I absolutely love this song. I don't understand how anyone would have a problem with any part of this song. The music itself, the voices of Mr. Wonder and Mr. McCartney, and most of all, the lyrics which speak of peace and harmony. What a beautiful song!

    Fun Fact:
The song is about the ebony (black) and ivory (white) keys on a piano, but also deals with integration and racial harmony. The title was inspired by McCartney hearing Spike Milligan say, "Black notes, white notes, and you need to play the two to make harmony, folks!"

Eric the racism, segregation and discrimination is in the air. Is in everywhere, any country. As species we are too territorial. Someone in your family or in my family is telling us every day every minute to hate every person that has strange colors in the whole world. Isn’t just white and black. I’m a black male but my family was middle class long ago so we were well educated. My family lived among white neighborhoods and I remember my father telling me “ don’t meet people from the low lying life area and also the whites. So the problem cross from father to son. Luckily for me I broke the chain but causing a lot damage in the family prides. I married with a white woman and I have 2 children but my father never likes her and my daughter. My father died and never asked for his niece. She’s 23 right now .

    *Ebony and Ivory*
    [Chorus]
    Ebony and ivory
    Live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard
    Oh Lord, why don't we?
    [Verse]
We all know that people are the same where ever you go
There is good and bad in everyone
And we learn to live, we learn to give each other
What we need to survive together alive
    [Chorus]
    Ebony and ivory
    Live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard
    Oh Lord, why don't we?
    [Bridge]
    Ebony, ivory
    Living in perfect harmony
    Ebony, ivory, ooh
    [Verse]
We all know that people are the same wherever you go
There is good and bad (Mm, hmm) in everyone
We learn to live when we learn to give each other
What we need to survive together alive

I can imagine why the woke left hate the song: it encourages co-existence, rather than getting ivory abolished, punished, subjugated. The woke probably see a "micro-aggression" in every line of the song. "People are the same wherever you go." That's like saying "All lives matter."

I want Indian food, I want Ethiopian food, I want greasy spoon white guy diner food, I want Mexican food, I want authentic Chinese food, I want sushi. The same goes for music. Variety is the spice of life. I don't want all of us to be the same, I just want all of us to be equal. If you want everyone to assimilate to one culture, you are missing out on so much awesomeness that other people can offer you. We are all different, but we are all the same. One love.

Just like the question of "Why can't we all just get along?"...the keys on either a synthesizer or a piano. They get along just fine, but not people of color. We're not that different.
