Sounds like the salesman told them to do it regardless so that he could get the commission. The company should fire him!
Yeah I had something similar with Telus offering me cable I said you can send me information but did not agree and they showed up at my door with the box and I just put it on the shelf and forgot about it then they called me wanting to charge me for the equipment and services I never hooked up or used or requested etc.
Should throw him in jail for fraud!
He should be in jail. Sounds like a demoncrat or Rino.
@@jimwhite4105 Question: Are "democrat" and "rino" nicknames for the citizens of Canada, that big *separate country* mostly to the north of the USA?
They shouldn’t have paved it with no consent. Nor should she pay, but I sure wouldn’t ask for it to be removed.
lolyeah just move on
Yeah, looks clean af and is going to remove it, wear a nightmare
@@9E90S I suppose technically you could say 'Thanks for the free driveway, I never asked to have it paved'
At that point, the company could hire a lawyer and sue the homeowner, yet likely lose in court due to no written agreement.
The downside is, they may vandalize your property. So I think she did what's in her best interest.
@@pleco101 I would have offered to pay them 1/3 the quote, or else put it back the way it was. They'd certainly take the offer, as it would cut their losses on the install, save all their losses on the removal, and meanwhile raise my property value 3 times my cost. The arrangement they decided on is just a complete waste all around.
My dad would lol
WOW , They did a great job , I wish somebody would pave my driveway without permission , so I can get it for free .
To be honest with you look at the close up photo that job is crap one winter and it would be a mess there were chunks and cracks in it.
@@peterrivney552 OK , But I live in south Georgia and down here it will be just fine .
@@ken306809 🤣
I was just going to post this, lol
Free?!
The company gets to pay for the materials and labor for the unwanted driveway and the materials and labor to remove it. Seems like someone is getting fired.
It happened to me about 10 years ago. They tried* to collect money from me, but all they got was a "thank you, much appreciated great job"..
That can’t be a real company. Probably some kind of money laundering racket…
That's just silly
Makes no sense
Why would they pave a driveway get unwanted public attention and than have to go unpave said driveway if they're laundering??
Where's the logic?
I thought door to door sales is illegal in ontario.
the existence of southern ontario should be illegal, excepting if it were to join the usa (where it properly belongs).
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. THINK AGAIN!!
Nope!
I knew a guy who came home after being out of town for about two days to find a crew working on his roof and some of his trees were cut down and removed from the property. Come to find out some investor bought a property and was having work done on it to sell it and was giving the companies he was hiring the wrong address by mistake. The investor lived in a different city and wasn't around to notice the mistake. The guy ended up getting all new shingles on his roof for free and sued the investor for having them remove trees from his property. I always get a kick out of it when I think back on that story.
I wish I would come home to having my driveway paved by a company randomly instead of my putting it off again
@@MicheleNichols2 sure, I'll win in court and not pay a dime
No because when the sun heats it up it smells like you living in the street
@@mpalmer7800 yep, not only that but if you get a lot of rain it can also cause pools of water to the sides of your home instead of soaking into the ground
🤣 right , I’m trying to pull up and see my roof getting replaced. Lawn being mowed . Not really but I get it 🤣🤣
I wouldn't want my driveway paved....
Isn’t that illegal? Is it not illegal to show up on someone’s property and do something without the consent of the owner of said property? Not to mention, they showed up and still expect payment. Like… no? How about no?
and then the scary part is if you refuse to pay, they'll wreck it twice as bad, worse than the original driveway for sure
Well you heard their PM. You have no real right to own property in Canada.
He’s not getting a cent and now has to remove it for free.
That company gonna lose so much money. But imagine the old folks they have already scammed out of 7 grand . It probably only cost 4K or less idk
@@corytomlin4840 , you’re right. Maybe authorities look into their past to see if they have pulled this before.
@@corytomlin4840 $8,000 - $500 (They offered a discount) = $7,500.
Since when does any driveway paving cost $8k Cdn?
But what's it going to look like after removal?
@@baffledbybullshit805 , some fresh gravel put down after the removal.
These guys that go door to door are all shady. What you need to worry about is regardless of a "contract" the can put a lien on you. The laws need to be changed with respect to how liens are approved.
You then have to sue them. they would have to pay your lawyer fees if they lose.
@@MicheleNichols2 100%
i am pretty certain that any lien that might be placed e.g. in the circumstances would be entirely non-enforceable given the lack of contract.
@@MicheleNichols2 Don't think they can put a lien on your home without proof? You need a contract as far as I know.
@@johncam8420 I'm pretty sure I saw a market place episode that made the point that it was bizarrely easy to put a lien on someone's house. I can't recall exactly if it could be done entirely without proof or just with a dishonest claime from the scammer.
One of the many reasons I don't answer the door, I'm not paying for someone to do something to my house without me knowing especially at this price tag.
We got scammed on a furnace 5 years ago . We never answer the door to strangers now nor do we answer the 6 calls average per day to phone numbers we don't recognize . They can leave a message , but seldom do ...Way too many scams these days . Beware .
Agrees...beauty of a video doorbell with audio...you can view only or view and say "I'm not interested - please leave"...Never indicate whether you are home or not...Don't say "I am not available"...this could have them assume you are not home if they intend to B&E or to simply come back later...It is easier just to say "Please leave"
Unique indeed, pure bandit. They don't get a penny (if they still existed). 🤯🇨🇦
Her last statement is an admission in a way saying don't get taken advantage of? How do you not stop tresspassing ? Fishy free driveway.
@aria mason Doesn't matter - where was the written contract? There's a quote I learned with maintaining logs - "if it wasn't written down, it never happened." Surely a professional company would know to have a written contract or any sort of formal paperwork before doing this. Company was shady.
No contract, no consent ! She got herself a free driveway ! Wonder, how they will bring the old look back ?
Yeah I certainly would have installed a driveway with a " verbal agreement". Yup that's all you need no paper work or signatures necessary. Really? This makes no sense.
What a blessing! Paved driveway! Should be free!
Looks like a poor job..
It looks like it's barely an inch thick. Dox them to he'll and back. And 7500$? That is at least half of what it should be.
Thank you. 🌹
Should have called the police immediately and had them arrested for trespassing and destruction of private property.
She has no obligation to pay for it. She got a free driveway. I’d keep it if I was her. Gravel’s a mess in the winter.
The company said they're putting it back the way it was.
@@djdavisiscool I know
@@djdavisiscoolcan just say boo hoo and trespass them if they show up
"lets just pave it, the'yll prolly pay when were done"... said no contractor ever.
I'm pretty sure there's another side to this story. Materials are too expensive now for companies to just pull up and pave the whole driveway on hopes. Karen not telling the whole story. 🤷
She may not be, but I would think a job of this magnitude would require both a signature and a deposit.
Well, you got a paved driveway for free….
What kind of paving company goes door to door lol
They are always at my door cuz " they're in the area "
The kind that pounds the pavement.🥁
They do
Looks like she got herself a new driveway for nothing
They are removing their unwanted work. She got a hassle, likely the fault of the sales person.
@@elibennett3034 It's really a, he said, she said scenario. Either the homeowner has a split personality and really did tell the salesman to go ahead and do the driveway. Or - more likely, the salesman was a complete sheister and tried to force a purchase. It backfired on him, when she called the news.
Also - who the heck would ever have a verbal agreement for an $8,000 - 500 = $7,500 job?
No way...
Moral of the story: Always call a news network if you happen to get screwed over.
@@pleco101 said she said situation like this the person who did the work has clearly lost the legal battle
That driveway was not even made done well
Wow lmao 🤣 id be happy if driveway paved but not happy not knowing
No contract and agreement, why worry about it.
Anyone who wonders....Hespeler is North Cambridge Ontario
I'd be delighted....as long as I don't get a bill.
Verbal agreements do not hold up in court.
I am *struggling* to see the problem.
Thank him and politely tell him to take a hike.
And they did a substandard crap job of it!
She should be grateful
What? This is bizarre and illegal
She doesn't have to pay for it if she didn't sign anything and didn't consent to it
You Go GIRL!!...not one penny!
I just wish someone would shovel my driveway after a storm, I swear I won't complain.
Asphalt company screwed up...she shouldn't have to pay...
Keep the paved driveway. It’s his problem. Why make them change it back
A verbal agreement isn't even worth the paper it's not written on.
Company needs to just leave it.
The Mob still does paving
Her advice wouldn't have helped her though. She said no and the business still sent his workers out to do the job.
Exactly what I wrote earlier!
This is dumb. The company did not do this with out permission.. somthing about this story smells of 💩!
What an amazing way to get work when things are slow...
Technically that's not "contracting" buddy...that's actually *con-artistry!?*
Surprising
I WOULDNT BE PAYING THEM
This is why I do not answer the door if I am not expecting anyone.
I would not be paying .
were they not home on saturday while this was being done?
no contract either verbal or written....no pay....
I read a story about roofers doing the wrong house, roof company said sorry and gave it to them for free.
This happened to me with siding forms house. I had my lawyer handle it and I got it free.
No means no
She should be happy. They increased the value of her property.
Real talk
Free driveway, increase in property value, easier to snow off, can put car jack under car, can roll a dolly on driveway, etc ... The advantages are endless. It's also all for free. She's the real winner here.
Be thankful wtf
Was this done over the phone? My family and I, receive numerous phone calls, (mobile) - Air and Duct Cleaning. They are relentless. I am wondering if it is the same concept.
@@MicheleNichols2 I realize, door to door, wise. I was wondering if the same could apply over the phone.

I get the air and duct cleaning ALL the time too!
Here’s what I say when those annoying air ducts businesses call. I let them ramble on, then I tell them I don’t have ducts, I have geese! Then I hear CLICK! 😂😂I annoyed them! 😂😂
@@TheAMBULOCETUS I was repeatedly getting phone calls about air duct cleaning. One day I took a whistle to the phone. They stopped calling for about a month or two and it started again. Only the next time they called me I used an air horn. Haven't heard from them since.
ripping up the asphalt will take a lot of your gravel, don't let them on your property
Hahha what a beauty... I would of keep it for free. It looks awsome job!
1:30: Nope, no verbal agreement --- you put the work in writing, you stupid paving company. Just do you expect to get away with this after we see you in court?
The paving company just vandalized their driveway.
This happened to me over a well..They sued me for 12000 without consent
It looks GREAT! But...it was done without owner permission which is a no-no. I definitely would not pay for it!

7500 dollars? Wtf
Long driveway.

How exactly is the $7,500 calculated - I'd love to see the materials and labor breakdown from these degenerates.
@@pleco101 My driveway is two cars wide, and about 3 deep, let's say. Estimate to pave mine is about $3,500.
Wow. What a horrible problem to have.
Since when do "verbal agreements" mean anything where a cost of over $7000 is involved
Should have called the police when they were half done.
Completing a driveway based on a Verbal agreement for a $7500 job? Really? The worst business practice ever.
I wouldn't pay and let them eat the cost. She should have called the cops on the crew paving it.
Oh this needs to make the news I’d be embarrassed if I worked on this story
It wasn't even a nice job either but how did she get to tell her story on the news?
They gave her a nicer driveway, for FREE. Get over it
Google her address...her driveway was ugly
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wonder how many previous homeowners actually were compelled to pay? Smells like racketeering to me.
Soon, she will not even own the house.
She wants it removed? That's the laugh of the year
He would need the $7500 for medical bills
Congratulations free driveway
She showed be happy
No way in hell you guys are complaining over this I would love a free pave driveway
What a deal. Can that company do mine?
Without a contract , I will not pay for it .
Free driveway .
😁This person has a wonderful paved driveway. She didn't ask for it in any way. It's free, keep it, enjoy it. Put a restraining order on the paving company.
That made news. She seems unhappy about a free paved driveway
sounds like a free driveway and lawsuit just fell in her lap...lucky girl
What a sad world where No means Yes, and Yes means half up front half when the job is done I’ll call you next month and you’ll never see me again.
She shouldn’t even need to pay because she didn’t sign a contract agreeing to do this.
Why is this homeowner having porch meetings with strangers?
Sue the company to have it put back the way it was.
Free driveway. Score.
Just thank them and say goodbye
A verbal agreement? LOL yeah ok let's see that stand up in court. SMH
Fly by night contractors… oh and btw anyone can claim to be a contractor and make a legit company name as long as you pay for the license.
Also that pavement looks awfully thin , given one winter and there will be cracks
Talk about trying to strong arm someone... Shady dudes
