I am so in love with my new discovery. Previously had no real interest in growing. Bought an aloe plant from my neighbor after his wife passed bcuz he wasn't taking care of it. I researched how to care for it, got the cactus mix soil & now it's so gorgeous and healthy and tall. She's had 4 babies alreardy. I call them babies & I love em😊. Anyway, now that I've discovered terrariums, I'm hooked. I will be doing this. It's so dope.
5 years have passed already. This was one of the first videos I've watched. I'm curious, do you still have this terrarium? Would love to see an update.
I love the video. As a gardener I have one suggestion. Plants always look better when planted in odd numbers. 1, 3 or 5 plants would have looked better.
Great tip! I've heard it before, the human brain sees things without a pattern as more "raw" and nature like while even numbers and patterns are seen as logical, structured and more human. Also, in nature almost nothing has straight lines or really sharp 90degree-like corners. we see straight lines as "unnatural". That's why tankers put brushes on their tanks, not to just turn it into a giant roaring bush, but mainly to break up the sharp lines which will get noticed by an human eye if not covered up... :)
Then You Would Also Need An Odd Number Of Terrariums Or You Would Have An Even Number Of Plants... So This Terrarium With The Four Cacti Would Look Good Next To One Other Terrarium With Three Cacti. For A Total Of 7 Cacti.... Hmmmmm... Its Like My Neighbor Planted Five Trees At Our Property Line... It Messes Up Everything... Makes It Too Complicated, I Think You Should Just Do What You Want.... That Being Said... Ha Ha... We Did Learn The Odd Number Rule In Every Art Class I Took.
this is the best explication that I have seen. I'm from Argentina, I don't understand much explanation because of english, but the video and their images were very clear. you are a genius in this!
Hey, I'd definitely recommend using a brush (a toothbrush or a makeup brush, something with soft bristles) to get soil off of plants, that way you won't be blowing outside soil everywhere.
I lived in Arizona for a year and I fell in LOVE with the desert environment! Getting glochids in my fingers hurts though, that's why I don't grow them.
I'm suffering just looking at you touching all of those cacti. I have plenty of those and I can literally feel the pain as it was mine! Expecially the dotted ones...
Allison Sedar Agreed! I had them stuck in my hand once and I couldn’t get them out due to how small they were. i learnt better and invested in nitrite gloves soon after.
I appreciate that you value the plant needs over aesthetics. I have seen some beautiful plantings that I know are never going to last due to the conditions they are in. Great videos and great series!
Look at these beautiful cactus! I have only one tiny cactus, I am trying to make it grow (it stoped, I guess the recipient was small), so I moved it into a bigger recipient a few days ago, in a few days (I guess) I am going to see some results!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I made an amazing cactus terrarium today and these tips were really helpfully and gave me a look to work around other mine. Really good video, but I found a thin soft paintbrush I had never used was a bit more efficient and less messy at cleaning the cacti, but that could just be my clumsiness. great video!
I just looooove your videos!!! I never thought I’d be watching (or should I say binge watching !) terrarium videos!!! But here I am!!!! I’m sooooooooo inspired to make them once I’m done renovating my home!!! Thank you for such great content!!! 😊👍🙏❤️😉
I could seriously listen to your voice all day. Screen idea is excellent for maintaining layers. With these glass terrariums, you can keep an eye on moisture in the bottom and mist like you are with a spray bottle lightly 2 days in a row rather than water so much it goes to the bottom. Wonderful video!
The ones he picks are actually not that pokey. Some poke more but they feel more fuzzy, of course you don't want to tighten your grip on them but they really are quite tame versus wild caci
great vid!! I have a suggestion for cacti/succulent terrariums. I actually keep the plants in the plastic container (or a slightly larger one) and then just put gravel-type material below and all around it. Thank way any water that comes out the bottom of the plastic pots goes into the gravel and evaporates more easily instead of just staying stuck in a false bottom the way it can with a if theres a thick layer entirely of soil. and of course I put the topdressing high enough to cover the tops of the plastic pots!
I did one exactly like this only with smaller cactus with three and a few cactus that look like balls. They grow together and actually moved closer to each other. I also used charcoal with the false bottom. I've made another one in a square dish with three cactus. The like the little lamps I turn on 8-10 hours daily. I need to make more. So relaxing🤗 subscribed
I think this would probably be a really nice way to grow cacti in climate where you can't really grow cactus, and regulate the microclimate better than you could otherwise. Like the reverse of a greenhouse in the desert. I love this!!!
As an avid designer I have a couple of suggestions that I’ve learned planning rooms and such that could definitely be helpful for your terrariums as well. My mom always talks about how things generally look better in groups of 3 or 5. From what I gather this is because 2 and 4 often look to organized/ planned out. As well as doing this, it will also make them look less crowded. The appeal aesthetically of cacti is how simple they are. By over crowding your terrariums, you can lose some of this.
That was sooooo cool!! It looks like a mini desert, i bet if i had this beautiful terrarium my sons will want to play with their cowboys in it! Hahahah u rock!! Xo marce!
hey so my house has barely any plants except two succulents and some flowers/saplings we keep outside so i made some cuttings from a succulent and i'm keeping an eye on them 😊 my oldest cutting has started growing tiny roots ☺️
I want to add, to anyone who may watch this. Do not just spray water on your cacti. A lot of them can rot if they get water on their leaves. I recommend gently pouring water on the surface, trying not to spash water on the cacti. However, if this were an outdoor setup do as you please. In closing I really love this design and thinking about doing someing similar with my cacti and succulants. :)
Great video, thanks for sharing the knowledge. I haven't read all the comments but just in case it wasn't mentioned, a can of compressed air would work well for cleaning also.
Amazing arrangement!!! My favorite thus far. Going to search for a clear bowl now! Been thinking of consolidating my cacti’s into one pot! This was a great demonstration thanks for sharing!!
Omg watching you grab those cacti bare handed have me the shivers! Great video though I’ve been loving these terrarium videos!! And the straw trick is a life saver for houseplants too!
Me and my daughter freaked when u grabbed those cacti with your bare hands! How!? We hurt for u, haha! Love your stuff man thanks. Inspired a new family science project! 👍
We do this to are cati water: get rain water in a good size container. Pour water out till its 75% percent full then and tap water Both waters have diffrent amounts of minerals in it
I cant stop watching your great videos!!! You are so knowledgeble. I was wondering where you buy some of the containers for the closed terrariums.Keep up the good work. Keep making your great videos. Thanks.
Hi !... I'm from Argentina and I speak Spanish, so I have a trouble trying to understand or hear, why do you use the screen window at bottom. Your English is very clear, but I cannot understand very well. Can you explain me typing the "why"?. Thanks a lot, and you have a beautiful channel. :) .. Cheers!!
I followed this template when I found your video about three years ago. Thanks Tanner! People always ask, where I bought it. Judging from the looks I get, I can tell they think I’m fibbing she n tell them I made it.
Usually I only water my potted cacti every two weeks in the summer, and every 3 in the winter. Can probably do more if you live in a hot dry place, but the humidity where I live is too much
I have a question, sparked by the intro: Is it possible to create a terrarium that produces a mist/fog or use a fog in a terrarium without interrupting the sustainability?
Hola desde Argentina: El proximo terrario de cactus pruebe hacerlo con cactus Litops, conocido como cactus piedra son muy interesantes y versatiles para lo que Ud. hace que desde ya es muy interesante. Muchas gracias .--
i gasped when you just grabbed the cacti out of their pots tbh :O
Spicy Meme ikr and when he held onto them I was like biting my knuckle xD
I wore garden gloves when I planted mine, and I still got spines in my hands.
I am so in love with my new discovery. Previously had no real interest in growing.

never thought i'd binge watch terrarium videos. you just earned yourself a loyal fan, great shit, maynge
Same, rad.
HaloMadness007 I’ve done the same
Yep! I could listen to hi, talk about terrariums all day
Two years later same thing happened with me, man. New to this channel. Already loving it.
Bruh why is this happening to me 😂😂😂
this is the best explication that I have seen.
I'm from Argentina, I don't understand much explanation because of english, but the video and their images were very clear.
you are a genius in this!
1:18
That's what my terrarium looks like.
I wheezed
AHAHAHAH
I love how he just GRABS THE CACTI WITHOUT GETTING HURT
The ultimate chad
He as god
You just grabbed them... I get spines in my hands just by looking at mine....
Yea, I really hate those little invisible spines that stay in your hands and cause so much pain.
@@toro_caspi4191 it's like a splinter
I can do that with all my cactus except one little bitxx a sliver ball cactus the hook at the skin and it’s a pain in the axx
Meee🤣🤣
Same here!! That’s why I’m making a terrarium so they stop stabbing me!

I dont know a lot of things, but i do know youtube. and you sir, deserve at least 75,000 more subs.
AGREED!!!
The only problem is larger channels are harder to keep a healthy community.
You mean a million
I wanted to subscribe after your comment but forgot I already did...
Could you start making small aquariums kinda how you make your terrariums? Maybe with water springtails, freshwater snails, and aquatic plants?
I'm suffering just looking at you touching all of those cacti. I have plenty of those and I can literally feel the pain as it was mine! Expecially the dotted ones...
Anna Turroni Lol! It didn't hurt that bad, I have pretty tough skin thankfully.
Seriously, the options are the nastiest and the hardest to remove because they’re so small!!
Anna Nanna the minuscule spines are called glochids.
Allison Sedar Agreed! I had them stuck in my hand once and I couldn’t get them out due to how small they were. i learnt better and invested in nitrite gloves soon after.

“Sand or something similar”
....*reaches for granulated sugar*
Stay tuned for next weeks episode, you don't want to miss it!
SerpaDesign can you make a carnivorous plant terrarium?
@TheLostOne 172 he made it by now
Outstanding, I never had much luck with cacti but I'm going to give this a try.
Look at these beautiful cactus! I have only one tiny cactus, I am trying to make it grow (it stoped, I guess the recipient was small), so I moved it into a bigger recipient a few days ago, in a few days (I guess) I am going to see some results!

Idk how or why I started watching your videos but here I am after a month building my first terrarium.
Awesome cacti terrarium with clear jar
SerpaDesign, Hands of Steel

That being said, this dude gives zero f's about having cactus hands
The ones he picks are actually not that pokey. Some poke more but they feel more fuzzy, of course you don't want to tighten your grip on them but they really are quite tame versus wild caci
I was thinking the same thing!!😂😂😂
If you're gentle yet just the right amount of firm, you can easily handle most cacti without a prick.
Браво, супер 👏 люблю кактусы и суккуленты, МОЛОДЕЦ 👏 КРУТО, много чего почерпнула для себя! Очень красиво 😍
Dude you should sell these I would buy one!

The point of a false bottom is to evaporate it slowly so that there is less maintenance, also that can lead to root rot
I did one exactly like this only with smaller cactus with three and a few cactus that look like balls. They grow together and actually moved closer to each other. Thanks I always see tiny cacti super cheap and I have an empty glass container similar to this one so know I’m gonna try this!!! So cute!
So cool ! This really helps me for my school assignment ! Thanks !!
The best cactus terrarium in RUclips I think. I love your creations.
Sooo you just gripped that cactus haha I get cactus spikes in my hand all the time just watering them.

Another excellent video!! You are very talented. Wish I could binge watch all of your videos right now.🌵🌵🌵
hey so my house has barely any plants except two succulents and some flowers/saplings we keep outside so i made some cuttings from a succulent and i'm keeping an eye on them 😊 my oldest cutting has started growing tiny roots ☺️
So beautiful! Very professional! Thank you!
You sir are a brave man and mean business with those cactuses!!! Well done!!!
Very cool and fun. Thanks!
That being said, this was an enjoyable video.

I've always wanted to make desert themed things like this.
What a total badass.
I'm gonna do these for christmas gifts this year!!!! So excited to get creative
Your voice is soothing and the video is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.

Ok thanks. I just picked some up👍. great videos btw.
I love your terrariums! This makes me want to make a desert terrarium but I have a cat that probably wouldn’t leave it alone!
We do this to are cati water: get rain water in a good size container. Pour water out till its 75% percent full then and tap water

Beautiful!
Love it, thanks for sharing😊
Thank you, my cacti haven’t been doing well, I’m going to transfer them to a better terrarium like you explained and hopefully they will do better
Beautiful!!!
Looks great!
would be perfect with a snake or squirrel skull
Thank you this was very helpful.
Great video! So far it's been the most helpful/ enjoyable I've come across :)
So simple, yet so beautiful!
I'm gonna make this today! i got cacti and a clear bowl!
Hi !... I'm from Argentina and I speak Spanish, so I have a trouble trying to understand or hear, why do you use the screen window at bottom. Your English is very clear, but I cannot understand very well. Can you explain me typing the "why"?. Thanks a lot, and you have a beautiful channel. :) .. Cheers!!
Your vids are the only kind of videos i watch every day
I would never be able to grab cacti like that lol
So beautiful! Now I want to terrarium. Thank you for the amazing content!!
I followed this template when I found your video about three years ago. Thanks Tanner! People always ask, where I bought it. Judging from the looks I get, I can tell they think I’m fibbing she n tell them I made it.

So glad i found you channel
This is lovely , you inspired me to try and make one .
I’ve been wanting to make a nice cactus terrarium for awhile!!! I live in Arizona so to get everything I need I just have to go outside :- )
Good stuff! Thank you!
You sounds asleep but it suits the vibe of the vid, love
I like the cactus, they look great
Very good teaching. Perfect to follow.
I have a question, sparked by the intro:
Is it possible to create a terrarium that produces a mist/fog
or use a fog in a terrarium without interrupting the sustainability?
Carnifex You could probably make a terrarium that makes fog, but it has to be sealed.
Very nice looking terrarium..
I really like your videos...your instructions are very clear and your projects fun to watch! Thanks for all the help!!!
Nice!
Nice choice of music! That being said, could someone please let me know which artist this is?
I was surprised to see a cactus terrarium so similar to the one I have made. A complete coincidence 😳
wants to know about watering cactus terrarium for this video
Thank you
Good job 👍🌿
Love watching your videos, you’re so creative and inspirational. Guess, this will be a project for today.. :)
Very nice👍
Cacti: evolves specialized spines to deter predation and ensure success
Tanner: handles with bare hands
You should make an update video! Curious to see how this is looking all these years later
This is a great tutorial! I can’t wait to get started. Thank you!
Hola desde Argentina: El proximo terrario de cactus pruebe hacerlo con cactus Litops, conocido como cactus piedra son muy interesantes y versatiles para lo que Ud. hace que desde ya es muy interesante. Muchas gracias .--
This guy sounds like Sabine from disjointed but I love his videos.
your video visual is nice... I didn't feel boring to watch it 'till the end. So relaxing and helpful. Thank you for sharing :)
