"...you can try again for the same dollar!" LOVE your attitude!
Hi 🙋‍♀️ Funny how my mind works... a person would've thought I discovered a cure for... I dunno, a world wide virus or something (OK, I thought I had)when I decided there HAD to be a way to make my own tearing ruler. ...I mean 18 bucks plus shipping for a messed up piece of metal? C'mon! So since the rulers I've seen have all been metal, surely what I was going to make had to be metal as well. And the only way to chip or somehow slightly distort metal was with more metal. Hmm... 🤔 A saw! Yes, that was it, a saw. Although I've gotten metal rulers at the Dollar Tree before, I couldn't find any on my recent shopping trip, and since if the Dollar Tree doesn't sell it it doesn't exist in my world, my tearing ruler project (you know, the one that was gonna turn the crafting world on it's head? ...yeah, that one) was gonna have to wait. Somehow today I stumbled onto your video and 🤦‍♀️ I don't know if I'm more embarrassed or grateful. It's not the first time I've come up with a once-in-a-lifetime idea that people have been doing for years. 🙄 I trust you see the humor in all this. 🤭😄😅🤣
Anyway, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for sharing this. Your directions are crystal clear and your rulers are beautiful... think ill I'll go make some 😁! With gratitude from the Southern California desert, MK ❤🌞🌵

What fun! Very therapeutic to wantonly destroy a ruler edge. I have a Tim Holtz ruler that I accidentally nicked the edge of, it sits accusingly on my desk unused since I replaced it; now I know what to do with it. Thanks

oh this is brilliant! I've been wanting one for a long time, found one on ebay and I don't like it at all. Was less expensive than amazon but still sad I spent the money on it. This is amazing and I can make it the way I want it! Thanks, so simple!

Awesome idea! Thanks, I haven't been able to find my purchased deckle edge since I moved and didn't want to spend a lot for a new one. Hopefully I can find that type of ruler or similar at Dollar Tree and make my own. I like the self made edge better than the purchased one, too!

This is so cool. When I saw one of your videos for the first time, I was like...WHAT A COOL RULER. My Amazon searches were full of "ruler with wavy edge" and such. lol. I'm so glad you shared this! It's like customized and no two rulers would be the same. Neato.

I need to make one of these!! I’ve looked for the nice metal one but it’s just in U.K. and too expensive for me. Fiskars makes one, but I don’t like the edge. I am going to make one because I know I will use it a lot. TFS! ❤️❤️

I put some cardstock on the back of the tear edge of aluminum foil or plastic wrap. It tears very nicely too.

I tried that, but the sharpness of it and no place to put it up protected made me decide that one was not for me. Blessings

This is great! I never thought of making my own year rulers. I have the We R Memory Keepers set of tear rulers and I only ever use one of the edges. I use them more for making tassels than tearing.
