Hey Charlie. A bit late finding this but really appreciate you coming over to my city! I’ve been here all my life. Most of London is generally pleasant and safe. You will occasionally find the odd stand alone home or housing complex that looks a bit run down compared to other areas of the city but other than that, it’s a very good place overall. This place is quite tame, even when you compare to some spots of Windsor. Some areas that stand out in terms of “ghetto” would be OEV, the whole Dundas strip, Horton Street area (basically south of the train tracks), Hamilton Road along towards Highbury, a portion of east London which includes Argyle and Trafalgar area, Limberlost, Kipps Lane, Millbank, King Edward, Hilton, Boulee, and possibly a few more. Nothing is crazy run down here. However, I wouldn’t fear your life in London. Ignore the crackheads downtown at night and you’ll most likely be fine
Great Comment, I agree with most of what youre saying, even our bad areas really arent that bad, I also think East of adelaide is no where near as bad as it used to be. once you hit east of highbury there are so many good neighbourhoods and most of the dundas problems are gone by highbury. Lots of new builds out that way as well.

I disagree that there is no reason to go to london, I have been meeting a lot of young entrepreneurs who grew up in london trying to bring better food and stops here. They work really hard to help provide nicer stuff for the community. I will say I do agree dundas is horrible on the way to downtown it almost feels like another city in that area compared to the rest of london,
@@SpencerGatten Compared to Stratford, London looks very sketchy to me in some parts. I feel a little bit disquieting and uneasy when I'm in the older areas. London is not a stranger to gun crimes and shootings and van attacks.
@@PunchBuggyDreams I am in stratford all the time. They have some areas that look similar. The age of the area also isnt the problem some of the worst areas where build in the 80s and 90s and the nicer areas built 80-100 years ago. Gun crime is extremely low and the last incidents we had were people coming in from Toronto to cause trouble. I would certainly say we are indeed strangers to van attacks. What have we had, one?
@@SpencerGatten Seriously dude? How bout around June 6, 2021 when a 20 year old douchebag ran down 2 women a man and a 15 year old girl. They were mowed down by him in a black truck. A 9 year old boy from the family was also run down but survived. It was a premeditated attack on this Muslim family just walking down a sidewalk on Hyde Park Rd, London, Ont. in the afternoon. The killer was wearing body armor. The attack was deemed a terroristic act against Muslims. And for the record, Stfd has no areas like London. Yeah sure a few older unkept homes maybe.
@@PunchBuggyDreams And that attack that you are referring too happened in the so called, "Uptown London" area of Hyde Park. Not downtown or EOA or OVE.
I grew up on Ontario Street, near the fair, close to where you were driving. It was tuff as a kid, but it made me strong. I know some of my old friends weren’t so lucky.
You probably thinking of Leamington, Ontario. I’ve lived in both cities, suburbs of Cleveland and London, Ontario. This is an old part of London, the suburbs are much more modern. My dog came from a kennel in Akron, Ohio.
Very small part of London, I use to have a 24 hour business on Hamilton Road and it wasn’t scary in the slightest Cleveland on the other hand is scary. Still have a few restaurants I like to go to on Dundas east and Hamilton Road.
@@gerhardk98 Yeah Cleveland is extremely scary even for me. I currently reside in the heart of Cleveland. A majority if not all American cities are scary compared to thier Canadian counterparts Chicago/Toronto New York/ Montreal Minneapolis/Winnipeg Denver/Calgary Vancouver/ Seattle .
my grandmother lived across from that boarded up blue and red building at 0:38. Used to be a bank way back, then a convinient store when I was a kid. Also surprised by how you travel from country to country. I can only imagine the distance and time to travel From Mexico to Canada. Thank you for the kind uploads by showing us these neighborhoods I would've never known they existed. I used to live in the ghetto. They all may be ghetto hoods, but each has its own unique community of amazing people and the building structures are always interesting and have a history behind them. Bless you Charlie and stay safe as always brother
There is a delay in the views and like counter...it's a programming thing as it results in less bottleneck and slowdowns. Same reason comments only load when you scroll towards it.
Having grown up in London I will tell you there's no ghettos there. There's crappy areas but not bad ones. The ghetto areas in the states would eat London ghettos alive.
Never thought I'd see my hometown here. This is just some old areas a bit run down but Soho is probably the most rundown part of London. There are also some pretty rough housing complexes in other areas such as king Edward, Cleveland Ave, h block area, pond Mills, Milbank, limberlost, Hilton ave etc
So interestingly enough, King edward has a horrible rep but its really been turning around, most of the apartments have been bought in the last 5 years and they are starting renovations and better management. Still lots of work to be done though
I grew up there in the 70’s and 80’s. There are much worse neighborhoods in London than these. Try any low rental income townhouse neighborhoods. I grew up in a really rough neighborhood and it was depressing. I was there last year and there were tents everywhere downtown. It was sad to see. Although, I had many great memories there!
One of the last streets (Blocks) at he turned left on to "Dufferin Ave" is one of those really nice streets in a maybe questionable area. Nicely maintained large old houses with huge trees.
ya thats the interesting thing about london, one street can be brutal but it can be one block away from beautiful old victorian homes modern renovations done well.
If you ever come through Edmonton, hit up 118th ave, 107th ave, City Center, China Town, McCauley, Boyle street. It's always been bad but its gotten a lot worse over here. Gangs, drugs, random violence and killings are out of control. The kids are out of control. And it's Zombieland. We got a new Rogers arena and a couple of the tallest skyscrapers in Western Canada built right in the middle of it all. Directly behind the arena there's a soup kitchen with a little tent city. Before the Pandemic the tents weren't out there. But it's become so bad that pretty much all of downtown is tent city.
@K.M.V S it's absolutely criminal what landlords charge now. My old apartment is almost triple what it used to be. Glad I moved out and bought real estate.

This video goes to show just because you are "lower class" it doesn't mean you have to make your environment dangerous. Taking care of your block and having a well-functioning society without drugs or violent gangs. people can still be happy living even during short comings. It's just too bad America every lower-class area has to be associated with higher crimes.
It may be "working class" but the drugs and poverty have still ravaged our community as well. Ppl suffering from mental health and addiction struggles are usually in large numbers up and down Hamilton rd. and other streets in London. Having a community and a government that shows compassion and provides Healthcare and social programs to try and help our vulnerable population out from the death grips of this cycle is the difference. Eventhough we might have these programs and such, we still could do so much more for our vulnerable population.
Everything look so clean and not abandoned that the states can’t definitely keep in place. For a guy living in the suburbs, I’m actually jealous of that living.
I live in this city and it is a far far far cry from the cities I have seen in the US. This area is east London and very low prices, low crime, and quite nice (near the river) if this is a ghetto in London Ontario Canada then it shows how fantastic we are doing compared to the USA. The areas shown are peaceful, clean, no guns, and a great place to raise kids on a low income. FAR FAR from a ghetto. CANADA ROCKS!!!!
@@philster6383 to me this looks a lot like many hoods in America I think people just trying to say it looks better because it’s Canada. Truth is a lot of places look just like this tbh.

Charlie Bos! welcome to London! Driving in the London East working class neighbourhood! Do you see how so many buildings are like the destroyed ones you see in Detroit? Detroit makes me sad because if those buildings had survived you can see what a pleasant living area it would be. Detroiters deserve so much better! Happy you came!
Good thing about London they are trying to revitalize these areas and basically have no choice the city is growing and need housing and retail to go with it, but it's a slow process.
I love you consider any of this the hood. Just older homes in older neighborhoods. Funny things those houses cost close to $500k cnd if not close to it. And you will rarley find abandond properties, lots or garbage everywhere like in hood neighborhoods like detroit. Yes you will get the house where its renters that dont give to Fs and maintain property but it ls not gangs on corners, drugs and shootings. Just like here in Peterborough London is very similiar where there is one block that has bad reputation due to a few bad incidents but most people are hard working individuals, even alot of younger people that are first time home buyers can get better deals.
I have lived in this city for years, there are some fairly dangerous "hoods" here but not like the United States, in Canadian we can't carry firearms, it makes it a bit more difficult
Erna, the problem isn't the asphalt as much in this area is we are built on sand and in winter the water in the sand heaves up the road surface and leaves cracking!
I have a daughter there and I. Can'belive this is now her home. Maybe they are worse in other cities but this is where she is. 9 years not knowing what's going. On or if she's alive.

Too bad you didn't make a left turn at the first light you stopped at. That's the 'downtown ghetto" and you drove right past it. There's a few other areas you could have cruised past... Kipp's Lane/ Country Lane, Limberlost, Millbank Drive... A few of the tent encampments by the riverbank. You missed most of the really desperate areas of town.

London Ontario is probably one of the safer cities to live in, even though it has the hood in the city, but then again every major big city has a hood in it it’s safer to live in any city in Canada even Toronto than America America in a hood you would just get shot robbed in the hood. @@kylephillip6433 I've lived in Winnipeg, and the worst thing about Winnipeg is that it is cold. Not much to complain about otherwise lol It is far prettier and cleaner than Louisville or Indianapolis (which I've lived in), or any other big American city I've seen

I was here once, got mugged. But he wwas polite, he said " sorry, eh I'm gonna have to ask for your wallet... sorry bud "
The hoods in Montreal are mostly in Montreal North. There’s also Amabaie in the West Island. Point Saint Charles can get a little sketchy too
Nobody afraid to walk anywhere in London at any time of the day.
And that's the way a civilized community should be, eh 🇨🇦
I agree
I grew up on Ontario Street, near the fair, close to where you were driving.
It was tuff as a kid, but it made me strong. I know some of my old friends weren’t so lucky.
It just looks like an older part of town. Pretty well kept and not looking like my definition of a hood to me.
Looks like Cleveland. Makes sense because the closes large city to Cleveland across the northern shore of Lake Erie is London Ontario.
London is at least 20 miles from the lake. It's a university city. Has been for a long time.
@@robertshank8412 Yeah that's close.
A majority if not all American cities are scary compared to thier Canadian counterparts Chicago/Toronto

my grandmother lived across from that boarded up blue and red building at 0:38. Used to be a bank way back, then a convinient store when I was a kid. Despite being less than 50ft from the police station she was broken into 3 times in her 8 years living there. Most of whats past 4:00 is fairly safe though.
Today I learned that H&R Block is in Canada.
😂 yup, we even have a couple Carl Jr's, Applebee's and Starbucks.
The opening footage with the Kit-Kat variety was literally a 45 second walk from the house I grew up in (Raywood ave)

Of course
Also surprised by how you travel from country to country. I can only imagine the distance and time to travel From Mexico to Canada. Thank you for the kind uploads by showing us these neighborhoods I would've never known they existed. I used to live in the ghetto. They all may be ghetto hoods, but each has its own unique community of amazing people and the building structures are always interesting and have a history behind them. Bless you Charlie and stay safe as always brother

That's what all the cool kids are doing "allegedly"

Having grown up in London I will tell you there's no ghettos there. There's crappy areas but not bad ones. The ghetto areas in the states would eat London ghettos alive.
so what? the ghettos in the carribean would eat the american ones alive
@@killa2345 are you from the carribean?
Never thought I'd see my hometown here. This is just some old areas a bit run down but Soho is probably the most rundown part of London. There are also some pretty rough housing complexes in other areas such as king Edward, Cleveland Ave, h block area, pond Mills, Milbank, limberlost, Hilton ave etc
Pond mills is the wild west lol place is bonkers
Agreed with you
So interestingly enough, King edward has a horrible rep but its really been turning around, most of the apartments have been bought in the last 5 years and they are starting renovations and better management.
I live downtown! Hey from London Charlie I always dreamed you’d come here. My new fave video homie⭐️😁🙏
how do you like living downtown, do you feel like you have access to a lot of amenities?
Get off my lawn EH! please? Thank you! Love Canada!!!!!
Wow, beautiful heritage architecture. Well kept. You guys must be rich there.
@K.M.V S it's absolutely criminal what landlords charge now. My old apartment is almost triple what it used to be. Glad I moved out and bought real estate.
Working class area.
The best part of growing up in Gundon Ontario is that I'll never get home sick. A forest city? Hell it has more utility poles than trees.
LOL yeah the whole area was deforested years ago for farms and parkinglots
This video goes to show just because you are "lower class" it doesn't mean you have to make your environment dangerous. Taking care of your block and having a well-functioning society without drugs or violent gangs. people can still be happy living even during short comings. It's just too bad America every lower-class area has to be associated with higher crimes.
This is working class. That's why all the driveways are empty. Everybody's at work.
If u ever come back hmu ill take on a more detailed detour of the hoods of London ont ...lived out here for 29 years
Everything look so clean and not abandoned that the states can’t definitely keep in place. For a guy living in the suburbs, I’m actually jealous of that living.
you would want pay 700,000$+ for that 🤣🤣🤣
I live in this city and it is a far far far cry from the cities I have seen in the US.

As a London native they don’t really have a “true hood” however they do have lots of rough areas and the drug issue is really bad stuff you’d see similar to in San Francisco

I like the vintage and antique buildings and the beautiful church.
Good thing about London they are trying to revitalize these areas and basically have no choice the city is growing and need housing and retail to go with it, but it's a slow process.
I live high burry Dundas and trust me I definitely wouldn’t go out at night alone or without some sort of protection
As a Londoner, I approve this message 😂
You pass my house lol, you should go down City Plaza lol, look how the people are cooking down there
Thanks for finally coming to my home town. Hope u had a good time wile u were here bro. Bin watching your videos for years now

My dad used to first settle in London when he came to Canada in 1983.
I have lived in this city for years, there are some fairly dangerous "hoods" here but not like the United States, in Canadian we can't carry firearms, it makes it a bit more difficult
I still don't understand how the asphalt in Canada and the US is so bad
Erna, the problem isn't the asphalt as much in this area is we are built on sand and in winter the water in the sand heaves up the road surface and leaves cracking!

London Ontario is probably one of the safer cities to live in, even though it has the hood in the city, but then again every major big city has a hood in it it’s safer to live in any city in Canada even Toronto than America America in a hood you would just get shot robbed in the hood.
