Never pay the workers before they do the work. In any business.
there are some "bigger" jobs that may require deposits.
That’s not how contracting works. 50% deposit before and the other 50% after the work is completed. Always make sure there is a contract and read over everything before you sign.
@@munchems Nonsense! 50%? 10% deposit maximum.
@@pargolf3158 nope, this how it’s done where I’m from. You won’t find a single contractor that doesn’t.
Why would anyone give a two thousand dollar deposit to a company that knocks on your door looking for work.
Do you know how many contractors do the job and then don't get paid by consumers. Do you know how many times if you do installment payments you don't get the last check they always find something wrong. It's just simply a dirty business they're really bad contractors out there and horrible customers out there too
Was gonna say the exact thing. Customers are by far way worse.
Exactly!! As if anyone will book a job with nothing down! 2 grand is like a Tooney with the cost today!
I had my driveway done. Didn't pay a penny till they were finished. Actually paid 2 days after they were done
Congrats! You got desperate losers!
Well said.
Simply have a contract written up. Verify the company is legit and other due diligence, then by all means give a deposit. But this guy just Willy nilly gave a random person who knocked on his door $2000 in cash.
I had my paving done...I paid after everything was removed and a proper amount was put down of asphalt...then I paid
Sam "The Caveman" Losco from East Coast Paving did my driveway. Highly recommended.
Go pave your cave! lol
Totally make sense, don't pay right away, at least have a contract written and at least shop around before making any final decision, I agree pay when the work is done.
Why would you pay a random stranger knocking on your door?
Should have taken their picture.
Take a photo of the person or truck
I wish I did.
Just put a NO SOLICITING sign on your front door. Done.
Never put more than a ten percent deposit down and the rest only after completion to customers satisfaction.
Poor guy.
$2000 poor
Go for a cheap price, expect a cheap job.
ATA Interlocking and landscaping covers all of the GTA and this company creates lovely gardens and more
It's always old dudes getting scammed
Got a new AC paid after it was installed and working...too...I pay after installation
I just made a big mistake. A company in missisauga called GM Paving. Spread the word, the job looked like kids did it.
This guy looks smart and like he is been around for a while. How he keeps 2K in the house and hands over to strangers like he is putting in a collection hat is beyond comprehension 🤷🏽♀️Come on…this is unbelievable
dementia
Smart and street smart are two different things. Travellers are very convincing if you don’t know them & their ways of bartering
Call the bbb they will help
Poor guy
$2000 poor
As a victim. I posted my story to alert readers. and yet you deleted it.
You probably wrote something that goes against the terms
With no money down you wont get any proper company booked 2 grand will get you very little done!
$2000 cash deposit? c'mon bro yr an old boy there's no excuse for that level of foolishness unless yve straight up losing yr marbles
I know lol, and he didn't even have it in writing.
Who is conning who here.
He's old. Maybe he has dementia
Now its 20k down and go fly a kyte!
2000$ for paving? That's a sign you will get scammed. Paving cost somewhere 5000 to 10,000$ depending on your driveway area.
thats just a deposit tho.
Deposit is not the full price u fool
