This is scary because they know where they live. I certainly hope their isn't any retaliation.
Never entertain anyone that comes to your door, if you need something, you go find them, they don't come find you. Tell anyone who comes to your house to go pound sand, also put up 'No Soliciting signs to deter them'. I have one at my door. Also never trust anyone that comes to your door.
I was a paving contactor for 25 years and had advertising to get people to phone me for business. Sometimes customers would say my neighbor wants an estimate so i would tell them you have the neighbor phone me because I don't phone or knock on doors looking for work.
Construction and mechanics are two areas in life you should never scrimp on. So glad this guy has a happy ending
Don't scrimp on happy endings either ......
@@gavindaly5731 they wouldn't be happy then 😎
Wow! This is harsh! I’m the USA I have been hearing stories of people having their driveways stolen! No word of a lie! Ripped up and taken away and left with dirt! As the house is being sold. People are getting pretty creative about the scams they are pulling lately 😢
That's a new one.
And what do they do with the old driveway, sell it as used ? Hey man, I got a used driveway for you real cheap.
LOL
It has the word con right in the name.
This is shocking, underhanded, inconsiderate, rude, illegal, incomprehensible, disgusting, immoral, unethical, and downright dastardly.
Strange "scam" where they do a good job paving then when you tell them you won't pay, they leave you alone... Lol
They give a quote at the start of the job and then double the price at the end because they had 'issues'. It's only a verbal quote, so the homeowner is expected to pay up in cash. I guess that's why you should always ask for a written quote on big jobs and get them to sign it.
Look at 2:08 and really any part of the driveway that's not a good job that's some random dudes who have not been trained in anyway to do that work. I'm sure in a years time that will be a broken mess. Probably used stolen materials and equipment as well.
He didn't say he wouldn't pay. He said come back after the weekend. They haven't returned.
This is also common with landscaping services and people coming up to you saying they'll mow your lawn for free. My motto is: if I didn't request the work, it's not happening.
But the “contractors” were not paid and did not return… how/where did they get the “recycled” asphalt?
Same scam happens here in the Maritimes. Other popular scams here are roof painting and shipping containers. They target the elderly and people with an accent.
So he end up with a free 10k asphalt job pretty nice :P My parents got scammed and lost a lot from a similar kind of job i'm glad this old man is technically a winner in this thing.
NEVER pay all in advance. If the company is reputable 30% is enough up front
Due diligence
Better make sure the material are hazardous to your health.
LOL. With all this tech/camera maybe people should know and learn how to use it.
I know several seniors that got ripped off in the recent Bitcoin scam.
Not just seniors that fell for that nonsense…
i had someone scam me once they sold me snow and i live in the north pole
I had a plumber from Israel scam my old man for a bathfitter bathroom renovation job that was garbage of installation quality and severity of incompetence
You mean “ plumber”.
What is the relevance of his being from Israel?
What does Israel have to do with it?
No you didn't. Pretty sure he was from Palestine!
Everyone should go to mandatory scam training especially seniors
If only there were cameras that you could catch these people on,,,,to identify them, like in your pocket?
Which self-respecting scam artist is going to let you take their photo?
I bet it's Jippos ....
What scam ? He got his asphalt and didn't pay !!! Cash up from before any work is done
Why haven't the pavers returned for their money?
Do you make a habit of paying for work before it’s completed? It’s usually a deposit up front and remainder after satisfactorily completing the job.
@@aaykay4060 It was completed
But they did the work.
Why haven't they returned for payment? The guy said come back after the weekend.
That’s what I am saying @@TenthCrane2788
If they paved that whole driveway, 10 grand was a good deal.
by the sound of things what was used to "pave" was grindings, not hot asphalt.
@@reverendaljones45 looks pretty good, did you see how long the driveway is ?
@@matzrat5006 somewhat yes, looked fairly long, if a crew came in to measure and pave it with real blacktop at proper thickness the price would be much higher.
0:51 OH IT'S CHARIS! I haven't heard anything from her since her old CFOX days!. It's good to see she's doing well.
