I can't believe that it's been 7 years since I first saw your channel, and all of the progress you've made. I just came back to watch this video as a blast from the past.
Awesome work. My husband said, "this guy is professional professional" 👌🏼 We're celebrating our 13th anniversary this weekend and building a terrarium is one of today's projects!
Man, look how far you’ve come. There is nothing more inspiring than consistent progress. I show your videos in all the public school classes I teach. 🙂
I do the same. I tried putting them I'm the pots to propogate properly. However they just throw them away. I don't like intentionally killing plant life and not giving them a chance, so I take all leaves home with me.now lol. Might as well give em a fighting chance before throwing them away
@serpadesign your channel is so pure! You explain everything so thoroughly and your unique tips are really helpful. I would have never thought to use a straw like that! You do great work and the soundtrack is so relaxing!
Hey bro, just wanted to send a thank you because I just built my first terrarium. In 1986 I won the Paekakariki School Spring Show Miniature Garden, now I've got the best terrarium in my class, (grade 2, I'm the teacher). Its small and was a rushed job with materials I found in the car park, pot plants and classroom but its a great start. In June our grade will study biomes and ecosystems, this might be a great project for the kids! Thank you.
Wow wow wow. I absolutely LOVE your channel. I was on youtube today, and a random video popped up about terrariums. From then on I've been fascinated with the idea of having a basically self sufficient plant system (closed terrarium). I'm super excited to see how this thing is looking in a few weeks. I've got a feeling that your channel is gonna sky-rocket soon! Keep up the amazing and inspiring work :)
@@skytower1662 any garden store or home depot or anything should have succulents, or u can do what mum did and get a small clipping from someone who has a bunch in their garden! then u can propagate it (google propagating succulents)
it's technically not a good thing to do, but if you take a small piece of a kind they have a bunch of u should be ok. if yr really worried, knock on their door and ask! many gardeners like to share their hobby!
I'm so glad that youtube took me straight into your tutorial. I've fallen in love with terrariums, and it has been very overwhelming, simply to contemplate the first step of mixing the right combination of soil, let alone applying it by action. Your video was lovely, outlined well and so easy to follow and comprehend, very relaxing and pleasant soft instrumental music that didn't deter from learning! Many videos get thumbs down in my book simply because they are raucous and chaotic. I've shared this video already, and I look forward to learning more from your creativity. Thanks!
I've recently found a love for terrariums. I love your channel, you're very informative and obviously put a lot of effort and care into your plants and projects. :) thank you so much for sharing your projects.
I love the way you work!!! And... not a small thing... your choice of music is wonderful. Very informative. I actually think I could do this after watching you! Your esthetic sense is great too!
Lovely to see your first terrarium video, Tanner. You started as you have continued since by being both polite and very informative. Keep up the good work !
This is my new favorite RUclips video. There is just something about watching a person practicing their passion. LOVE IT. Also totally gonna make a terrarium now. Thanks man!
I watched your vid last night and made my first 2 terrariums this morning. With your tips, they look great! Thank you for posting this video for beginners like me.
what a great tutorial, well explained, no luxury materias, just the ones that will make the project last, good looking design. You're very talented! I would love to pull up such a nice piece of art. BTW, great channel.
I love your channel. All I've been doing for the past 3 days is watching all your terrarium videos. Super informative and educational. two thumbs way up!
7 years on and it's still helping folk haha I'm making my first open succulent terrarium with my 2 lads on Wednesday and this has helped me massively, its only a small one so not as much work as you did on this one but I'm hoping it's gonna look great 😁😁👍👍
Anyone else's eye twitch eveytime the glass screeches because of the dirt and rocks on the table when he spins it ??? Hahaha he does amazing work. So inspiring.
Your terranium looks like a beautiful oasis. So relaxing and breathtaking. I will make one for my work desk very soon. Thanks for the thorough tutorial.
Hi Tanner, I'm so glad I found you! Your creations are so inspiring and I am hooked! I am learning so much. I totally overlooked the quarantine rules for Australia (where I am) its a steep learning curve. I've watch a LOT of your videos in the past couple of days, I'm fascinated by how beautifully neat, tidy and organised your work space is and was hoping you could do a class of your preferred set up and Why you do it that way. I'm wondering about your plant storage, how long they can be stored for, your soil mix storage, decorative sticks and stones etc. I think you are extraordinarily talented and so generous with your time, knowledge and energy. Thank you so much, Louisa ps: if you have terrarium friends in Australia with advice on supplies, that would be a totally extra bonus to finding this channel. Cheers.
these videos are amazing, i cant stop searching around for things to make my own, i used to do little sealed aquariums with all sorts of life inside from various lakes and ponds
Wow I have been watching your youtube for the last several months and its its wonderful following your fevelopment throught the last seven years. You are an amazing artist and extremely talented. I find your posts very relaxing and informative.
You do such beautiful work. My only criticism is that when you turned the container the squeak against the dirt on the table would make my hair stand on end, like nails on a chalkboard, I'd have to brace myself for it. Otherwise, very well made. Good job :-) :-)
Beautiful work Tanner...you have a great artistic eye for detail, and a natural love for the flora and fauna...you remind me of myself 40 years ago...back in the day yo!...lol...keep on truckin' bro👍😁💕
Excellent! Where were you when I had to make 200 of them for first and second graders???!! They would have LOVED your calm yet intense personality. lol! Nice job. I saw a moisture meter used in another succulent video that one just sticks in the soil to prevent over and under watering which is VERY common- even with seasoned gardeners. Just a thought.
Hello, I love the look of your terrarium, its beautiful and lots of information while making it happen and it also help me as well. Keep up the good work. Good job!
This is very cute. Super different from how I make succulent terrariums, but I loved this video as well as listening to your channel on autoplay while I work. Thank you for making these!
Every time he turns the glass the fabric of my mind rips apart. The sound.. Haunts me. Edit: Loved the video though! Just went out and bought my own stuff to begin making terrariums. Saw Serpa's videos and couldn't help but be intrigued. Thanks for your videos and all the hard work you put into doing the things you do!!
Hey Tanner. Love your channel, great content and lots of inspiration on the subject. I have a specific question about the moss you decided to use for this project. Can you explain a bit more as to why you made this choice and tell me if you used decorative or living moss for the touch ups? Im having trouble figuring this part out because moss generally thrives in a moist environment opposite of this one so I don't know how well it would do. Also, in my experience decorative moss just turns brown if misted or watered so Im not sure it would be the best choice for this project that uses live plants. Can you please explain a little bit more on this. One of the last steps Im trying to clearify before starting my project. Thanks.
That first plant you placed - Mother of Millions is a hard one to find here in Ontario, Canada. I haven't seen it anywhere in over 30 years. Good to see a beautiful collection of succulents in this terrarium. Good job.
This is just picky, so sorry about that. But you must have had a couple of small rocks under the terrarium, and as you would spin the glass bowl around, it made a noise that evoked the same feeling that I get when I hear nails scratching on a blackboard. 😳 Would love if you kept that in mind for the next video. 😊 But the terrarium is beautiful, and I love all of the projects you show us!
I found this video really helpful. I was looking for some ideas for my terrarium and I specially loved the details you added to make it look as natural as possible. Seems like a lot of fun, I'm staring my first succulent terrarium this weekend.
Good afternoon. Amazing what you do. Great knowlegde. You've turned into an inspiration for me and have gain my respect and apreciation. Wonderfull vídeos, also. Congratulations.
Hey there! Thanks for this video. Totally inspiring. I just stumbled on your channel and just yesterday purchased hanging wall terrariums which now after watching your video I am totally bowled over!
Really well done and informative video. I had no idea how much goes into making a terrarium. I was thinking of Christmas gifts but may end up buying. Thank you for taking the time to produce and teach us!
That sheet moss really gave it a high class look. What a great idea. I am enjoying these videos so much. I am almost ready to put my first one together. Glad I ran into this genius. Wow, where does someone learn all these things. Very impressed.
You're the Bob Ross of terrariums. Sooo relaxing.
Bob Moss
yes i would make him ecology minister of the planet
LOL! You are so funny!
I agree I could watch him for hours
So true lol
I can't believe that it's been 7 years since I first saw your channel, and all of the progress you've made. I just came back to watch this video as a blast from the past.
I'm dying at the Justin Bieber hair! 🤣💀🤣💀🤣💀🤣💀
Awesome work. My husband said, "this guy is professional professional" 👌🏼 We're celebrating our 13th anniversary this weekend and building a terrarium is one of today's projects!
That’s beautiful 🥲
Man, look how far you’ve come. There is nothing more inspiring than consistent progress. I show your videos in all the public school classes I teach. 🙂
I love to walk through the plant section of Home Depot and pick up any succulent bits on the floor that would otherwise be swept up and thrown out.
I do the same. I tried putting them I'm the pots to propogate properly. However they just throw them away. I don't like intentionally killing plant life and not giving them a chance, so I take all leaves home with me.now lol. Might as well give em a fighting chance before throwing them away
They won't even charge you anyways, since it's garbage to them, but you can get more plant life
I LOVE the straw tip at 11:38! Great idea!
You just go..... And then you just see....
I love coming back and watching his old videos 🥰 . You can really see how far he’s come along. And it’s just so great to see
I don’t know why but it makes me so happy you say soil and not dirt! There’s a difference!
@serpadesign your channel is so pure! You explain everything so thoroughly and your unique tips are really helpful. I would have never thought to use a straw like that! You do great work and the soundtrack is so relaxing!
yeah the straw trick was amazing.
Have watched several videos to learn how to start my own terrarium. I have selected yours as the one to follow. Good job!
I completely agree. I really like this guy!!!
Me too. I have my basic list ready to go.
I've seen several of your terrariums that you've shown us and I'm impressed! Your ability to get these small ecosystems natural is impressive!

"Don't compact it, what that will do is compact it" xD
Danny K Truly, the words of a wiseman
Danny K what it does is suffocate the roots and propagate a living environment for anaerobic bacteria which cause root rot.
Elijah Ragland indeed, absolutely: the importance of soil structure.
Yes. Yes yes
It’s amazing to see how you’ve grown but I still love all your old videos. 💜

Most high tech use for a bendy straw I have seen!

Best video I have seen. Thanks 😊

This is so fantastic. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! What a wonderful, impressive young Man! God Bless Tanner and his family.

For any ideas or things that you would like me to discuss in the future, reply to this comment.
How to take care of a Venus fly trap
You are correct. I keep about 10 gallons of distilled water on tap because of the above reason.
I can do that at some point.
SerpaDesign, Can you please do a video on how to pick out jars/containers and how to prepare them?
animal safe substrate for a desert vivarium
Wish I knew about the false bottom when I first tried to make a terrarium, probably would saved them from the root rot. Love this channel!
Glad I found your channel. You're a great guy. Thanks for the fantastic content.
Wow I have been watching your youtube for the last several months and its its wonderful following your fevelopment throught the last seven years. You are an amazing artist and extremely talented. I find your posts very relaxing and informative.
I randomly lurking around many channels but the way you described, it is really cool.. I am trying to start my first terrarium
Now I know what I will be making for family members for Christmas next year. If I start now, they will be well established by Dec.
You do such beautiful work. My only criticism is that when you turned the container the squeak against the dirt on the table would make my hair stand on end, like nails on a chalkboard, I'd have to brace myself for it. Otherwise, very well made. Good job :-) :-)
that noise set me off too! omg
Yes. I had to hold my ears and brace myself for it. Absolutely grating noise.
Maybe glue a neutral piece of felt to the bottom before you get started. It would absorb some of that screech.
My sister hates when I do that.😂
Thanks for sharing it with us. It is a great piece of work!
Exceptional. What a great hobby! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and ideas. :)
Wow! How beautiful. Thanks for the tips.
Beautiful work Tanner...you have a great artistic eye for detail, and a natural love for the flora and fauna...you remind me of myself 40 years ago...back in the day yo!...lol...keep on truckin' bro👍😁💕

Great content. Even back then you were so good at explaining with kindness.
Beautiful, you are talented
