opera singer. He did say that he studied with an opera singer as a teenager for a short while and even sang some light opera briefly. He did lots of musical theatre as well, as a kid and in his 20s. The panels in front of the drummer is for sound control so it doesn't overpower other instruments and the vocals. As for Lambert, I saw him in concert with Queen a few years ago and no, he is not Freddie Mercury. No one can compare to the late great Freddie. But if there is anyone who can do Freddie justice, it's Adam. He was spectacular. As he said at the concert, "I am not Freddie. I am just a fan who happens to have the privilege of singing his songs with Queen.

The Plexiglas panels reduce the amount of bleed over into the drum mics from everything else. They are very useful if they are trying to record live. They would help reduce resonant feedback to the drums. In a live setting, large venue, big crowd, they are micing the drums, and amplifying them on their own, they aren't going to overpower anything going through a big PA. Now in a small venue, low volume, or acoustic performance, they would help keep the volume in check a bit. They are no replacement for dynamic control. I could be wrong, I have only been playing drums for 35+ years. Great video as usual RVA...
Adam has a God given voice for sure! He is just amazing! He and Freddie are/were both amazing in their own rights. Adam does have a depth and RANGE to his voice that is so beautiful and he has amazing power behind that incredible voice! I've loved him since he first strutted onto the AI stage. Look up Adam singing with Queen recently or even his very brand new stuff from Velvet Side A, there are live recordings all over RUclips. He is remarkable, he is ridiculously talented and a beautiful human. He has only gotten better in the last 10 or so years and he is smart about taking care of his voice. So glad you love him too.

I do love Adam Lambert. Seeing the queen show with him on tv one of the new years eve I was ready to be very judgemental and dislike since no one can replace Freddie... boy was I wrong. Instead of trying to replace Freddie he instead performed the songs in more his own style so I didn't find myself comparing the two at all and instead was totally on-board before the second song had finished. Only bad thing about this reaction is now I fear I may slip into another AL RUclips rabbit hole and binge watch his performances when I should be sleeping. Oh well, won't be the first time 😁

Adam Lambert grew up in the theater. Got his professional start on American Idol. If you want to hear an amazing rendition of Ring Of Fire by Johnny Cash. Check his American Idol version. He made it his own. It was quite amazing. The Plastic panel in front of the drums is so they don't overpower the rest of whats going on. I love him. He HAS done opera. Look up his performance of Nessun Dorma :) I looooooooove that you've done this video. Adam is absolutely brilliant and, in my humble opinion, one of the bests out there. He is versatile and has worked his ass off to be where he is now after so many times told 'no'.

He also did musicals (for years, previous to American Idol) for example: Wicked. And he did it brilliantly. You may like it more or less or nothing at all, that's not for me to say. The panels in front of the drummer is for sound control so it doesn't overpower other instruments and the vocals. As for Lambert, I saw him in concert with Queen a few years ago and no, he is not Freddie Mercury. No one can compare to the late great Freddie. But if there is anyone who can do Freddie justice, it's Adam. He was spectacular. As he said at the concert, "I am not Freddie. I am just a fan who happens to have the privilege of singing his songs with Queen.

The drummers have those panels up, called “the cage” to help tone down the volume so they don’t overpower everything.
The Plexiglas panels reduce the amount of bleed over into the drum mics from everything else. They are very useful if they are trying to record live. They would help reduce resonant feedback to the drums. In a live setting, large venue, big crowd, they are micing the drums, and amplifying them on their own, they aren't going to overpower anything going through a big PA. Now in a small venue, low volume, or acoustic performance, they would help keep the volume in check a bit. They are no replacement for dynamic control. I could be wrong, I have only been playing drums for 35+ years. Great video as usual RVA...

Adam has a God given voice for sure! He is just amazing! He and Freddie are/were both amazing in their own rights. Adam does have a depth and RANGE to his voice that is so beautiful and he has amazing power behind that incredible voice! I've loved him since he first strutted onto the AI stage. My favorite singer of all time (and I'm OLD!).

Look up Adam singing with Queen recently or even his very brand new stuff from Velvet Side A, there are live recordings all over RUclips. He is remarkable, he is ridiculously talented and a beautiful human. He has only gotten better in the last 10 or so years and he is smart about taking care of his voice. So glad you love him too.
As a longtime fan of his i'd say your reaction to him is the best. Check out his performance of Who Wants To Live Forever with Queen he's actually their singer now and is touring with them and he also dropped an EP called Velvet Side A.

I do love Adam Lambert. Seeing the queen show with him on tv one of the new years eve I was ready to be very judgemental and dislike since no one can replace Freddie... boy was I wrong. Instead of trying to replace Freddie he instead performed the songs in more his own style so I didn't find myself comparing the two at all and instead was totally on-board before the second song had finished. Only bad thing about this reaction is now I fear I may slip into another AL RUclips rabbit hole and binge watch his performances when I should be sleeping. Oh well, won't be the first time 😁
