I have the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line reconnected to the plenum at the end of the video when the fuel pressure gauge is not working, and I rev the engine. The engine will stumble if this left undone.

good luck. If you're doing a fuel pump, make sure it has the check valve in it. The AC Delco one does.

I bought a new fuel pump a few years ago but it only has around 5k miles if that don’t remember brand.. I’m loosing pressure just you was really fast. I also notice its leaking slightly from the schader valve Whats your thoughts on That?

@@carlbutler2080 The fuel pressure regulator is right there, its the circular component. has like 10 little tamper proof screws in it. Does it smell like gas in the intake, if you remove the air filter hose to the throttle body? I bet that is it.

appreciate the video. Followed your steps to determine I have a bad check valve in my pump. Nice to run across a video without a bunch of time wasting, unrelated storytelling. Thanks!

After buying air flow meter ignition module fuel pump fuel filter thank you so much she's running a little better got a miss but thank you for your advice fuel pressure is 38 steady

Awesome, I'm glad she is running better. You could look into the distributor cap and rotor, spark plug wires and spark plugs next to track down that miss fire. 1st thing to do is make sure none of the spark plug wires are touching anything hot and/or are shorting out against the exhaust manifolds, or the engine block. The car will have a full tune up after all of that. Good luck!
I never resolved all of the issues with mine. It would run rough sometimes right after starting if I didn't let it warm up. I sold it a few year ago.

Thanks for the vid, I'm losing pressure after priming and shutoff. FPR recently replace, fuel injectors recently cleaned and don't appear to leak when priming the pump, so testing the check valve is my next step.
Are those LCDs tinted blue? Never seen that shade. Also nice ladies on the wall lol

I installed a custom overlay for the dash. They sell them online. This was a few years ago. I never resolved the issue and sold the vette.

Hi, I've sold the car. I had to remove the gauge cluster and send it to this website where they swapped the bulbs to be LEDs. You can then pick the lens color for the gauges www.corvettemods.com/C4-Corvette-1984-1989-TrueColor-Dash-Cluster-Upgrade_p_10626.html

I'm glad I saw this video. As I've been having to hold the key down for like 5 seconds before my L98 C4 will start. Though it starts faster when warmed up. But I put a fuel pressure gauge on and I don't get much fuel pressure with key "on". Though I'll get pressure when cranking, and it idles at 38psi.
Years ago I put in a new fuel pressure regulator as the original one burst and leaked fuel into the vacuum line. And I put on an adjustable cap.
So I'm glad I saw this video as now I know there are special clamps for the hoses as I checked mine years ago and used vice grips with a piece of rubber on both jaws.
Do you know what size clamp that is? As I see they come in a kit of three different sizes. As I say I'd need at least two that works on these hoses so I can clamp both of them during the test.
If I end up needing to replace the fuel bump. I'll get a Delphi pump and Delphi strainer, as Delphi is a good brand and generally is OEM for GM.
I'll have to check around to see what all parts are needed like i.e. gaskets and other things. I've read of some people on that metal rod piece you pulled out, with them sanding something that I guess can get rusty. Don't know if you did that or not?
And I checked on that pulsator price and it's expensive at like $40. I'll have to check around on what effect it has when replacing that with a hose.

Good luck with it. Make sure the fuel pump has a check valve in it. Some do not have it inside, but still come up as "fitting" in the car.
I had to do this job again with an acdelco pump

@@PhoenixHavenGarage I'll take note of that. But I think I figured out my problem. I watched another video and I tested it today and I saw I don't get fuel pressure with key "on", but I do get it while cranking and I have 38psi at idle.
And so I've had problems with long cranks on a cold start. And I think my problem is a bad fuel pump relay. So I ordered a new one. Though I'll recheck after putting in the new relay, but I bet that's my problem.
Good thing I figured that out as I already replaced my battery figuring it was weak, and I had been thinking of having the starter replaced. Then I checked my fuel pressure and saw it at 0 on key "on" and knew it was a fuel problem and figured it was the fuel pump as I've never replaced it.
On the fuel pump, I'd go with Delphi as that's generally a good brand and has been an OEM supplier on various GM parts.
