So helpful. I have a mix of supplies from various garage sales/thrift stores. I couldn't figure out how to tell what size to use and why sometimes the eyelet didn't curl over. But now I see it is because I didn't know there was a mix of eyelets and grommets and grommet backings. Thank you so much for your clear explanation!
Laura, As always, you've given such an easy, clear explanation when I needed it most. Thank you!! I have a really old (at least 40) Plier Kit for grommets and eyelets with no instructions. I need to add extra eyelets to an elasticized belt with a buckle because I've lost weight. Thanks so much for making my project easy with your practical video solution to my problem!
Thank you! I just bought eyelet pliers today but I see from your video they can be used for placing grommets too. And now I know the difference between the two!
yes indeed I agree with the other viewer Pam Hatch....you are wonderful in explaining and showing on how to use these products. thank you so much for your time and explanation!!
Thank you so much Laura, I really enjoyed your tutorial. It’s one of those things that you need to be shown. You as always have given us a great tutorial..
Thank you so much!! I went through several videos before this one, and destroyed two eyelets in the learning process (luckily I have 50 of them, and an abundance of text fabric, so no big loss) but the way you explained finally made sense! Thank you so much! Now I'll be able to finish my friend's gift in time for the Renaissance Festival no problem, you're an absolute life saver!
Thank you so much!! I accidentally got my eyelet stuck onto my pliers because I had it back to front! Iended up having to Rip apart my handmade tag which I'd also already lettered and embossed, then spent almost an hour trying to tear the eyelet off the ♟ bit! Such clear instructions and visual references! Thank you!!!
Dear Laura, you saved me with this tutorial! I'm doing a quiet book for my grandson and just thought how to skip the grommit thing. Now I'm not worried any longer. Thanks a lot!
Oh thank you! I have the pliers and a bag of Groner’s that was given to me but I had no idea how to use them!!! I love your practical videos! Thanks!😉👍🏼
Great video. I'm a complete novice. I have a 3-ring scrapbook that I want to use them for. The pages are a heavy cardboard. Could you please tell me whether a grommet or an eyelet would be better for that material? Thank you.
This was a very clear explanation, but my eyelets came with flat thin rings and I didn't see you use those. I want to put eyelets in a fleece vest that the zipper has broken on. I removed the zipper and I will install the eyelets to change the style to a laced vest. Thank you!
Thank you so much for explaining how to install eyelets and grommets Im new at learning and was not sure how to use the tools and pieces correctly but I understand it clearly and can now know which is best for what project based on how it looks on the back side and if it matters or not based on finished presentation. Thank you so much for sharing 🤗
Thank you for a clear video! I have a pair of eyelet setting plyers and I misplaced the directions for them. I've been avoiding them since I couldn't remember how to use them lol.
Great video! I have never used them before and I want to put a grommet on a fabric gift tag so I can thread a piece of string through. What size would you recommend I purchase? Thank you :)
Thanx for the tutorial, but i was wondering what are the flat rings that sometimes come in the packs for? I assumed to make the back side neater as im not a fan of the metal splitting appearance on the back side of work and it can be sharp how can i avoid this? And how do i use the flat rings?
Hi Laura I make wooden plaques. For instance .... hanging hearts. They are made of mdf and already have the holes in them. The holes are usually 3 or 4mm thickness. I would like to use the eyelets to make the holes look neater. Can I ask what size eyelets I would need and also if it is possible to use these in mdf? Many thanks Sue
What a blessed timing you have - I am to install them for someone and I didn't know where to even start. THANK YOU!!! Blessed Holidays & Merry Christmas!!!!d Eve A Ward
Hello, thanks for this informative video. Tired of doing research! Now, can you please tell me where I can get some grommets and washers and little tools? Getting desperate. Tried pliers tool (not the one in your video) which didn't budge the eyelets I had. 😪 Thank you!
What about grommeting on fabrics that are lighter than a heavy canvas. I typically see a square reinforcement or interface fabric on my sweatpants where the string goes. How do I add this component?
Thank you Laura for explaining this so well. I found in my late mom's sewing kit a little rectangular brass plate which I think is to set eyelets. It's 1/2" X 2" and it has PRYM stamped on it. Also is a round nob that says "top attaching tool" by it and a little round sharp hole that says "top hole punch." It says: 1/2" , 3/4" with a little line by each measurement. Making the hole is obvious but the attaching part is not working for me. The little nob is convex on one side and concave on the other. Perhaps you've seen these before. Am I missing a piece to this puzzle or did I not hit it hard enough with the hammer? I also wonder if it's for different size eyelets than the ones I have which are quite small and don't say the size but do say: Kurio 914063. Thank you.
I have 2 sets of pliers and have lost those yellow adapters on both pair. I have so many eyelets and snaps and no way to install maybe I can keep up with a hammer.. lol
Hi, I have a question. Is there a significant difference in the size of the posts? I just bought a set of 100 grommets of different colors and all the posts seem to be the same height. The tool also looks different from the one you used. Can I still use them, or did I waste my money?
thanks. i have tons of dif grommets and snaps from hand me down stuff. each tool is dif there are 2 pliers i had . i had no idea you can switch the pliers about ot use coudlnt figure it out when i needed too as there were no instructions. you cant imagine seeing a tol you hammer and a pliers in a bag. I thought you had to sue both somehow:) I never used one so thanks for sharing
Do the pliers provide more consistent or neater results than the hammer? Most people already have a hammer, but specialty pliers would be worth it if they produce better results.
You explain nicely a nice demo to see. Also your voice is not fast and your nails looks good whilst demonstrating. Some ppl have dirty nails or hangnails which is not a nice thing to see.
This is by far the most clear, concise explanation of these two items I have ever encountered! THANK YOU!
Dang, finally someone who can demonstrate this where I understand it, lol! THANKS!!!

I cannot believe I was so terrified of these things! Thank you!! Triple thank you for saying the size you used! Exact size I needed!
Thank YOU , Laura. I just got a grommet kit---alas---NO DIRECTIONS!! YOUR video, with your calm voice and step by step procedures, were what I needed!

Hello Laura What an exceptional tutorial. Thank you so much. You have explained everything so incredibly well. Just lovely.
Thank you! I just bought eyelet pliers today but I see from your video they can be used for placing grommets too. And now I know the difference between the two!
Thanks so much!! I always get these two confused. Your video is very clear & informative.
Thank you! Have looked everywhere for this and have found I am back at one of my best channels! Phew
The best explanation I have seen so far! Thank you!!
yes indeed I agree with the other viewer Pam Hatch....you are wonderful in explaining and showing on how to use these products. thank you so much for your time and explanation!!
Thank you 🖤 no tailor or seamstress around me would add grommets to my 90’s lip service corset top so I had to do them myself
Your an absolutely wonderful teacher, thanks a million!
Thank you so much Laura, I really enjoyed your tutorial. It’s one of those things that you need to be shown. You as always have given us a great tutorial..
Hallelujah! A light showing the way. LOL Thanx, great tutorial Laura!
I just bought an eyelet kit with tool. Glad I saw your video. Very detailed and clear instructions. Thank you.

Thank you for this informative video. Do I need stainless steel grommets for use in a garment that will be washed?
Dear Laura,
you saved me with this tutorial! I'm doing a quiet book for my grandson and just thought how to skip the grommit thing. Now I'm not worried any longer. Thanks a lot!
oh thank you so much! i ordered a dress that was much too big and used this video to help me take it in :)
Oh thank you! I have the pliers and a bag of Groner’s that was given to me but I had no idea how to use them!!! I love your practical videos! Thanks!😉👍🏼
*grommets
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I really needed to know how to use these in a hurry and your tutorial did just that. Many thanks.
I was never sure of the difference between an eyelet and a grommet - now I know - thanks :)
Best tutorial I watched . Thank you for a great job.
Great video. I'm a complete novice. I have a 3-ring scrapbook that I want to use them for. The pages are a heavy cardboard. Could you please tell me whether a grommet or an eyelet would be better for that material? Thank you.
Thank you for the refresher course! I have a small repair job to do and this is so helpful to remember how to do the grommet/eyelet thing!
Excellent explanation 👌............thank U so much, some of the videos I've watched don't explain grommets n eyelets and nicer backs using WASHERS!
This was a very clear explanation, but my eyelets came with flat thin rings and I didn't see you use those. I want to put eyelets in a fleece vest that the zipper has broken on. I removed the zipper and I will install the eyelets to change the style to a laced vest. Thank you!

I just bought a grommet kit.... I think I made the better choice. I like the finish of the grommet better.
Thank you for a clear video! I have a pair of eyelet setting plyers and I misplaced the directions for them. I've been avoiding them since I couldn't remember how to use them lol.
You have such such a lovely voice :) thank you very clear instructions.
Thanks Laura great tips for making my own clothing line brand for my business
As always a brilliant video.. thanks for making and explaining the difference.
Thank you! I bought used grommet setting tools (the kind you hammer) and didn't know how to use them!
Great video! I have never used them before and I want to put a grommet on a fabric gift tag so I can thread a piece of string through. What size would you recommend I purchase? Thank you :)

Sometimes I do find the backs are a little sharp, A nail file can help take off those burs
Thank you for this video, I am now more sure of what to do when I come to the grommet or eyelet, I did not know the difference before.

Good idea but I do not know that answer.
Thanks for this video! I was trying to figure out how to put grommets on my new gazebo cover. I have no idea why the grommets are not on the corners?
Beverly McGhee that’s exactly why I am watching !!
Laura, I've often wondered how they fit the rubber grommets for headphones into fabric; is this the same principle?
Great, clear, and detailed explanation!! ❤️❤️
What a blessed timing you have - I am to install them for someone and I didn't know where to even start. THANK YOU!!! Blessed Holidays & Merry Christmas!!!!d Eve A Ward
Merry Christmas Eve
I have used grommets a few times. Great video!!
I felt like she was reading me a children story 😆
Thank you! I had to install some grommets and your video was a great help!
Excellent teaching. Great. Thanks a lot.
Thanks. I've always wondered how those go together.
Hello, thanks for this informative video. Tired of doing research! Now, can you please tell me where I can get some grommets and washers and little tools? Getting desperate. Tried pliers tool (not the one in your video) which didn't budge the eyelets I had. 😪 Thank you!
That's 4mm grommets and washers I'm after.
A really excellent explanation. Thank you.
I need a suggestion on how to install on stretch swimwear.
The fabric always pulls right out.
Thank you

can you go to my Facebook and post a picture
Thank you for explaining how to make the hole. It's driven me coocoo bananas making the holes.
Where can i find these pliers?
Can you use the eyelet or grommet kit for latex rubber. Say...a Halloween mask
I have 2 sets of pliers and have lost those yellow adapters on both pair. I have so many eyelets and snaps and no way to install maybe I can keep up with a hammer.. lol

I have also seen post of different sizes. That leads me to think that it up to the company who makes them. You should be fine but please test first
Thank you. straight to the point. Liked
Thank you, your video's explain it all very well and clearly.
My grommet hole is very sharp on the wrong side, making it impossible to feed material through without tearing or snagging it. What do I do?
thanks. i have tons of dif grommets and snaps from hand me down stuff. each tool is dif there are 2 pliers i had . i had no idea you can switch the pliers about ot use coudlnt figure it out when i needed too as there were no instructions. you cant imagine seeing a tol you hammer and a pliers in a bag. When the eyelet back gets rolled over it looks sharp, is there any tips to make it a little safer? Or should I just go for the grommets?
I like grommets for that very reason
Explained so well.
Thanks for a great tutorial.
What do you do when the tool that makes the hole gets dull over time?
Thank you for the great tutorial!
Very helpful. I needed this video.

I like the pliers, that way I can use them anywhere!
depending on where you place them.... I'm doing them on a wide brimmed hat and the pliers would not reach.
good one-informative & short!
Wonderful explanation. Thank you.
Great job on showing how thank you
Thank you very easy to learn.
Great video! Thank you!
You explain nicely a nice demo to see. Also your voice is not fast and your nails looks good whilst demonstrating. Some ppl have dirty nails or hangnails which is not a nice thing to see.
I want to add grommets to the corners of my down comforter. Will I need to reinforce the fabric? I want to tie the duvet strings through them.
I would add a little interfacing to the fabric just as extra insurance
Ok thank you! Do you think I should add it to both sides of the corner?
@@TheBacardiPrincess I would 👍
I appreciate your help... I was looking all over for some insight. I was worried it would be too thick if I did it to both sides.
I have used the hammer version, not always successful and very hard to hit down... The pliers is a better tool for the job in my way of thinking LOL
Super helpful. Thank you.
Useful, but I would have preferred to see how much force is actually needed to set the grommet/eyelet.
i like your style
Tku so much. Good, clear explanation.
Thanks, this was really a help.
Thanks for posting. Great information.
Very detailed..I needed that thnx
Hey Ms. Laura. Needed this
Thank you very much Laura. 😎🌸
This is very helpful! Thank you!
Thanks , very helpful
Thanks, Laura!
Thank you so much for this video!!!
They may be easy to install, but I worry about the thickness of the fabric.
Great! Thank you so much.
Is 1 stronger than the other..
Thank you ❤
Thanks 🙏!
Thank you for sharing.
thanks soooo much
Thank you
