    FINALLY!!! After watching about 7 other videos with titles claiming to show me how to use this tool but failing miserably, I finally found someone who not only knows how to clearly explain and demonstrate how to use the Crop-a-Dile, but also provided the much needed close ups of the working parts! I cannot thank you enough for such a quality video as this one! Thank you so very much! 😁❤️

    I am so thankful you posted this because there are no useful tutorials for setting eyelets that I have been able to find. I invested in a cropadile after purchasing a used stash box and I gave up when I kept smashing the darn things not realizing that was what they were supposed to do. The splitting on the back side of the eyelet looks unfinished and weird to me, but I guess that is normal. Who knew?

    Thank you for this! I do eyelets all the time, they seem good, but I really just enjoyed watching this explanation, as I guess I never thought about the details.
    Now when I am teaching my grand nieces and nephew, who are starting to ask to try these skills for themselves.
    ....Now, I will be better prepared to explain “why”
    (Because they love to know “how”
    and “why”)!
    ....You seem so nice, and good at explaining things, You remind me of my favorite teacher!....

    This was SO helpful (I say 3 years later)! I never understood why so many of my eyelet settings (or squashings) failed. I am so happy I stumbled across your video because I haven't seen ANY video which that explains things as well as you have! I didn't know about the little pre-cuts on the part of the eyelets that help it open up evenly and neatly. Now I know what to look for. I do have the wider WRMK, although they are still 3/16", but I didn't have the smaller ones. Thank you so much! Oh, and I'm actually wondering why, on my Big Bite instructions, they're calling them "gromlets" not "grommets."

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  6 месяцев назад

      Sometimes companies rebrand their own version of a supply, especially if they alter it in some way. Gromlets is their own version. Thanks for watching. Check out the eyelet videos I have linked under this one, too. :)

    I too am so appreciative you post this video and the video how to use the Big Bite tool. I recently picked up a Big Bite at a garage sale but instructions were long gone. There are these bigger eyelets with them, not sure of the name, but they are in your clear case on this video. Do you have a video showing how you attach those? I've tried and have not succeeded so maybe if I see it once it would make sense. Thank you so much. You explain things so well.

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  4 года назад +1

      They are wide eyelets by WRMK. The hole size is the same as the 3/16" eyelets and use the same settings. ruclips.net/video/-S48_hQGOtQ/видео.html This shows some ways I have used the wide eyelets, and I have links under both videos on where they are in my shop.

    This was so informative. I have the crop a dile and didn't get instructions either. I honestly didn't know what yo put the cubes in i got some tiny ones and I shouldn't have, because I didn't know how to set up the cubes I ended messing up the side that's blank. It made me mad cause this is not cheap. So when you mentioned replacing the cubes I might just do that i don't like to have something that I take care get ruined so if I can replace it I'll feel better. Thank you i was afraid of asking as to not sound stupid on how to use that tool that's like my fourth we the memory keeper's tool that I have a nd I love them all. A o thank you again I needed this so much. I've ordered better quality eyelets which I'll be getting 9/24 can't wait to start using it.

    Thank you so much! I never thought to go search for instructions for the crop a dile. I have the original. The instructions were lost years ago and the print was so small, I couldn't read them anyways. LOL. I don't use eyelids very often anymore, But the crop a dile is is an essential when you do need to use them. I do still have something similar to what you had, to whack a metal hole punch with a hammer into a small cut mat, then doing the same with the tool to splay open the back of the eyelet, cuz that's what we had back in the day. I was wondering how the big bite punched the holes, so thank you for showing that.

      thanks for watching! I use the Crop-a-dile for more than just eyelet setting, since it punches holes through thicker materials.

      @@LollyPalooza yes, I always grab it if I need a hole punched. It still works fine, but when I got it, a million or so years ago, folks were saying it will punch through a penny. Partly to explain how amazing it was & avoid 1,000 "will it punch through this? What about this? Partly to see how many more folks they could get to punch through a penny lol. I had a teenage son, & I've always been 1/2 kid myself, so if course we had to try it. Yes, we defaced U.S. Currency. It did punch through with relative ease, but one of those Penny punchings nicked a piece of one side of the part that punches. But as I said, it still works fine.

    14:14 Got my Crop-A-Dial and was experimenting; had an issue with this at try No: 4 on what I now realize is thinner cardstock than my three prior tries. The eyelet kind of moved up the setting shaft and got stuck. Made a mangle and thought I'd broken the tool already. Took me a while to get the tool separated from the eyelet and it didn't do well in the paper. So this paper "thin-ness" was actually the issue, not my blacksmith's hands technique (possibly lol). I have broken more than one brand new tool (unrelated to papercraft) before. Should have been employed as a tester in factories...If there's a weakness I'll find it. Or if it will get a consumer confused, that's me. Thank you SO MUCH for showing close ups and carefully explaining what the instructions failed to do. They gave the salient points but the markings on the cubes are so hard to see with eyesight that isn't 20/20 that it was frustrating. I do note that the eyelet settings on the cubes match in metal colour, so that is actually a bit helpful. Perhaps the makers of the crop a dial could actually differentiate those colours even more; black on top and bottom for speciality eyelets, bright pink for 3/16ths, orange for 1/8th and so on so that each corresponding face of the cubes matched the bases...because the letters and numbers are almost invisible for sight impaired.

    • @Kayenne54
      @Kayenne54 Год назад +1

      @@LollyPalooza Tried again just now and realized I've had two issues. Somehow kept touching the lock key, and that helped with "stuck eyelet" syndrome. But your video and the "thinner paper" was what helped me sort it out most. Also following your idea to set it "upside down" or shank/finger on the down side; that way I can rest the tool on the table rather than in mid air and the eyelet and paper line up better. So it was your problem solving that helped. I'm just a klutz!

    Thanks. This really helped me. I was trying to put eyelets into fabric and was having problems. I was having trouble keeping it in the tool long enough to squeeze it shut. I think part of the problem is because I'm left handed - maybe putting it on the bottom will help. The other issue is that I wanted to use a washer on the other side and that kept falling off. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep the washer in place?
