Yes. Letting the water absorb for a few seconds definitely helps. The thicker the paper the more water and longer the soak the better.
Thank you, Sandra! 🥰🥰
Great trialling and testing so thank you.
My pleasure!
I got a few old plastic school rulers and created my own edges with assort tools. Best is where I bashed the edge against a hard corner, so random and so easy also used up buggered old rulers
Lynn Stinten that’s awesome! ❤️❤️
Thanks Emily, very helpful. I tried the cheap way and got a bunch of dollar tree cheap 0 rulers and took notches out and made my own. Now I am more interested in buying these. Maybe let the water set on heavy stock paper a little more before tearing? This is great.
2nd Chance Crafting that’s a great tip! I’ll try that next time. Thank you! ❤️❤️
Thank you. I’ve had these rulers for a year and had no clue how to use them. The water helps a lot!
Idalee Best I’m glad I could help! 😊❤️🌸
I, too, have never used the other 5 sides. This was quite inspiring and I will try this out soon. Thanks for the demonstration. I'm subscribing right now and looking forward to catching up with your videos.
Thank you so much, Diane! I’m glad I could be of help! Have a fabulous day! Hugs!
I’ve always put off buying this set as I have metal tear rulers and I thought they were expensive for just using one pattern!!! But now thanks to your demo and the pen that comes with the set I’m going to invest. Thanks for sharing xxx💕
My pleasure! Happy to help
Wow! I have metal tear rulers that are different, but the same. I have to try this now! This was a super helpful video. Good on you, Emily!
Tuesday Moriarty I’m so glad it was helpful! Thank you! ❤️❤️
Thank you for showing how to use the tear guide rulers, I think I will go buy the set.
Debra Hersh it’s my pleasure, Debra! ❤️❤️
This is great to know! I didn't realize I could use water to help tear the larger sides!
Susan Heien 😊
I love it when this ol dog learns a new trick 💕 yes. The tassel thing I’m not sure about ??
Susan Rutland I need to look into the tassel thing. It’s on my list 😊
Hi! New subbie here! Great video! I was always wanted to see what all the other patterns look like! I have a metal tear ruler but I ordered this set last week. Thanks for sharing!
Eileen Ammendolea Thank you, Eileen! ❤️😊🤗
Thank you for sharing!! Must get this!
My pleasure!
New subscriber..... thank you for the video. Was searching for a video about these tear rulers. Wonderful tutorial....
Jaci H hi, Jaci! I’m glad to have been helpful 😊❤️🤗
I've been using all sides. I found that if you give it a few seconds once you use the water it's easier to tear. Also, for heavier paper with a pattern (or finish) use the plain side, and again wait for the water to soak in and then tear.m
Reikiht56 thank you for the fab tips! I’ve used them since, and I did leave the water sit longer. It definitely works better! ❤️😊🤗
Great idea for a video! I think that the rulers are Deckle (large and small) Sawtooth (large and small) and Wavy ( large and small). I'm pretty lazy, so watching you play has let me know if I will actually use these rulers or not. I have some metal tear rulers from years and years ago, and didn't use any beyond the deckle because I'm so lazy. Did I mention I'm lazy? LOL. Great video Emily!
Katheryn Thames 🤣🤣 I’m so glad I was using the word deckle correctly! Once it left my mouth it just sounded wrong! I’m lazy, too because I’ve had them in my drawer for well over a year, and I just tried it today 🤣🤣
Thank You, I now have 5 more tear tools !
It’s my pleasure! Happy crafting! 💕💕
Brilliant demo Emily.....I bought the tear rulers but also only ever use the small deckle edge one....I’m still a little baffled about the slot in the centres......not sure how how they would be used for making tassels .....someone on another channel suggested to slot the paper through but I couldn’t get that to work....😂😂😂
Wendy Jackson my dear friend Tomi at Ephemeraphiles by Tomi said she would show me how to make tassels ❤️❤️ I’ll pass along the info as soon as I have it 😊
I’m going to have to go to the craft room in a few! 😂😘❤️🤗
Dee Dee Farago 🤣❤️🤗😘
Thanks for sharing all your tips x
Julia McNeill Crafts it’s my pleasure 😊❤️
You answered my question about all the other sides. Thanks ! I always wondered 👍. (Not sure about the tassel thing tho)
Debbie Wagoner yay! I’m so glad! Thank you! If I figure out the tassel thing, I’ll definitely share ❤️❤️
I found this to be helpful. I might have to go buy the tear rules now. :) I keep meaning to, but then I find other things to buy. lol
Lori Goodman I’m glad it was helpful! I put an Amazon link to them in the description box (only if you need help finding them 😊) I’m hooked now! 🤗❤️
Interesting experiment.
Thank you! 🥰
I'm guessing that the water pen is also used when tearing mulberry paper? Or handmade paper. Very cool video!
Lori Smith It would be perfect for that! Thank you! 🌸🌸
To really have some fun try putting coffee in the pen instead of water.
That’s genius, Betty!!! Thank you so much!! 🥰
The slit in the middle is for straight edge tearing, I believe.
Thank you! That makes total sense 🥰
This is great! How fun!
Thanks!
Interesting cool tear ruler ps
Thank you! 🥰🥰
Interesting!
I will show you how I made the tassels. 😇
Ephemeraphiles by Tomi oh, thank you! I tried figuring it out in my own, but I’m lost lol! ❤️
Yes I have those rulers and no I only use just the one but I guess I will now thanks for showing me
My pleasure, Barb! Happy crafting 🥰
I made my own tear ruler.
Gretchen Hulett unfortunately, I found out I could make my own AFTER I had bought these. Oh, well! 😊
Tfs funny how we don’t utilise what we have to it’s full potential xxi have a couple of tear rulers and couldn’t justify buying these but now I’m thinking 🤔😂😂 can’t have too many ...right
Craftydawk. Janette Dawkins exactly! 😉
🙂❄️🇨🇦
The slot is to slide the page through so you don’t have to press so hard…
Thank you!
I came to watch and I was no longer subscribed to you. So weird. But anyway....good video!
TexJudy that has happened to me before! It is weird. Thank you ❤️❤️
Bought this today it doesn't work
I’m sorry. Did you use the water pen?
