- Franklin Joseph "Frankie" Lymon (September 30, 1942[5][6] - February 27, 1968[7]) was an American rock and roll/rhythm and blues singer and songwriter, best known as the boy soprano lead singer of the New York City-based early rock and roll group The Teenagers. The group was composed of five boys, all in their early to mid-teens. The original lineup of the Teenagers, an integrated group, included three African-American members, Frankie Lymon, Jimmy Merchant, and Sherman Garnes; and two Puerto Rican members, Joe Negroni and Herman Santiago. The Teenagers' first single, 1956's "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," was also their biggest hit. After Lymon went solo in mid-1957, both his career and that of the Teenagers fell into decline. He was found dead at the age of 25 on the floor of his grandmother's bathroom from a heroin overdose.[8] His life was dramatized in the 1998 film Why Do Fools Fall In Love. - wikipedia

One thing that people overlook about the Teenagers and Frankie is that they were not trained and formed by professional talent agents and voice therapists. They didn't have choreographers. They did all that themselves. They created the group and the songs by just singing together on street corners and hallways practicing. This is pure talent in raw form.
Very well said sir.
They were well loved by many households. Especially Frankie because he was so young and talented.
His story ended so sad but he left us some beautiful music. RIP Frankie Lymon God bless him.
I hate how everyone ignores the other group members. Frankie was talented, but the others helped propel he's talent. They must be recognized for that atleast.
That's just how the cards are dealt while being in groups. Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Patti LaBelle. It's endless. Very seldomly do people acknowledge the other members when the lead captures the most attention.
Culture club, even though I love Boy George 💞
@@JaySmith-mz7vgexcept for the temptations
Okay, so who were they? Name them all and tell me about their careers. Don’t cheat by using google!
He was so greatly talented it's sad what the music industry did and continues to do to people.
Did the music industry force the heroine on him?
@@joewhitehead3 Not at all but the pressures of the music industry to continuously produce and the Acsessabilty to a successful artist to destroy themselves with drugs and alcohol is all to common even with young artist.
A lot of people have stress and they don't turn to smoking, alcohol, drugs. No one forced the heroin into his veins That's on him
@@blogshagify Riiiight, only stars like Johnny Depp can have multiple addictions & be excused
@@blogshagify Ignorance is bliss
So sad what happened to this legend of music. May his soul rest in peace. No one can ever hurt you again sir. 💔
Right 😭

The voice, the smile, the dance steps, and especially hand movements mastered at his age.
The record company enticed him to go solo, thereby severing family ties w/the Teenagers. I believe that was a huge source of pain and heartache for him. They all grew up together as brothers. 🦋
Is it strange that when I imagine all the hate he faced in his life and how it led to his death, that it physically hurts my heart.
Resonates with Michael Jackson 's life
Exactly.
Where? What hate? You mean you can’t die from a drug overdose just because you can afford to buy them? Elvis died from drugs too. They hated him?
Yo tears fill my eyes every time I think about watching his movie, never will be another F. Lymon
If we do not recognize this man, as one of the top 5 influential performers and social norm breaker, then everything y’all talking. Bout today is nonsense
he busted through barriers the likes of which we today do not know.
His TALENT made it so
HE encapsulated, white, Hispanic and black youth, strictly by talent
Here in LA, my Hispanic relatives give this man the utmost respect
we can do this together people, the music, the ideology , the forgiveness of those who do not hear, the epitome of music starts and stops with the talented no matter what color , race or creed they are
Let’s all show the world , we talented
People fail to realize he was a CHILD star who got taken advantage of. People just expected him to know better the devil sets traps no matter how much god blesses you the devil always wants you to fail when u have something great. He died so young and definitely was ahead of his time.
well put
Such a shame.
He was a inspiration for Michael Jackson love Anthony Fed ex lol
I agree with you… For it's a terrible thing not to know and don't know you don't know.

His voice was amazing
why are the groups of the past better than today they appear happy singing together.
WOW! What a talent. So, 10 years before little Michael Jackson, there already was a Michael Jackson, named Frankie Lymon. Everything old is new again.
I agree 100%!!!
I disagree 100% first mj had lived longer and gained more fame than frankie lymon
@@Ayden24KT there was way more discrimination against black people at that time
@@ignad2537 not a excuse I mean Sammy Davis and Diana Ross and other maintained a long career.
Frankie Lymon could kill MJ on stage as a teen, but he open the door for MJ. Because he showed kids could sell records and entertain as good as adults.
Yes I love Frankie Lymon, Rest In Peace! Like this if you love Frankie Lymon!

Michael xxxxxx love you❤ xxxxxx ElyXxxxxxxx
Heartbreaking story because he became AA heroin addict at the age of 12.
The Teenagers were one of the early successful adolescent R&B/Vocal groups and inspired NUMEROUS others across the country’s inner-cities.
For young urban people (especially Black Americans), singing or harmonizing on sidewalks, street-corners, in schools, basements, etc. were later generations’ versions of pastimes like rapping, street dancing, video games, doing social media challenges, etc.
Artists like Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson
The were duwop not R&B
@@ThouArtOfWar0724 There was no such thing as “Doo wop” back then. Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers were mainly labeled as R&B or sometimes Rock and Roll.
@@ThouArtOfWar0724 Correct. PBS used to have Doo Wop reunion specials. Very much part of the 1950's. Always brought memories. Notice how much when he sings Goody Goody and other songs he sounds doo wop. Harmony and rhythm.
It was definitely called doo-wop it was all over the Bronx New York and it was called doo-wop for a thousand percent fact
Rest In Peace Frankie Lymon sometimes you never get roses until you die.
I can listen for hours. Music was so much better back then.
Frankie could have been just as big a celebrity as an adult with his personality and talent! RIP Frankie! 🙏🏻
I loved his voice OLD school
Frankies voice is unique and stands out so much one of a kind. But at 3:31 i really love the teenagers harmony in the background
Frankie was one of the great early Rock and Rollers
Of the 1950s , great style, good dancing and showed class in his performances !
He was ONE OF A KIND!!!
NO HE WASN'T
HE WAS EVEN BETTER.
He was brilliant.
To be able to have witnessed the talented, and experience his gift of song was a blessing.
It's it so sad that the world missed out on the opportunity to experience real musical sound.
This was his gift to the world.
Frankie Lymon. American legend n icon.
we still miss you Frankie
I just remember waking up to his voice love his voice and thanks grandma
A real great talent I wish he was still alive
Along with two of the teenagers
@@paulbarber9599 the other guys are deceased 🤔
Awesome talent. Unique voice, stylish and commanded the stage. (R.I.P) my Brotha.....1~Luv
What a gift--watch through to see so many facets of the brilliant Frankie Lymon.
Man his voice was magical and the guys too soo nice
Killer live vocals. Thanks
I am 33 I can listen to these songs all day. 40s-70 music is wildly underrated
I had to watch. Such incredible talent, it’s terrible he wasn’t able to over come his demons.
he was introduced to an ADULT industry at an early age with no guidance!!!! that boy was just a boy not an adult similiar to what these entertainment industries are doin now and have been doin!!! dont be fooled!!!
@@Getemtone Good point. Do you think that it was a conspiracy to kill his career before it even started? It's like his soul is crying from the grave to be understood.
Antonio Pizarro I guess this is where I’m expected to go back and fourth with you. I said what I said. Be well stranger.
Imani Rashaad I know he died in his grandmother’s apartment
@ Such presence. Like Sammy Davis Jr. and Judy Garland. He was that good!
Great voice
What talent and a voice . Sadly gone
I love his voice.
Looking at this guy, it's hard for me to imagine him going through the events played out in the movie. 😔
Amazing talent!
Knew his brother Louie who had a group called the Teenchords very well we were good friends he lived in the shadows of his famous older brother .
It's a shame what happened to him. So sad. He was so talented😢😢😢.
And Frankie had 2 other Brothers, Howard the oldest and Timmy the youngest. And I forgot to say that Timmy was the 3rd brother of the Lymon Family, and yeah. Rest In Peace to The Lymons.
Thanks. I knew nothing about that. The domestic trivia. thought very little of in life, becomes, for those for a taste in whatever the subject happens to be, more and nore interesting, the more the whole truth becomes important, and without which, it can't be understood.
A polished and well rehearsed talent at such a young age.
Gracias muchas Frankie y a los dos puertorriqueños a tu lado Joe José Negroni y Herman Santiago . WOW..
The sweetest vocal of all time
the incomparable frankie lymon
I remember this song . 💕 This group was one of my favorites when I was in Jr. High
We loved ❤ Frankie Lymon!! Such singing talent!!RIP!

Pure talent here, thank you for posting.
what a great sound.
He is very handsome
Incredible talent
I don’t understand how grown woman fell for him, he always looked like a kid
Yea. It's a bit strange.

@@christmastree6817 What is so strange about it?
By that, I'm not agreeing with it, just that it's still as commonplace today, as it was back then...women sensed that he was about to be a "BIG" star, and wanted a piece of the stardom, and the star.
Today, they are affectionately called...cougars; while in law, it's pedophile.
@@justplainbrad7713 I just find it gross for adults to like kids like that...
@@christmastree6817 I'm not getting into a protracted conversation about it, but some of my darkest life moments were the result of adult(stranger) abuse at 3 1/2 yrs.
My feelings about child abuse are strong, and I wish the appropriate people would listen to my ways and means of reducing the happening...because I have them.
Just finished watching why do fools fall in love
Thank you for the beautiful voices and music Frankie and the Teenagers.
The M.C. is Frankie Laine, the man who sang the classic "Rawhide" TV show theme song.
His voice was everything
Shame he left us all to soon. Great talent
Pure Class. RIP Frankie.,
Unreal, amazing. I would like the total story of this kid.
Watch the movie
Sad story 😢
@@kingmcdonald6829 someone wants the full true story and you suggest watching a hollywood movie? solid...
Once again these videos are humbling. I thought I knew about him but I'm awed by what a great talent he was. What a stupendous
talent.!!
Frankie was so smooth ❤️💯
Truly blessed w a gift. Gone too soon
I was a young kid in the 1970s and I always knew who Frankie Lymon was. It might have been because my mother was a young'n during the height of his popularity but I dont remember ever not knowing who Frankie Lymon was. Diana Ross helped bring him to the attention of the younger generation of that time too by remaking "Why Do Fools Fall In Love."
Beautiful 🎶🎵
So darling...so talented. Will always love yaw.
Another great artist from the day
That boy can sang!!!❤
real singing wish music was still like this...shame how they did u
Dee Clark, the brother in the vocal group "Force M.D.s", Johnny Wilder, Johnny Mathis, Jackie Wilson and Frankie Lymon, are 6 of the most phenomenal "natural" tenors ever! @@@*** Sembene, in Chicago ***@@@
Thank you for the upload! My favorite record by them Juvenile Delinquent.
What stupendous talent! Thanks for making this available.
Never heard another like it since 🔥❤

How I wish I could travel back to the past.
Frankie Lymon IMPRESIONANTE TALENTO

Bro had swagga look at the way he played the cameras and stage naturally so no wonder he had the grown women it was like he couldn't help who he become and came...weird shit!.. Rip Da og Frankie lymon
Such a troubled young guy!😩♥️He was so talented it’s truly sad that the most wonderful artist fall to their own addictions I wish we could get an undramatized biography of Frankie Lymon he was clearly taken advantage of by they typical 50s/60s record labels and didn’t have the best parents. And despite the appearance on film he was sleeping with older women who had no business sleeping with a teenage boy!
So he was a victim of pedophilia ? Obviously .
Frankie's problems had absolutely nothing to do with his "older women." They didn't push heroin on him and were not pedophiles. It was his superstar exposure to drugs and unscrupulous management with little of Frankie's interests in mind. They ripped him off, used him, and left him with an unreliable reputation in the music business.
Hey miss , you pretty ❤️
@@jaquaveonandress649 thank you 😊
The movie about him barely scratched the surface. There was a good documentary "I Promise to Remember" about Frankie, made in the early 1980's. Sad.
Best I've ever see'n-so wonderful Franky - R.I.P. ✌☮
Frankie forever ❤️
Rip Franki Lymon🙏🏽✝️🕯🕊❤️...he was Brilliant 👏🏽 💯💯💯

Is there a Frankie Lyman life story online?
What a voice💯👏
Go Frankie go / go go go get it get it
In my opinion, this child's singing talent was much better than Michael Jackson as a child.
Definitely not nor dancing.
Not close but thanks for trying
I don’t need to try, is evident, done
His demise saddens my heart. The only influence he had around him was those who had mal intent. He was used by the industry and they killed him.
Hi edagdwg thanks for sharing this story of what happens when you think your in love God teaches us to be how we are going to be if that's what we want pay attention to what you do with your life pay attention to the girls you think you love them blinds j .peace ❤️💯💯💯 love wins peace ☮️☮️☮️☮️🌹
У этого человека был божий дар! Как бесконечно жаль,что этот талантливейший молодой человек не успел показать миру всё богатство своего таланта. Слишком рано ушёл он от нас…
A ending of one era, and a beginning of another,( I was born )
OMG listen to that voice
Absolutely a grand performance.
All those late great singers ,will all be in my heart and mind forever......leora
I bet this was Michael Jackson's fathers favorite band. When there were 5 singers together it looked like a early version of the Jackson's 5.
Most of the original "Teenagers" were Puerto Rican." 😊🇱🇷
I think two were only of Puerto Rican descent.
My parents loved him.
