- The one bad patch in this phenomenal game. This is the definition of hard. So hard that I thought I would never do it. But persevere my friends, if i can do it, anybody can. Hopefully this helps you out.

Lack of save point is the true misery on this section....
Yeah if they hadn't have removed it from the original then replay and stress time would have been next to nothing. Even on Zero it was tough but because you could save before it that really helped and I beat it within 5 attempts on legend. I've tried 21 times on this version and couldn't ever get past the machine gunner. Had to quit.

This is insane and maniac.. Any ways how does it matter, i am happy to finish it in normal mode.. This part is frustrating

After about 30 attempts I got to the final truck that rams you. I killed him as he rammed me, so we both died at the same time and I failed. I am now selling my Playstation.
Update: Finally did it. Just keep going.

I did it in one day. It took 8 hours straight though. I also had to sacrifice my soul to the devil and sign a contract to endure 1000 years of torture in hell after I die. But yes, it was worth it

I wouldnt be as angry about this mission if i only had to fight the boss first than do the rail shooter, or atleast skip every single cutscene/enemy entering the room to make things faster
You gotta skip 9 cutscenes, spread out between multiple fights, just to make it to this point again. But for what it’s worth, I’ve now mastered chapter 9, and the Lau Ka Long fight lol
it just always gets you at the end... a couple more shots and you'd win but then boom, dude kills you. the mission is total overkill and they shoulda gone back to the drawing board with it.

Some extra hints:
1. Try to aim to the center of the target reticle if unsure. While Yakuza 0 gave you the critical hit (signaled by the CRUNCH! sound and a drastically increased damage) simply by hitting the center, Kiwami 1 seems to feature hit locations that vary between targets. I'll list my guesses of different enemies critical body parts.
Car window leaners: chest
Bikers: head / neck
Drivers: arms, lower right or lower left. Think about it - they cannot drive if their arms are F'd up. :D
Standing shooters: chest I guess, spamming like hell seems to work
2. Try to kill the characters on the edge of the screen first in the stages preceding the truck. Otherwise you will get stuff like non-shootable rockets. The best example is the rightmost biker one at 2:01 , kill him. Generally, prioritize the bikers with bazookas. The solo bikers shoot slowly, so you can can ignore them a little.
3. If the car driver is revealed, go ham on it and try to ignore the shooters. It is often the easiest solution. Especially with the van with two shooters. Finishing off the second shooter gains you nothing. Maybe shoot it once to make it shut up and finish off the dumb driver.
4. Being calm helps when shooting at small or moving targets such as leaners and bikers. If the driver turns orange, consider spamming shots at it. Even if you miss, you will get your reload earlier and get to shoot him closer as it closes in on you with higher accuracy as it becomes a bigger target.
5. The truck guide.
I) Shoot the middle man as fast as you can to quickly move on. (Even if you kill the front guy, he will magically rise up and reappear with 80 % health.)
II) First focus on the rockets, then the cars, then on spamming at the guy on the truck. As long as you keep the cars and the rockets out, you are untouchable, so play it nice and defensively.
III) FOCUS ON THE BIKERS. They will run out after about a few waves, so if you take them out, the last guy is alone and easy. Priority: rockets, the bikers, the guy on the truck.
IV) Use the Heat Eye to quickly aim your sight on the trucker to minimize the time wasted on aiming and and not shooting. You can try to aim at his arms. Ignore the car parts in the way - the engine probably does not even consider them to be there. Shoot through the car parts and try to find the CRUNCH spot for critical damage.
If you have a lot of car health, go inside the car slightly before he turns red. I never fully figured this dudes critical spot, though I'd guess it is the left arm, based on the cutscene. Just a guess.
6. To get through the restaurant scene fast, I recommend equipping Amon glasses for extra weapon damage (from the last substory), the Dragon of Dojima amulet (from completing Mad Dog Battle section of Climax Battles) and equipping Golden Gun (gives you heat when it hits and it cannot be blocked).
You can also use Pummeling Bat until the guy with the long stick comes out. At that point I usually grab a knife or something else and Heat Action his ass and switch for the Golden Gun if I haven't already.
The kitchen dudes block a lot, so take Rush style, shoot them and Heat Action especially the last guy that takes little damage from bullets. Use the Golden Gun to generate heat to kill the tougher one and simply fire at the weaker ones until they are no more.
Grab the big vases and Heat Action with them on the Chinese Stereotype. He takes a massive amount of damage from them.
7. Shooting slowly seems to increase your ability to hit. Like in the billiard game, your hits probably do not go where you want them to if you shoot too forcefully.

Dude, this video really helped out. Took me like 4 days playing 3 hours each to be able to go through. Platinum is almost there.
Wanted to replay Kiwami before going into Kiwami 2 and now I'm stuck at this point. Why did they turn this gimmick into the hardest part of the game?

I really like this game... or at least I thought I did until I reached this part. Fuck this sequence.
I haven't played an FPS on a controller in about 12 years, and I rarely play games with a controller at all, so I'm having a hard time landing my shots even when the camera isn't swaying wildly. I just couldn't do it on Hard, had to lower the difficulty and even then it took 3 tries. Even though I'm finally able to progress, I feel defeated. This sequence is just not fun.

I literally just completed this chapter today, and I was sooo lucky. So up to the truck driver I had basically one health for both Kiryu and the car. And I was already expecting to lose right as soon as it hits Kiryu. It was turning red, and I somehow shot it enough to where it turned blue again and I managed to complete the level. I think this is the hardest mission I’ve ever done in a game before, and me and my brother took 2 1/2 days to do it. Your guide really helped tho, so thank you.

This definitely wins the award for most BS section in Yakuza Kiwami Legend mode. I made it here now and I hope this guide helps with beating the damn thing. Honestly, it probably won't be half as bad after this.
I hold X but I still lose half my health bar. In real life, I'm already dead. This fucking chase has killed me.
I was enjoying myself hurling through Legend with infinite heat and my golden pistol.
Fights lasted no more than 10 seconds, bosses crawled into corners to cry and life seemed sweet.
Then this SHIT. Honestly, it's harder than all the climax battles combined. It's ridiculous.

GOD FUCKING DAMN English doesn't contain words that can express how much i fucking HATE this level. If not this guideni would never complete kiwami on legendary. Thank you so much for that dude
After 3 hours, I beat it. Helpful tips:
Use heat action during those stupid cars you have to shoot the driver or else they will damage your health/car.
Kill the middle guy on top of the truck when they first appear as quickly as possible. Also, make sure to hit the left guy since he goes red as well. Heat action is helpful to kill the middle guy quicker.
The rocker launcher is easy. Just shoot the ones in the small cat first,(always use heat action to shoot down rocket) Do this until the rocket launcher is alone. Then, you will switch sides. Repeat the same thing. Only shoot the ones in the small car first and heat action the rocket launcher. Eventually no more will come and the rocket launcher will be all alone.
The third one is really annoying.
Make sure to kill the motorcycle guys as quickly as possible. Use heat action on the guy on the truck since he goes red quickly. After a few shots he will go back to green. Mainly focus on motorcycle guys and be cautious of guy ontop of truck. Eventually there won't be no more motorcycle guys and the guy ontop of the truck is all alone. Very easy to kill.
FINALLY, (the worse part for me)
The big truck. Be aware of your bullets. Shoot a few until he comes closer. Once he starts to get closer, use heat action immediately and shoot him as much as possible. Be cautious of your health/car. It was my remaining low health/car that screwed me over.
I tried 5 times.

I was just thinking back on how this was difficult on normal so I knew the mechanic of not being able to reload from a checkpoint on Legend would prove to be extremely dumb.
Ever since I decided to go for the platinum trophy I've been dreading this moment! I'm happy to say that it went surprisingly well. Did it on the 4th try. I had to retry it so many times on on my first playthrough that when the time came to do it on legendary I had it pretty nailed down. Though I really felt the extra pressure of having to do the whole chapter over if I failed. But having said all that, the most infuriating part of achieving the platinum for me was getting a 950 score on Otometal. That almost made me give up the platinum.
Hey man, i don't know if you're still around or what, but thank you for this guide, this guide meant a lot to me(as in it helped me) due to the amount of stressful attempts like...I think it took me like 26 times in like two days to try to beat this damn section. And also i literally understand how you feel about this section, at least all of us do; who had to use all of our sanities and energy to beat it. Like i think the hardest part about this section is that you have to be patient as hell, heat eye a lot of times and hide immediately in the truck part (in case your HP is low), reload your gun at every conceivable times and pretty much have to keep aiming as your target becomes red. This section almost made me want to give up on beating it until i came across this guide tonight, so i'm glad it made a difference after rewatching the video like 3 times to memorize what i had to do.
Long story short; this section is nearly impossible but it is actually possible if you try your hardest best in beating this section.

The worst part is that this is only section like thisin the whole game. It`s not some superhard dude who you just can`t beat. It`s the hardest part of the game with gameplay you are not here to play. God fucking dammit

The goal is to let kiryu take as much damage as possible so the car can be full health for the last section
So if your ab to get shot by someone who has a regular pistol don’t panic it won’t do that much damage

I finally beat this today. Got that Platinum trophy in the bag baby.
The trick is to use heat eye to pop enemies that are spread out to prevent them from shooting you. You need like 80% car by the end with Truck kun. Also, the rocket launcher and machine gun sections are easier if you focus the cars and motorcycles, which are finite.
I did the legend difficulty and in this part. I followed your instructions and I failed only 6 times and now done in the story in the legend difficulty. Thanks for the tips

A cool trick to play around with is actually holding ur shot, makes u do more damage if u wait between shots, also helps cancel enemy attacks. Finally, aim for the center of the targets and not headshots. Thats how i beat it, hopefully i help someone
Thanks for the guide, took me an hour to finish. For those who are still having a hard time, utilize the hiding mechanism. Hold X if there's a red alert and you cant kill the enemy on time. Kiryu will hide in the car and the car will get damage instead of Kiryu. Very useful in the machine gun scenarios. What i did there was focus on the motorcycle since they will only last 3-4 waves. i tried to hit the machine gunner 2 times(i think?) when i have the chance to reset his target cycle. if i know i will not get to him on time(no more heat skill), i will hide in the car. He will damage the car by 1/4 but kiryu will not have any damage. then when you finished all the motorcycle waves you can now focus on him. reload before killing him so you will have 14 bullets when the truck scenario begins
As for the truck driver, make sure you have at least 1/3 ( i think) life and the car is more than half. first round - go crazy with your bullets and use your heat. Make sure you empty half of his life bar. Also expect that you cannot kill him on the first round. when he is about to hit you, Hold X and hide in the car. this will damage the car about a half and kiryu will also take a little damage (you can see by how much in the video). On the 2nd round, you will have enough bullets and heat to finish off the truck. If you can't kill him on this round, you will fail.
Don't know what I hate more:
killing Lau Ka Long (+Trash Mob) multiple times or this sequence.
But finally done after 7th/8th try. But some Climax Battles were worse (for me as Yakuza Newbie).

HATE. playing on hard. first playtru, first yakuza. i tried it 5 times. after the second death i kinda got the mechanics and came to the part where that guy shoots missles from the truck. after i died the game asked me if i wanna play a less difficult mode. HELL YEAH I WANT. at take 5 i finally came to the obviously last guy sitting in his truck, smiling at my face because he knows no matter what i do i dont have enouth hp on my car or myself to stop the only attack he would be able to do in his small timeframe. and he crashed my car.. so i quit. this is embarrassing. wtf?! i hope there is nothing like this in the other yakuza games. this suxx.

I stopped playing 7 before some big spoilers stuff to do 0-6. I'm on 1 at this crappy place. I'm thinking of dropping it and moving onto 2, just read up on the spoilers and just move on.

I wish they would’ve implemented a save point at the jail. You can walk around the area, save then talk to Date when you’re ready to leave.

Thank you very much for this, it helped quite alot but even so, i was still shit at it haha, was trying most the day yesterday and today i must have tried well over 50-60 times ugh how horrendous but thank fuck its done now. there were two occasions i very nearly killed the truck driver but then got killed lol quite soul destroying. Dunno how on earth some here got it first try, you have to be a real aiming god through moving vehicles!!! the things that gave me the most grief were the drivers ramming into me and the rockets. In the end i kinda mastered it and got better and better remembering the enemy patterns off by heart but still took a bit of luck. Glad this shit part is finally done
Finally finished this damn sequence. I personally love Yakuza Kiwami, and its one of my favorite titles that I’ve played so far in the series (granted I still have 3-6 to play, but I’ve beaten 0, K2, and the Judgment games as well which were amazing). The platinum trophy for this game is such a pain to get, but it feels so rewarding, especially given how much I enjoyed the game, and even the car chase felt like a fun challenge near the end. Also my rarest platinum trophy I’ve gotten.

Just did it Easy first try just like in 0. but im pretty good in aiming with controller, a little tipp i can give is to just hold down Heat Eye most of the time even if its empty and focus and the reddest circle, safety > speed

Ive died more times in this than my entire playthrough of Sekiro.
God fucking bless. Took me 3 tries on legend, but only because I replayed this mission more than 15 times on hard earlier. My last successful try could have ended like complete shit if it took 0.5 sec longer. Either car or kiryu would've be gone. On the fucking truck ramming.
god i despise this but if I ain't gonna finish Yakuza on Legend I might not touch it at all.
This took me about six tries. I only got to the final truck twice... I'm pretty sure I lucked out and managed to interrupt his charge, which didn't happen the first time. This is the peak of Yakuza BS, where the strategy is to endure the pain until you get lucky. So glad to be done with this, now to the final run before the platinum.
Fuck this section on legend, man. I've been on chapter 9 since 5:46pm, and, after two breaks, I FINALLY beat this part at 1:48 in the morning! After this playthrough I'm never playing this game on legend again. 😤
