      I am thinking, after just watching this, that it is nice to watch & listen to a pairing where the two actors are NOT fawning all over each other and saying how wonderful the other is. Mulligan and Fassbender actually had a conversation.

    One of the best things that the year of 2023 did for the filmmaking industry was bring Michael Fassbender back into the world. Not saying he was ever truly gone, but there was a slump in time where we really did miss him for just how great of an actor he is. Him being in two movies this year and NOW here with a Variety Actors on Actors you can only be happy for the guy.

      He said in 2016 that he was gonna take a long break from acting.
      Then in early 2017 he started racing and got married. He has also had a kid and started an acting school

    So glad to hear that Michael hasn't given up on his racing dream entirely. Having watched Porsche's series with him on 'The Road to LeMans,' it was one of the best sports documentary series out there and Michael was a very compelling subject because you see his struggles along with the achievements.
    If you're into racing and haven't seen them, I HIGHLY recommend it.

    These two gave some of my favorite performances of the decade in Shame. Watching their scenes together in that movie genuinely feels like an invasion of privacy. Brilliant acting.

    The most underappreciated aspect of "Shame" was definitely Carey Mulligan's singing. I hope somebody cast her in a musical movie, she has such an amazing singing voice

    The moment I saw these two in "Shame" I was flabbergasted. They both did such an incredible job. At the time, I was much younger, and I admit. a movie like that did jolt me in some kind of way. But that is what a good film, and good acting does; to make you feel uncomfortable. It's nice to see Fassbender back on the screen again! He is so magnetic.

    I really love what Michael Fassbender share about his racing experience. Especially calling it an ego test, since injuries and losing is part of the game. Just so much respect to him for trying out one of his life long dream despite how hard it must be.

      @@samtan4729 Well, most movies don't get any nominations at the Academy Awards. Are all but the movies at the Oscar's overlooked? It has to be something else to a movie being overlooked than merely being excluded fom the Academy Awards, or else most movies ever produced are overlooked.

    Carey is always a top favourite of mine, and I do love so many other actors in these; however, I do think this is one of the most evenly matched conversations. Most of these, one actor is a bit more conversational or talks about it themselves in an unequal measure (no judgement! It just happens!) but this was a proper 50/50 exchange. Love to see it!

    When Fassbender says Shame took him time to get over. I can believe it. I use to see him I. Interviews long after and felt creeped out. That’s a tough film.

    Shame is one of my favorite films and it breaks my heart each time. I always cry. There's so much to unpack there. Alexander is just a brilliant director, and these two were fantastic. So much talent combined.

      i was thinking when she played Kitty Bennet in Pride & Prejudice. she had almost no lines in that one. and seems so long ago now (2005).
