Margot Robbie and Carey Mulligan are truly some of the best actress of their generation. Especially Carey, I'm so happy that Promising Young Woman gave her a lot of credit that she truly deserves. Before that, I felt like she was extremely underrated despite one Oscar nom under her belt before that and now I'm glad people are starting to recognise her talent. I would love to see Carey and Margot worked together again in the future. This interview is amazing, definitely one of the best pairs in Variety Actors On Actors
I wouldn't say she was underrated before that film. She was always in prestige films and always got strong critical praise. I think Promising Young Woman just brought out a different side of her and introduced her to a new audience.
@@samsong24 Yeah her work has often gain critical praise, just saying that from audience perspective, she doesn't get that much talk, I've been a supporter of her since An Education and people don't talk that much about her unfortunately. Even in The Great Gatsby she doesn't get enough credit because she was overshadowed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. It wasn't until Promising Young Woman that changed the way people viewed her
Am I alone in finding her extremely annoying as an actress.? Her mannerisms are the same in every part she plays - her co-star in "She Said" was so much more watchable and believable!
Carey Mulligan made her film debut in Pride and Prejudice by writing a fan letter to Kenneth Branagh and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes who connected her to the casting director of the movie. It's amazing how far she has become from being a small supporting actor to one of the best actress of her generation
also in the supporting category there was Rosamund Pike as well! So many talent in that one! Carey and Pike did the most haunting performances in the last decade, respectively in Promising young woman and Gone Girl.

It also showcase more of their range and skills, playing a character that nobody expected that could happen and they pulled it off very well. Actually Robbie produced PYW and decided herself not to play in it. Carey has a huge career with many amazing movies coming out before PYW coming out as well 🙂
I knew from watching P&P that she was going to be an amazing actress - I actually expected her to become an A-lister long before she did. She was also in another Austen film, Northanger Abbey.
I can listen to Carey Mulligan speak for hours. She SHOULD be nominated for She Said. It's a performance that catches you unaware. It's fierce and pitch-perfect. Can't expect anything less than that from Mulligan, considering the kind of actress she is. It's a shame she lost for An Education and Promising Young Woman.
I was so sad that she lost an Oscar for An Education and Promising Young Woman. Compare to her competition at that time, it should've been easy for her to win. Really easy especially An Education :(
The producer of Promising Young Woman and the lead actress of Promising Young Woman interviewing each other, I absolutely love this as Promising Young Woman is one of my favourite movies of this decade
It’s also ironic since there was a controversial review that said Mulligan was not attractive enough to play Cassie and Margo would have been a better choice. Obviously it was a guy talking out of their ass but it makes this interview nice.
@@taliavelazquez358 I've seen that interview and how Carey ain't attractive as a criticism is absolutely confusing and bullshit. I have a mad crush on her way before Promising came out lol
Im still getting over Mulligan in "Never Let me Go" Jesus what a haunting piece of acting Be careful, if you see this flick it will stay with you a long time.....
I think the thing Margot Robbie was getting at with Carey Mulligan's sincerity is that for three films now - _Suffragette, Promising Young Woman, She Said_ - her projects have a real activist drive behind them, so it's probably easier for her to access those emotions when she's actually feeling them.
Great movie, one of my favourite movie of the year and this is coming from someone who has a soft spot on journalism movies. It's actually crazy that they got the real Ashley Judd and Gwyneth Paltrow, two of Weinstein's victims to play themselves in the movie

Do you know what I respect about Margot Robbie even in a film that she not a producer in, she wanted to help reduce budget cost. Sacrificing her comforts for the success of them film, cos she knows there is sometimes that thin line between success and failure. Some times a film can get great reviews but be a commercial flop.
