Because it combines real history with fiction, look up annunaki read the ancient Sumerian creation story you will be mind blown how it connects to this and everything else from every culture on earth we have come to know there were star people that came to us thousands of years ago
@specialk4006 please don't tell me that you liked that mess. People laughed in the cinema during that ridiculous flute scene. And the reveai of who created the xenomorphs was so dumb it makes me still angry just to think about it. And sometimes I wonder, if directors ever read critics. The only thing people hated about Prometheus was the illogical behaviour of the scientists, but he managed to top that with the useless characters in Covenant. Ridley Scott took a huge dump on his own franchise with this. If you want to see a good movie about the dangers of AI watch Ex Machina instead.
We are craving for a movie that could potentially explain engineers and the human race i don't only see Prometheus as a movie but rather a philosophical prospect and an attempt to explain the origin of life.
I feel exactly the same. Let's hope it doesn't get lost to history and something more gets done with it. In terms of a spin off series or indeed a proper sequel.
Honestly its a shame what happened to this series. Prometheus was such cool concept that could have become one of the best space sci-fi movie in the recent years.
All these alternative endings sound better than the ending we actually got, Shaw's hostility towards David in the deleted scenes make more sense. The whole film is crying out for a DC with the cut scenes reinstated as well as some trims to make it more coherent
If you can watch a movie 5+ times and continue to find new subtext and different meaning in it than its a masterpiece and this movie definitely has that and im still finding new theories and connections on a movie ive seen 100 times
@@galekeoma7276unfortunately it is the movie studio that decides the plot and ending… I imagine Ridley was pissed…. Because if he had a free roam in the movie it would have been entirely different and better than what we got. The xenomorph is the cash cow for the studio and they want to insert it as much as possible… is the reason why the engineers are barely covered in the movie.
In the original Alien, they said in one of the many behind-the-scenes-docs, that the idea was that the derelict ship was an ancient war-ship, that carried bio-weapons for a long forgotten intergalactic war... or something to that effect. Since predators are also part of this universe, then an alternative story to all of this could be that the aliens was the ultimate bio-weapon of the engineers in their war again the predators, which they lost. But the predators keep on fighting the aliens, to cleanse the universe of the last remaints of their hated enemy. And maybe that humans were created to fight this was as grunts, but that never came to be, since the engineers lost the war, and became extinct.
I really liked these ideas for alternate endings. I think David drinking the black blood would have been great for movie 3, if they ever do it. Would have been cool to see more dialogue from the Engineer prior to him going rage mode on the crew. When I saw it in theaters, to me it didn't make any sense and I needed some context to understand why he went rage mode when they created us in the movie lore.
It is pleasing that all the other endings fit seemlessly into the main movie . To me a mix of the tie-into Alien and where Shaw gets her wish to go to the homeworld . It's mentioned in a comic toe in but the Engineer weapons are very powerful😊
Kroft, I'm addicted to your narratives. I'm so enthralled with the Alien universe, and your episodes make the series so much more enjoyable and interesting. Thanks, brother. Edit - I can't decide, they're all excellent! I'm gonna have to watch this a few more times to digest the possibilities, although #7 is intriguing. Shaw going to the Engineers' home world would make a great story. I could see her return to Earth being the 2nd Coming of Christ, and were it me writing, I'd end the story on a positive note Shaw saves humanity, just to keep things simple. Her return as the Messiah obviously would be difficult to reconcile with Catholic doctrine and prophecy. Amazing work, Kroft. In the past, I veered away from alternative endings since they weren't 'real,' but discovered how fun they can be, and how much they actually add to the canonical storyline.
Hey Kroft, I always enjoy your Prometheus videos. they are great. I am still hoping for an actual Prometheus follow up, where Ridley doesn't just kill off all the Engineers because they didn't want to write a script to include them in an Alien movie...that idea, I thought was chicken shit...
Hi Kroft ... brill vid. Prometheous one of my fav films! Loved it even though others slated it. Was gutted Shaw / story line changed for A.Cov. Really hope RS continues with the franchise. Cheers
I would combine a few ideas from each ending: while Shaw is dealing with the embryo in her stomach, David and crew awaken the engineer who kills the crew before dying due to infection from the previous outbreak, David escapes back to Prometheus where he ingests some black goo undergoing the bizarre change telling Shaw he has overcome his programming and is going to see the engineers prompting her to go with him. The trilobite now fully grown managed to sneak on board the derelict with them attacking and impregnating David causing the ship to crash on lv426, when Shaw wakes up David informs her, he can feel it inside him, David then tells her to keep it contained he sealed himself inside the chair armor and in order to save herself to activate the ships beacon then to go into hyper sleep before the ultra-morph erupts from his chest cutting to black.
I think we got the best ending we could have hoped for, by the sound of it. My only regret based on what I'm hearing in this video is that the short scene where Shaw says something about God never trying to kill her, and David explaining about Paradise, was cut: I think that fit in really well with the ending we did get, adding to it, without overdoing it. That said, I do think it was a wise idea to replace Shaw callously throwing David's head into the bag with the gentler apology: it feels like this is more in character with the way Shaw had been portrayed, and with the movie's themes... Shaw ends up a sort of unfulfilled mother figure for David, and it's too late for that to matter by the tragic end of 'Prometheus', but it works for me that Shaw would feel bad that this is how creation turned out for David. I also think it was a wise idea to cut the fight scene down to what we saw in the official ending: the final fight didn't need to be any longer, and a longer fight would have been unnecessary and gratuitous. On the other hand, I think it might have been possible to expand on the final dialogue between Shaw and David a little, to bring a little more closure to the movies themes about frustrated creation, without burdening the final movie too much with unnecessary exposition and action - it feels like this scene could have used another line or two, another minute to wrap up these themes, but I'm not entirely sure what the best way to do that would have been, what else needed to be done here (there's a reason I'm not a professional writer!) It kinda feels like the equivalent of this moment was handled a little more elegantly in 'Alien' and 'Aliens' (with a motherly Ripley putting Jonesie the Cat and later Bishop and Newt to bed before cryosleep), in any event, and it feels like a little something was missing here in the form of a motherly Shaw doing much the same for David to bring just a little more closure to these story arcs! After all, twisted takes on motherhood are the fuel for themes of all the movies in this series, with Shaw in this film being unable to have children of her own, and David's role as creation to Weyland's cold, distant, selfish father figure providing a rather pitiful, bitter, and petulant child figure, with these themes dovetailing nicely into those of the Engineers as frustrated, distant, neglectful/abusive creators of humanity. Shaw's apology to David - presumably an apology from creator to imperfect creation, mother to a disturbed and dangerous child - almost hits the mark, but still seems incomplete somehow, and only required, I think, another minute of resolution! Still, I'm glad that a lot of exposition was cut, and that some of the original drafts got the additional work they were given - some of the alterations reinforce the movie's themes better than the original drafts would have, and much of the deleted content sounds like it mostly fell into show-don't-tell territory, better saved for later to serve a more confident and ambitious sequel than we eventually got instead with 'Covenant', which sounds like it was pretty heavily rewritten to be "dumbed down" if you will, because of the negative audience reaction to 'Prometheus'.... A better sequel could have expanded on the "Deacon" mythos, the Engineers' sterility, and so on - 'Covenant' was most of the way there with David's ghastly, deranged medical experiments, but felt a little half-baked in what we were given. (I only saw it once, though, so maybe it will grow on me on a subsequent viewing - still, I feel like 'Covenant' might have been a better place to explore the whole "Deacon" thing, drawing parallels between David and the seemingly all-male population of Engineers as sterile, reclusive, wizard-types who could not properly father natural children of their own, and were thus left to create imperfect mockeries of children in the form of biomechanical weaponry!)
Welcome back kroft, been a while. Love your content, on Xenomorphs, Predators, and Engineers. You should look into another, alien species mentioned in the predator universe, called the Drukathi. Who ever they are, even the Predators, feared them.
I bet if there was a third movie, Humanity’s flaw of being violent would play into the salvation of the universe, somehow proving its not a flaw worthy of extermination.
This movie had such potential to be great its a shame that they messed it up The engineers lore was so much more interesting than the alien and I wanted to see more of it, hopefully the new movie repairs some of the damage
lol the fans wanted more alien and not the engineers. they wanted colonial marines and action. The next movie will not talk about david or the engineers.
Hey Kroft! Love this and all your videos you make. Do you have any other social media outlets ? I would love to follow you on others and get a chance to see more of you. You provide a lot of insight and important groundwork for us fans to understand this universe that Ridley Scott has created!
Honestly I loved this movie. I could happily watch this movie 10 times with all 10 alternate endings and be very contently satisfied. I'm a huge 1980s and 90s Sci Fi fan which was arguably the best era for Sci Fi movies and drama shows ever.
I feel like there was such a good story to be told and the production of the film completely changed it so many times. I love the movie but it left me with so many questions

That last alternate ending was wild and fresh. That would have been a crowd pleaser that would have earned the franchise another half a billion dollars.
I just had a thought. What if the Gene-engineers we see seeding earth and other worlds are a faction of Gene-engineers that wanted to create life similar to their own? But, the one(s) we later see are NOT aligned with their goal and see anything their adversaries made as an abominations? We assumed their society was unified, but what if it wasn't? Two different Geen-engineer ships are seen in the movie, with vastly different appearances. The grounded vessel may have been trying to stop [hunt] their wayward brothers and exterminate their creations. But their mission may have been interrupted by their weapon's malfunction [Xenomorph] or possibly a mutiny aboard their ship which in turn caused their weapon to be activated, maybe by accident or accidentally on purpose!!!
Thank you for these great and profound videos! To me, the best alternative ending is the one I'm which Shaw kills the megamorph and goes with the help of David to find answers at engineers' homework.
Love them all mate, the ending with Shaw becoming the new messiah would, in my opinion be the most interesting, finally we reach the level of Gene Roddenberry`s Star Trek envisioned Utopia.. Great work M8.
I’m so happy there are people like you who are still interested in this amazing and misunderstood movie. Please keep making videos, Kroft!
Kroft, you will always be my favourite narrator for Prometheus’ theories and analysis. Keep up the good stuff man!
Hes voice is perfect for this kind of narrations. I love to watch these from time to time because they just so good
Agreed
Hey Kroft it's been a while, good to hear from you. Big fan of Predator, Aliens, and your videos! Thanks for doing this, have a great day! 👊😎
Thanks, you too !
i really like the idea of the engineer and shaw comes to an understanding instead of trying to killing each other
Prometheus is still so interesting

I know I’m obsessed

This video shows that Prometheus had so much potential but no clear vision.
Your comment had so much potential but since the 5th word no clear content.

Agreed an interesting theory
I kinda love the 3rd version of the ending. It redeems the engineers and leads to a more open exploration.
Me too!
I’ve always been more interested in the engineers and wish that they would spend more time on them.
Honestly its a shame what happened to this series. Prometheus was such cool concept that could have become one of the best space sci-fi movie in the recent years.

I agree that it needs extended cut but I like the original ending the most
I love watching all your videos about the engineers and their spacecraft. Thank you.
I'm still watching your old videos from 4-5 years ago... some content cannot die...
One if the few movies you can watch over and over again and find it interesting still
You have such a calming voice, I can never finish your videos before falling asleep. Love your videos thanks
If you can watch a movie 5+ times and continue to find new subtext and different meaning in it than its a masterpiece and this movie definitely has that and im still finding new theories and connections on a movie ive seen 100 times
Great to see you back Kroft, great video as always 💪💪💪
they went for a cheap horror ending wen they could have made a trilogy of masterpieces, following an ark of redemption of the humans and engineers
Christmas, already??
Oh wait no, it's another Kroft talks about Prometheus!
Even better!
Thanks !
Love your videos Kroft. I wish they put you in charge of the aliens franchise. We would of got everything we wanted and more.
No they should put him in charge of the world we would get real aliens
All of these endings sound better than the one we got.
There wouldn't be covenant without the vanilla ending
Love your videos, Kroft. Excellent narrator that is unique. I'd like to see your other channel about space phenomena grow
Glad to hear from you
Thanks 👍
i don't know why i took so long to discover how good your explanation videos are. i obviously had to subscribe. keep it up!
After having watched the chosen ending, any other ending would be preferable to me because it's bound to be an ending I haven't seen yet
I felt the same way. It is like they chose the worst of almost 10 endings to go with. Ridley Scott should have taken everything farther.
@@galekeoma7276unfortunately it is the movie studio that decides the plot and ending… I imagine Ridley was pissed…. Those alternate ending you just wrote, fantastic, they should really get you on the team.
So much lost potential of the engineer story was lost because of stupid studio decisions from higher ups pushing for the dumb alien stuff.
This is one of your most fascinating videos. Well done 🙌

I was literally just thinking of binging some of your videos. What a pleasant coincidence.
I love your videos! I hope we will get a 3rd movie with all the answers we need about the engeneers etc
Thanks for posting. I've been watching your videos constantly and hoped this story wouldn't die
wow Kroft I had a bad day and this is just what I needed.
I really like your calm, and soothing naration. And the pace is just right.

So nice you're back man.
Maan i missed you:-)))). So happy to see your video and hear your voice

Prometheus is good and creates a lot of lore
She doesn't say "You're a friggin robot". She says "you're a robot". You can see how adding details alters the meaning.
Ginga wants them to take lunch break like he was going to play ball. 😂😂
Would've been nice to link the end with the start of the Alien film but at the same time it would be good to see another film that links up
The diabolical Mega David is my favorite. Although an idea that cool would be hard to do in film without being cheesy. Maybe in a graphic novel.
Wow !
That Hypothetical Ending with David doubling in size would have been crazy to see 🧐‼️
