Appreciated the info on the autocross setup. Many of us always wonder the best areas to focus on after you slap on the sticky set of "Super 200" tires.
Smoking Porches: a porch where people smoke
To quote Dark Helmet, smoke'm if yea got'm. Now do it on your porch 😂
Ha sorry y’all! 😅
@@heyfrancie We're just playin' I see you fixed it already 😊
I love all racing. I don't care what you run. Fastest time wins.
It's cool to see the underdog win. Thing is you're not the underdog. They are.
A phenomenal look into this world!
19:42 - It really feel like a form of "ism" doesn't it?
"We really can't have a _________ win this..." (It would upset the boy's feelings of entitlement).
Thank you, Francie, Jerome, Jon and whomever else for organizing this!
It definitely feels like an, “ism” at times. Good point.
Edison Motors for onsite charging.
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth....
Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste
🙏🏻 😊 ✌ ☮ ❤
Porches?
Yes, those patio chairs and tables are really fast! 😊
An modified Electric F150 Lightning won King of the Mountain at Pikes Peak this year. At the start the Lightning stopped and the driver had to reset it and continue. He lost 18 seconds and still had the best time!
John you're awesome
Thanks! You’re not so bad yourself. 😊
I’m confused. Everyone knows that you flip a switch on the wall and you get instant light.
WHY don’t they believe that if you slam the gas pedal down you get INSTANT SPEED?
"Nobody wants to microwave a steak." Well, yours has coal dust and PACs on it, mine is prepared to perfection sous-vide and charred with an electric grill. 🤤🤤🤤
Interesting discussion, agreed the MY perf is a great shout but I would disagree about the Ionic 5 N, with that there are no issues with cooling so you don't have to compromise the laps for thermals! And that's just the stock car! Modded cars will smoke the current Teslas. I am NOT a fan of any brand. Just see Kyles vid on the 5N cars.
I do like the 5n better than the Y performance. But the 3 performance is still the king of sport EVs in my book! Over a 30 minute track session the Hyundai appears to handle the heat better but it’s still going to be slowing down with voltage sag and state of charge. If they start doing time trials events that are timed over 5 laps maybe I’ll want the Hyundai, but over a single flying lap or an autocross which are the kind of races they let street cars do I’ll still take the Tesla for sure! I’m excited to see a 6N.
Interesting topic on mooding EVs, would love to see someone making chip tune for Cupra Born ❤❤😊😊
Great podcast episode Francie with great guests keep up with great work and greetings from sLOVEnia 😂❤
Very similar experience to Jon here in the UK. I started Hill Climbing and Sprints (Road Course timed event) back in 2020 in A Model 3 Performance. Initially many problems getting in to events - no trained marshals, fire “issues” etc. Finally got my first event in July 2020 at Shelsley Walsh (oldest hill climb course in the world) Podium level performance against the 4 wheel drive any capacity class. Similarly on my local road circuit - Castle Combe. Did my first event there in 2022, but without any testing there as EVs were not allowed on track days. Only EV there, but performance was such that for the next year they put me in the largest engine standard class. Can’t win it in the dry as there is a Porsche 911 Turbo that I can’t yet beat. However, last year we had a wet event, and I beat him then! Still having entry problems with some circuits, but I have just swapped my car in for the new Model 3 Performance, and I am hoping that the suspension and extra power will put me on a par with him. Just like Jon I had upgraded suspension and brakes on the old car, and it’s kinda nice to be back in a more comfortable car on the road again!
That’s awesome. I really want to get into hillclimb racing, there aren’t any anywhere near me but there is a small series about 900 miles away that I would like to try out. I do have a friend that runs with them in a model 3 on Hoosier slicks and is often the car to beat.
3 tracks near me have banned EVs based on “safety” aka Insurance
That may be the reason they're giving, but it's more likely they don't want to upset owners of expensive customized gas cars that are their primary customer base by having a family car based EV consistently beat them.
@@jamespaul2587 One track I was told directly by the track manager it was because they don’t have the training and equipment to deal with a possible EV fire if there is a crash. Since they cant mitigate risk they can’t allow them on track due to insurance. Which is ironic because a place nearby had a massive wreck (rx8 race car) which started a fire ( the driver was killed on impact) they couldnt contain the fire with extinguishers and no appliance on site. Local airport responded and the crew was reprimanded as it was local FD call… even though airport firehouse was 20seconds away.
If I had a race track I certainly would be training my staff to deal with EV accidents also would have charging on site. Same track I mentioned the nearest charging is a 15 min drive in each direction
The one place locally that allows them is sorta a free for all type track with no real emphasis on basic safety. The tarmac is beat to shit and will cord a set of tires within 4-5 20 min sessions
Bunch of BS
@@jamespaul2587 Well at least they can make an EV league that way it'll be more competitive.
Motorsports always have classifications so like are racing like and everyone at least in theory has a chance of winning. F1 cars aren't running nose to nose with Touring cars, or NASCAR or WRC.
It's going to take a while to figure this out as far as incorporating EVs. Limiting voltage, current, battery size, weight etc. if they don't simply make them complete in their own classes.
Any good intro on how to get started with Autocross?
Look up you local SCCA chapter!
I’ve been thinking about making a video along those lines. Maybe Jerome and I can make something along those lines. There are a few good instructional videos on RUclips for basic autocross driving techniques. Any scca region and most other clubs will offer instructors to novice drivers and that is invaluable, you can ride along with them as they drive your car and they can ride along with you and help with instruction. Most scca regions also host an all day, “autocross school” event once a year and those are worthwhile as well.
@@JonBickfordlet’s do it!
I went on a ride along with my ice friends driving M3 Bimmers, NSXs, etc with my bone stock BMW i4 e40 and not only that it was very capable they also they didn’t like noting that I was “cheating” lol
Very cool showcasing the advantage of EV technology when implemented as well as Tesla has done. Tesla was the first EV maker to set and achieve the goal of being significantly better than any similarly priced ICE vehicle. So buying a Tesla is not something drivers do just for the sake of the environment. Its actually the best performance, most efficient and best infotainment and lowest maintenance and operating costs of anything available at a similar price.
The amount of misinformation on fires of evs is incredible... People so stupid
27:07 I’m not even into EVs but I find John’s statement a little wrong in term of 4 doors EV beating Lambo lol I do agree EVs should race other EVs since we all know they are faster than ICE no question
Weres the fun in that 😂
Put the past against the future
But did they go 400 km/h on the Autobahn like the Gentleman with his Bugatti?
It will eventually come down to politics and I would bet they would ban or reclassify them. Also get a couple of Ecoflow delta pro ultras and they will charge it.
No offense to Jerome but it is difficult to hear him sometimes.
Though admittedly I'm really bad with accents.
Tx Marcus. Will work on that 💪👍
