The other day I went to an authentic Mexican taco stand and ordered tacos in perfect Spanish. The staff was surprised by my Spanish level and thought it was funny how fluent I am. Hola, I'm Nate. I used to not know any Spanish at all, and I had no interest in learning the language. I thought learning Spanish would be boring, a waste of time, and would provide no value to my life. Then I started taking Spanish classes in high school and everything changed for me. I struggled with learning the language a lot at first, but thanks to my teachers and my Spanish speaking friends, they helped make the learning process fun. Within a few months, I had gotten to a conversational level, but more important, I had become a more confident person. The real win for me, though, was the friendships I made and strengthened. I discovered that not only did I have higher self esteem, but being out in the real world with people, whether old friends or new ones I met, made me feel more alive and connected with the world around me. Now it's my goal to create videos that make you smile and inspire you to learn Spanish or another language!

Vegetarian means plant-based aka based on vegetables / vegetal products, and cheese that comes from animaIs isn’t a vegetarian product, because cheese isn’t a vegetal product - one that just doesn’t eat meats (but eats cheese) is only eating a meatless diet, not a vegetarian diet.

Yo soy de San Diego en California… y esto lo hago cada vez que quiero comida mexicana. Porque en esta manera es más fácil! Además, si estoy en cualquier café, restaurante o una tienda dónde que los empleados son mexicanos/latinos, y puedo ver que preferirían hablar español, entonces yo hablo en ese idioma. Y terminan siendo agradecidos, puedo decir que les encanta. He hecho muchos amigos de esta manera.

Nate, any tips on training my ear to hear rapid Spanish? I watch Spanish news, and I pick up maybe 20% of what they're saying.
Sorry adding my “2cent” porque I used to have the same problem but, I have def improved.
My personal experience talking and listening in person over time just start with listening for “key words” but TIME lol, try to have convos daily if you can just stick with it it will get easier!
Great question! The biggest thing is consuming a lot of audio in Spanish. Speaking and listening are key. This is something that truthfully just takes time. I promise you, as long as you’re consistent, you will be successful! Un abrazo amigo.
Reading and writing is so much easier for me as well. it’s just so hard to parse the words sometimes, and when you get stuck on one word you get left behind and miss the rest of the convo 😢

@@Obesepelican As non native speakers we have to learn and "train" or ear and mind to process the language as if it is natural. I always say "let me turn on my spanish brain" and BOOM im flowing lol.

Hey, Nate. Love your channel! I appreciate how you add translation captions at the bottom of your videos depending on the language being spoken, but do you think it wouldn't add too much text to the screen if you had captions for both languages on the screen at the same time? I think it'd help my learning a lot. When it's Spanish being spoken and I find a phrase I'd like to remember, I'd appreciate it if I could read the phrase in Spanish as well instead of trying to "parrot" whomever is speaking. Gracias!
Agreed this would help me so so much too, sometimes they rattle off something super fast and I can't tell what they're saying in spanish so I have to slow it down to 0.5x speed. Takes a while but it works and is good for listening comprehension 👍
