One of the best things that the year of 2023 did for the filmmaking industry was bring Michael Fassbender back into the world. Not saying he was ever truly gone, but there was a slump in time where we really did miss him for just how great of an actor he is. Him being in two movies this year and NOW here with a Variety Actors on Actors you can only be happy for the guy.
I agree. Such a talented and classy actor, taking a break from acting for years, then suddenly making a comeback with David Fincher and Taika Waititi films. Plus, appearing on "Actors on Actors." Incredible.
He said in 2016 that he was gonna take a long break from acting. Then in early 2017 he started racing and got married. He has also had a kid and started an acting school
Mulligan and Fassbender were the actors who played in the film ‘Shame’ and now, they are reuniting to discuss their perspectives. This is a great reunion for them. Thanks for pairing them up!
I am thinking, after just watching this, that it is nice to watch & listen to a pairing where the two actors are NOT fawning all over each other and saying how wonderful the other is. Mulligan and Fassbender actually had a conversation.
Michael truly is one of the finest and most underrated actors of any generation and he should've collected every award with his performances in movies like Jobs, Shame and Twelve years a slave.
@@KB-ej8hm I think he is less known than he deserves. For example, we see Ryan Gosling in everywhere but Fassbender is much better actor than Gosling. I dont know maybe being a celebrity is different than being an actor.

So glad to hear that Michael hasn't given up on his racing dream entirely. Having watched Porsche's series with him on 'The Road to LeMans,' it was one of the best sports documentary series out there and Michael was a very compelling subject because you see his struggles along with the achievements. If you're into racing and haven't seen them, I HIGHLY recommend it.
i was thinking that, too. most of these roles i cant imagine being anything other than terrified to take on as well as perform in front of a camera. but they pick them and tackle them.
I really love what Michael Fassbender share about his racing experience. Especially calling it an ego test, since injuries and losing is part of the game. Just so much respect to him for trying out one of his life long dream despite how hard it must be.
These two gave some of my favorite performances of the decade in Shame. Watching their scenes together in that movie genuinely feels like an invasion of privacy. Brilliant acting.
Two amazing, brilliant actors. Carey deserved the Oscar for both An Education and Promising Young Woman. And a nomination for Suffragette. Fassbender is always phenomenal, too. I really enjoyed this conversation. Can't wait to see Maestro!
The most underappreciated aspect of "Shame" was definitely Carey Mulligan's singing. I hope somebody cast her in a musical movie, she has such an amazing singing voice
The moment I saw these two in "Shame" I was flabbergasted. They both did such an incredible job. At the time, I was much younger, and I admit. a movie like that did jolt me in some kind of way. But that is what a good film, and good acting does; to make you feel uncomfortable. It's nice to see Fassbender back on the screen again! He is so magnetic.
Carey Mulligan eventually will earn one Oscar. She is underrated by the Academy pundits. Fassbender is a force of nature. A natural talent for big screen.
I loved this interview SO much. Is the first time that both actors talk about acting as a job, with insurance, time constraints and how their job is only a part of this huge industry.
Although I enjoy all of these pairings. These two are the humblest and most sincere so far. The others kept complemeting themselves in a fake way. These two were honest.

Carey is always a top favourite of mine, and I do love so many other actors in these; however, I do think this is one of the most evenly matched conversations.
