Yakuza Kiwami - Long Battles: 3 - Car Chase (EX-HARD)

- One of the more infuriating parts of playing the game in Ex-Hard. The last save point you can save your progress at is at the start of this chapter (chapter 9) and if you die here, you'd have to go through the whole Snake Flower Triad part again to get here. It may take you several attempts just like it did with me, but persevere and you'll do fine, now here's what I can tell you about this part:
Try to reload whenever you can, use the heat eye whenever you feel necessary, but sometimes, holding L1 even when the heat eye is depleted will help you, but it will also cause some disorientation at times. Try to be aggressive with the shooting but at the same time try not to miss your shots.
For the two motorcycle parts at 1:22, I noticed that shooting the guy on the right first will lead to a much smoother outcome than when you start with the left guy, because you'll have trouble aiming with the camera angle and all, so make sure you get the guy on the right first.
As for the van at 2:14, try your best to aggressively shoot at the guy in the front, and once that guy in the back pops up, shoot him just enough to cause his crosshair to go back to green. Once the guy in the front is down, try your best to take down the driver instead of the guy in the back so they can both be dealt with at once. As with before, if the guy pops out, shoot him enough to cause his crosshair to go green then shift your focus back to the driver.
At the truck part at 3:10, go into slow motion instantly and shoot the guy with the lowest HP before anyone else, once you do that, it'll go to the next sequence where you can focus on one of the two guys with larger HPs. Now this part is really really tricky and you can lose easily here, but what you have to do is try your best to shoot the guy above aggressively, while at the same time taking out the goons below in the cars so they they don't damage you. Luckily, this first guy on top of the truck shoots rockets which you can shoot to avoid damage. But it's not that easy for the second guy.
The second guy has a machine gun instead, and if his crosshair goes red, it'll be hard to avoid his hits. You should either take it, take cover inside the car so you don't damage yourself, or give it a shot at damaging him enough for his crosshair to go back to green. Don't forget to shoot the bikers so they don't annoy you, but at the same time, go all out on the guy above.
Now for the final truck driver part at 5:07, shoot the fuck outta that guy. I think the best usage for Heat Eye here is if he starts closing in. THIS part is important: If you think he'll damage you, TAKE COVER IN THE CAR. Because if he gets to damage you, you'll take way more HP than the car does, it could easily take off around 35% or so off your HP and surprise you with a sudden death screen.
I think that's about all I can say about this sequence, I hope my tips help you. Don't forget that this fight needs perseverance, it took me at least two hours to get this video. Keep at it and you'll eventually get it!

Okay, since a lot of people here had problems with this section ( and a lot of people will because this game is gonna come out on PC and a lot of people will be looking for a guide) and my PS4 just messed up so instead of making a new video for my channel i’m gonna write the guide in this comment. Hope Leon pins this somehow.
So there are two main things you NEED to know.
1- don’t shoot too much. The more you shoot the less damage you make and the faster the enemies charge their shots. You have all the time in the world, instead of spamming the buttons you need to make about 2-3 shot at the regular guys and about 4-5 to the drivers ( heat eye helps here). Don’t panic, you need to shoot clean not like as fast as cowboy.
2- the most important thing. Aim for the center of the circle, not for the heads. Headshots are useless in this. If you shoot the center of the circles you’ll hear a sound of the impact and this makes enemies stop charging their shots even if the circle is already red. Use heat eye to make the first shot to the center and keep shooting with a pause of a second. If you do this right’ you’ll be able to pass this with no damage.
When you get to the guy with rocket launcher first thing you mustdo is take down the cars first and THEN deal with the shooter, he’ll die after about 7-8 shots. First minions then the big guys. Don’t forget to shoot the rockets midair. Also don’t try to shoot the truck driver as fast as you can. Again, shoot like a marksman to the center about 3-4 times and he’ll stop charging at you, but you MUST make pauses between shots instead of mashing the button. Good luck.
thanks for this post. just finished that godforsaken level after like 15 tries after reading your advice. just finished the plat as well. would suck if i had spent like 2 hours learning how to play mahjong and 20 tries getting over a 950 on that song only to not be able to get past this level.

Jingu and his 2 men were really hard to beat in hard mode. And then fighting nishki. 2 boss battles in a row.

Yet, he shot a bunch of Dojima's, Jingu's, and Jingenwong's thugs, crippled a whole lot of dudes, and even used a grenade launcher on the copter.
Also, Kiryu is supposed to be a virgin, yet he banged 3 girls from the telephone club, some hostesses, and Sayama, even though they broke up after a few weeks.
Except in EVERY car chase sequence, Y6 Millenium Tower Raid and many many more.

Found this easy on my 3rd attempt. The main thing I found kinda difficult is the drivers and their non existent hit box.

You get a lotta mileage out of Date's police-revolver with 5 shots. I'm at this part... the rocket launcher guy with infinite cars is the worst part.
Little late 😂, but don’t bother with the rocket launch guy until the other cars trying to shoot you are completely gone, but make sure to shoot them and the rockets without hesitation because they will hit you if you’re too slow, as soon as the cars are gone spam the shoot button on the rocket launcher guy them repeat the process when the cars come back.

After 17 attempts I never got past the machine gunner. Having the redo the whole chapter has really taken an effect though and every time I go to switch the PS4 on I back away lol. Horrible game design and done on purpose by the devs to remove the save point.
I'm here, because I want to say that I managed get through with this car chase after many tries in Legend difficulty. It was horrible.

What makes it at the truck segment partly fustrating isnt the constant pressure of RPG shooting but the fact that if you turn at a curve, the rocket goes off screen, eventually reaching you aswell & giving you almost no chance to shoot it off despite with Heat Eyes applied.
Otherwise the rest is simply "memorize" the enemies patterns & it's positions in order to pre-damaging them without the target coloring.
I give up. It's impossible.
Ruth K only way I did it was switching to easy mode and that helped a lot. Did it first time after trying for hours on normal... You have to switch to easy before the beginning of level 9 though... good luck!

Reading the comments here, I'm happy that there were some advantages to playing Kiwami with a mouse & keyboard (albeit very few). I really enjoyed this section; very Virtua Cop. I loved VCop2 as a child.

How to make any Yakuza's car chase perfect, right after you gain full control of Kiryu (for this video, it would be 0:44):
1) mute the game's audio
2) play Kiryu's full version of Baka mitai.
3) enjoy!
Second try here. Even got hit with one rocket shell and made it with 10% hp on both me and the car and the truck literally being on gunpoint lol
What I would not have given for a GunCon or Move compatibility.
This must all be stuntman because the real Kiryu will never use firearms nor kill people

If your health is low then take cover and let the car take damage. The car has more health.
Try to take headshots as much as possible in heat mode. At times I was able to one shot enemies.
Be aggressive. Even when scope is slightly off target the gun will do damage. So keep shooting like crazy unless you are close to be hit. Shooting the driver when able saves you time from shooting the others.

This would be a real pain, epic mode because you can't save the scene before the car chase and you'd have to fight a boss in epic mode before you got to the car chase scene. I've played insane modes on a lot of games, but this is too big of a mistake SEGA made for me to try epic mode. Good luck to you folks, dealing with this Malarkey.

The great thing about playing with keyboard and mouse instead of controller (like I do) is that you can actually aim WITH the mouse, and it makes this section *SO* much easier.

I got this encounter done the first time I did it on Legend, I thought people were kidding when they said it was hard as I cleared 90% of the level without taking a single point of damage, then the van arrives and I mess up twice and manage to finish the level one hit away from death.
This shit's no joke.
I didn't think this level was that bad, I also cleared most of it without taking a hit... until I reached the truck part. If I don't die by the rockets I die by the car dudes on the right, and vice versa. It's infuriating. It wouldn't be half as bad if the game offered the player to save at the beggining of the chase.
Lol ur just so worried about dying and having to go back to the last checkpoint therefore u try ur best not to die

I just finished this on legend. Took me about 6 tries, and the part that kept fucking me up was the last part with the truck. Here's a really useful tip.
As soon as you can aim for the truck, you have enough time to unload a full clip at the driver until you need to duck back in so you don't get hit by the truck. If you're lucky, all those bullets in the first clip can make him back off and not hit the car at all.
Dogeyes that’s your flaw. You don’t need to shoot the whole clip. About 5-6 shots stop his charge

This took me 5 tries. That was just over an hour of my life due to how bad the checkpoint system is here in Kiwami.
this part is cheated af. Pure bullshit. In some cases those dudes go off screen and you can’t shot them. And when they appear again they are almost shoting you, not giving us enough time to think about what to do

I’m still new to yakuza series but i like to put the setting on hard because i’m up for a challenge I might end up doing the whole thing on normal because of this shitty care chase

and a gun at most , could take down almost 40 - 50 almost 70 people from renown triad .. ..
cannot imagine... If saejima, majima, daigo along with only with about 20 of his local elite bodyguard, plus one liutentant from tojo clan , they even could wipe out almost non mayor yakuza clan, about 60% in japan LOLs..
whether they are chinese, western, italian gang, vietnamese, then about 3 or 4 small time yakuza gangs ...

speaking of daigo if u looked carefully on finale scene of yakuza 5, daigo even bested 4/5 omi alliance guards in just 2 seconds less, by 1 gun, 1 handed , while carrying the wounded naoki katsuya from another omi family..

Is it really that hard, even on normal? Some people say they even lowered the difficulty, which surprises me. Normal is pretty easy for me, it seems. Haven't played on a harder difficulty yet, but I barely took any damage on normal. Odd.
Everything except legend is pretty easy.

The best way to do this is to shoot them as fast as possible without hesitation, and make sure you shoot the enemies that have their circles going red. I believe if you do get hit the damage isn’t any higher than it is on hard.

Holy shit this part is so difficult on hard and it took me 40 minutes or more to beat this level and I thought at first it was easy until the truck came and fucked me....
Strangely enough if you play this on K+M (ik it sounds like blasphemy) the game allows you to aim using your mouse....that made this part extremely easy
By far the worst level design ever in a yakuza game. No save point, stupid recoil, missiles coming towards you off screen and a truck driver that one shots you like okay? Just terrible holy shit
This is hardest part even through not as hard as og, Still really hard.
I wish there were more sequences like this in the yakuza games, i only play on easy mode btw. Sometimes you need a break from all the fist fighting.
