Fun Fact: The song is about the ebony (black) and ivory (white) keys on a piano, but also deals with integration and racial harmony. The title was inspired by McCartney hearing Spike Milligan say, "Black notes, white notes, and you need to play the two to make harmony, folks!"

Yes we do. I don't want to not see color. I want a world where we all recognize different cultures and colors, and embrace them. We don't need to all be the same, that would be boring. I want Indian food, I want Ethiopian food, I want greasy spoon white guy diner food, I want Mexican food, I want authentic Chinese food, I want sushi. The same goes for music. Variety is the spice of life. I don't want all of us to be the same, I just want all of us to be equal. If you want everyone to assimilate to one culture, you are missing out on so much awesomeness that other people can offer you. We are all different, but we are all the same. One love.

I love this song. Just listen to the lyrics of this song. They're such beautiful lyrics. Although I hadn't listened to this song in a great while, I started crying. Just like the question of "Why can't we all just get along?"...the keys on either a synthesizer or a piano. They get along just fine, but not people of color. We're not that different. We bleed the same color.
IQ differences and all kinds of resentment (over slavery, Apartheid, the Holocaust, the Crusades etc.) make the situation way more complex than the keys on a piano or the color of our blood. Here's to the moment we finally realized that we are in this together and this is exactly what needs to happen. For we do not battle with flesh and blood but we wage war with powers and principalities in high places!
So remember to wield that double edged sword of truth and put on all of the armour of God, trust & have faith in your God and just do the next right thing!
Much Love
Can't believe that this is still contemporary in 2020... beautiful song
Not true your honor! I have never even heard of paul McCartney’s version. Black puppy white puppy is a song i wrote by myself on my piano keyboard!
Damn you! You beat me to it!🤣🎹
That's how I learned this song exist.
I’m a HUGE Beatles/McCartney fan and have been since I was a little kid so I’m definitely familiar with this song. But when I watched that new South Park (my favorite show of all time) I almost cried laughing when the amazing black puppy white puppy started. Also the way randy says “pyeeano” was perfect.

You had ta dintcha 😂😂😂 - what exactly was the officer problem you were trying to solve?😀😀😀
With everything that's going on in the world, people should stop for a minute and listen to this song and the words carefully ❤
We're all flesh colored.
A desigualdade racial nunca deveria existir.
😊❤👍
This song was drummed into me by Mum at the age of 7 when it was released.
I've carried it throughout my life and passed it onto my children and can only hope that they will do the same.
I woke up today with this song in my head. Thank you God for creating Paul and Stevie.

The only song my dad asked to be played at his funeral.

Estamos fu...Fu.
Hey! No mention of brown in this song!
Boa tarde
Such a good message and such a great song!!! We should live in harmony, side by side. :)

Ah meus tempos de colégio. Maravilha! Ouvir hoje é voltar maravilhosamente no tempo. Gratidão.

2:04 Fave moment of the song. The chorus humming in the background of Paul's voice.
I've always loved this song! Can Paul and Stevie please do a sequel to this for today?
They sang this song together again at the Kennedy Honors back in 2012

Excellent idea!
How about a new version for LGBTQ? Maybe how different kinds of chords can live together in harmony in my favorite music, why can't we?
One of my old time favorites nearly 40yrs on and we could all do with still listening to this and taking note. We are not the colour of our skin, we are all born of Adam thus we are all equal human beings 🌹
If only life could be like this the world would be a Better Place ❤
Hello 👋🏼 Shirley Booth
This song is so beautiful! It was such a beautiful and harmonious duet! Two beautiful voices and highly talented musicians/singers joined their forces and the result is a classic, timeless, and beautiful masterpiece! Bravo Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️

There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.
We need this right now
Do we?
@@Luvie1980 my thoughts exactly. There are spiritual and physical debts, from Minneapolis to the Middle Passage, for which reckoning and atonement must be rendered. It's not revenge, it's justice.
I’m just gonna leave this right here for you to ponder on. I hope you would at least do the right thing and at least try to prove me wrong.
National Academy Of Sciences conducted yet another study, where they concluded that for the year 2019:
9 unarmed black people were shot & killed by Police
19 unarmed white people shot and killed by the Police
Totaly agree!
One love.
And what a great song that is sung by two of the greatest men in music!! It will be a very sad day when we lose these two gentlemen. I couldn’t remember this song At a very Nice jazz club I used to go to back and 82.‘ Lee Rittenour, Peabo Bryson, just to name a few we’re all staples at this club and it was wonderful. How I missed those days!
I truly believe that Stevie Wonder doesn’t see skin color
I see what you're saying. Good one.
Yup Christie took the words out of my mouth. Good one!
You’re my hero 🤣

Hello 👋🏼 Ana Maria
Love the song. Especially when it goes into double time.
2022 still hearing this right now I've been hearing it since I was 7 years old back in the day amen God bless the family
The message of this song should apply today in these troubled times. So sad that people have turned against each in the name of politics and religion.
This a song that we’ll never forget and we should to live like brothers in Peace!!
❤️❤️🙏🙏💕💕😘😘😘
THIS SONG WAS BIG. I was Seven at The Time Probably playing PAC-MAN AND DONKEY KONG. Paul McCartney Was On Demand. I Think Right After this Came Him And Michael Jackson The Girl is Mine.
I was six 😂
I remember my babysitter playing it on the stereo.
I was 11 and played it non stop on my little portable record player ,
Loved this song when I was a kid. ♥️
OMG that's so funny. I was 14 and doing the same thing. Pac-man and donkey kong were the two top video games of the day. I so remember those days. Fantastic.
I was kid living down in Phoenix,in the second grade when this classic came out. My father never had the record or tape, but I use to hear it on the car radio a lot. Great fond memories.
At the same time I was listening to this timeless tune where I grew up; in Reykjavik, Iceland 🇮🇸
Yup I was in kindergarten. Good ole 1982

My favorite song during high school days
My mom loved this song when I was a kid and my sister and I loved the hook! This song needs to be reintroduced in the United States!!!
An old classic my late father liked a lot, especially as a huge fan of The Beatles, and appreciating Stevie Wonder a lot too. R.I.P. dad.
This brings back memories of when i was 7. Loved the video and the song.
This is so true we don’t need to be against each other, like the piano keys ebony and ivory why can’t we be in perfect harmony?
It's nothing to do with colour and everything to do with culture.
@@iminyourhead9936
It has nothing to do with culture, and everything to do the ⚫️ & ⚪️ keys on a "piano keyboard" 🎹, how they "live together in perfect harmony side-by-side," and the question of "why don't we," as ppl, do the same thing.
Hello 👋🏼 Kelley Pendergraft
IQ differences and all kinds of resentment (over slavery, Apartheid, the Holocaust, the Crusades etc.) make the situation way more complex than the keys on a piano or the color of our blood. At some point people are going to separate again because this 1982 dream is never going to come true. It's been a disaster and things only got worse, all the way up to the present day.
My first acquaintance with with Paul McCartney when hearing this song in 1982 on my friend’s record player. Been a huge fan ever since. I love Stevie Wonder too.
Absolutely fantastic song and always will be ❤❤❤
