    I'm excited that the trails will be quieter. I go into the woods to escape the noise of cities. Not to hear gas engines blasting through the woods.

    I bought a Kinetic for work and it is awesome. We have a large site and put in a trail to one satellite facility. It is super useful and convenient to throw tools and parts in and go to work.

    Wish they used NACS as it a more durable and reliable. Hopefully all future EV recreational vehicles will start using NACS moving forward.

Just wish we would have had the cab heater put in right off. The user manual is very good and explains how to treat an EV ATV.

    This is way way cool. As a tourist, this is exactly the vacay experience I look for at my destination. I Would NOT rent a gas vehicle like this. But electric? Heck Yeah! It would allow me to see more of the trails than I would on foot. This is like a self-guided trail ride with an electric horse. ❤❤❤

    18:51 "Ocean"?😁
    JK - my brother's family is in Houghton in the U.P., close (~50 mi) to Ontonagon, and after seeing Lake Superior in person, may as well be an ocean. That area is really scenic, & definitely enjoy visiting.

    Even without trails, I have been thinking of getting a Polaris just for running around the property and local area.
    If I can do that and recharge at the house rather than buying gasoline and lugging it to the vehicle in jerey cans, that's a definite bonus.

    Investment in Trail network Electrification is very important especially in places like the UPPER Peninsula area. The Mining industry shut down decades ago leaving an extremely depressed economic area behind. About all they have up there is Seasonal tourism. Lake effect snow makes it a bit of a mecca during winter months. With the added popularity of UTV’s these days, the seasons have transformed to year a round. Last winter was devastating to local businesses relying on snowmobile riders to visit their establishments and spend money in the area.

    The way I tend to see it, that bifacial panels make sense is an indication of how cheap solar panels have become, to the point where land is more of an issue than the cost of the panels, so that even though bifacial almost certainly makes the panels cost more $$ per watt, you get more power per hectare of land.

    Reaching out to a friend at Polaris that was involved with electric snowmobiles and may also be involved with this program. Love the idea of quite off roading! Do these have better performance than gas versions? Amazing the complicated nature of the charging network. Glad you are having fun together - like the out takes😂

    These types of side by side off road vehicles are becoming very popular. In a city gated community you may see people driving around in golf carts, In rural country areas, you see these off road vehicles. I can see the benefit of these being electric as now you don't have to deal with filling gas cans, bad fuel, treating fuel to prevent it from going bad, etc. With electric, just plug it in at your garage. Range isn't a huge deal as most people don't go that far on a daily basis anyhow.

    You need to be able to plug 🔌 in Solar to ATV, golf cart, ford lighting etc ford should have a option for Solar charging plug Solar right into battery 🪫 on the truck 🛻 even if it’s only 2,000 watts but I think 🤔 it should be two 5kw for a total of 10kw of Solar it would be great for off grid or over landing. Golf ⛳️ cart should just come with Solar on top as option.

    Free charging is wrong because it costs lots of money to maintain this system. If you don’t charge for energy used, charge an admission fee to use the trails. Not polluting the environment with an EV makes good sense.

      Entirely depends on who's funding it, & if voluntarily or not. If businesses and/or any other participants in that area are on board, and want that to promote objectives including but not limited to tourism, I'd commend that. But *if* imposed on taxpayers who don't get individual choice to buy in, that definitely would be a problem.

      They can use free charging to incentivize buying EV Polarises or other brands as they electrify. Imagine being able to stay out all day, for several days, just charge at close stations, no need to go and get gas.
      Plus some people could bring a battery and charge up at these stations and replace gas generators. Yes paying for electricity is the moral choice but getting more people off gas is a benefit in itself, less direct air pollution, not sure if that park lets you have gas generators though, sometimes they’re restricted.

    • @edmondsmith4259
      @edmondsmith4259 17 дней назад +1

      Yes, you're right they should have consulted you first before offering free charging in their pilot program...
      It is possible there are multiple ways we have not considered that offset the cost of offering "free" charging.

      Yup, was looking at purchasing here in Nova Scotia, not sure on Polaris’s business model for this product line, if was less than gas-powered equivalent could justify buying one for the property and maybe for a half-day trail run. Not sure how good it would be chained up and snow-plow. But I like the technology so will continue to follow.

    Why not add solar panels on the roof to charge the battery when it’s not on.

    • @the_locke_
      @the_locke_ 18 дней назад +1

      Probably because solar panels aren't very rugged and these off-road vehicles get pretty roughed up on the trails. They routinely scrape up against tree branches sticking into the trail, including from above, rocks getting tossed around by driving over them, etc. Then there's the added weight of the solar panel and inverter system eating into the efficiency, along with the small surface area of the roof which would only hold a small solar panel that won't generate much energy.

    • @Snerdles
      @Snerdles 17 дней назад

      It makes it top heavy, which is terrible for unstable surfaces. It would be very small and not add very much range. It would add weight which reduces the overall range. It would get dusty which would kill the output. You are going to be under tree over much of the time so it doesn't get direct sun. Off axis panels aren't very efficient.
      It makes so much more sense just to put the panels near a charge point in the woods.

  • @Snerdles
    @Snerdles 17 дней назад

    This seems to be one of the worst uses unless you have very known areas (like a rental company on known trails). You can't do things like bring an extra gas can and get a massive range boost. Charging on L2 for a 30kwh battery is going to take more than 3 hours, assuming it's even a 10kw charger, but it's probably 240v 32A (7.6kw).
